iām screaming what does this mean
People are protesting that we must boycott the film Bohemian Rhapsody because, and I quote,Ā āthe trailer erases Mercuryās homosexuality by having him flirt with a woman and whitewashes him!ā Which is funny, because these people are basically erasing Freddie Mercuryās bisexuality and his relationship with Mary Austin and whitewashing Rami Malek at the same time in order to back their shitty excuse of an argument.
Now, repeat with me:
Freddie Mercury wasnāt gay, he was bisexual. Rami Malek is Egyptian.
Freddie Mercury wasnāt gay, he was bisexual. Rami Malek is Egyptian.
Freddie Mercury wasnāt gay, he was bisexual. Rami Malek is Egyptian.
Freddie Mercury wasnāt gay, he was bisexual. Rami Malek is Egyptian.
This has been a PSA.
Please donāt boycott this movie, my dad worked on it and said that Brian May was talking to him and saying that he was so happy that they were true to how Freddie was and how Rami was doing an exceptional job at portraying him
Someone told my ex-dad (not a sex thing; he just disowned me) that Iām trans and now heās threatening to come to work and make a scene, and I know I should be upset, but like. Whatās he gonna say exactly? And to whom? Because imagining a haggard and likely shitfaced Pennsylvania construction worker barging through the grocery store like, āHEY!!! THAT BROAD-HIPPED 5'3ā EFFEMINATE KID WITH THE CONSPICUOUSLY BIZARRE NAME WHO SPEAKS IN A CARTOONISHLY AFFECTED CARICATURE OF MASCULINITY AINāT GOT NO DICK!!! YOU GONNA BUY SCRATCH OFF TICKETS FROM SOME KINDA DICKLESS ABOMINATION??ā is wild. Whatās it going to accomplish? Or is he gonna call my manager? āHELLO, IāD LIKE TO REPORT A FRAUD IN YOUR DELI DEPARTMENT. THERE IS NOT SAUSAGE AS ADVERTISED.ā What the fuck.
Odds are heās more embarrassed of having a trans ex-kid than I am of being outed at work, so what if I go to his job and tell everyone Iām trans first? What then, coward?
Dick or no dick, this post has some of the biggest dick energy I have ever seen.
i know its the mets, but this is the coolest shit iāve ever seen a human being do
Smoove with it tooĀ
This is the kind of shit you see in anime that shows that a certain character is stronger than other characters.Ā
āPathetic. Ā You canāt even hold the bat you dare step to the plate? Have you no respect for the sport?ā
reminds me of this gif
Baseball players are to be feared

Look at how well you age when you stay in your lane
āCherā and you wonāt have your youth stolenĀ
I donāt reblog much, but this is too well said not to.
This always gets a reblog.
I remember seeing this shortly after I first came out and it just filled me with so much hope.
The Killing Joke did not make Oracle.
Since that clip of Nightwing and Oracle came out from YJ Iāve seen so many people say they canāt wait to see āThe Killing Jokeā adapted to see Oracleās origin. But the Killing Joke was meant to end Barbaraās time in comics it did nothing to create Oracle at all.
In the late 80s Barbaraās popularity had dwindled considering she was introduced to comics after the Batman ā66 tv show and she had become a senator and all but written out of canon. Then after the sucess of Mooreās Killing Joke its was made canon that she was shot which wasnāt suppose to be part of the main continuity.Barbara was all but gone from comics after that she had successfully been benched in an extremely violent way.
After Kim Yale and her husband John Ostrander saw what happened to Barbara they decided to adapt Barbaraās character and use her in Suicide Squad.Barbara worked directly for Amanda Waller and after a few years Barbara became the intel/computers expert for Batman. The writers in the Bat Office at this time started using Barbara in issues of Batman/Robin/Nightwing before eventually giving her her own team in the Birds of Prey.Barbara then became Cassās surrogate mother/mentor amd even named her before having her take over the Batgirl mantle.
The Killing Joke was a full stop in Barbara Gordonās life.Alan Moore intended it to ruin her life,DC editorial intended it to ruin her life and have her written out of comics. No one should want the Killing Joke adapted as all it is is torture of a female character for man pain and even Moore has rebuked the damn book.
Oracleās origin is in Suicide Squad by Ostrander/Yale and in Oracle Year One thatās the story that deserves to be told.
To those who are fans of MARVELā¦Stan needs our helpā¦please watch the video and spread the word!
I know I said I wouldnāt do any Marvel based posts after Mr. Ditko passed away, but this has to be known. This has to be shared. If only for Stan Leeās sake. I cannot believe how horrible people can be. And to hear his own daughter is treating him so shabilly. This breaks my heart.
Anyone who claims to be a real Marvel fan will reblog this on all social media platforms. And youāll write to the actors of the Marvel movies to help us also. It seems like only the actors and us, the fans, are the ones who really care about Mr. Lee anymore. Please guys. We have to help him. NOW.
Stan Lee is a hero to a lot of us. Itās time that we be a hero for him. And even if you donāt like Marvel, anyone who doesnāt tolerate elder abuse should help!

Please please please reblog this.
Stan Lee created Marvel Comics.
Stan Lee changed the world of entertainment as we know it by diverging from the norm and encouraging the acceptance of those who are different (X-Men mutants in 1963).
Stan Lee, at the age of 95, is giving up on life because everyone close to him is depending upon him like vultures.
Please please please reblog this. Maybe someone with influence can help him. Maybe the state will step in if enough people but them about it. Maybe we can make Stanās twilight years enjoyable instead of the hell heās going through.
Thanks you.
āExcelsior!ā

Coraline is a masterfully made film, an amazing piece of art that i would never ever ever show to a child oh my god are you kidding me
Nothing wrong with a good dose of sheer terror at a young age
āIt was a story, I learned when people began to read it, that children experienced as an adventure, but which gave adults nightmares. Itās the strangest book Iāve writtenā
-Neil Gaiman on Coraline
@nightlovechild
This is a legit psychology phenomenon tho like thereās a stop motion version of Alice and Wonderland that adults find viscerally horrifying, but children think is nbd. Itās like in that ātoy storyā period of development kids are all kind of high key convinced that their stuffed animals lead secret lives when theyāre not looking and that theyāre sleeping on top of a child-eating monster every night so they see a movie like Coraline and are just like āAh, yes. A validation of my normal everyday worldview. Same thing happened to me last Tuesday night. I told mommy and she just smiled and nodded.ā
Stephen King had this whole spiel i found really interesting about this phenomenon about how kids have like their own culture and their own literally a different way of viewing and interpreting the world with its own rules thatās like secret and removed from adult culture and that you just kinda forget ever existed as you grow up itās apparently why he writes about kids so much
An open-ended puzzle often gives parents math anxiety while their kids just happily play with it, explore, and learn. Iāve seen it so many times in math circles. We warn folks about it.
Neil Gaiman also said that the difference in reactions stems from the fact inĀ āCoralineā adults see a child in danger - while children see themselves facing danger and winning
i never saw so much push back from adults towards YA literature as when middle aged women started reading The Hunger Games. They were horrified that kids would be given such harsh stories, and I kept trying to point out the NECESSITY of confronting these hard issues in a safe fictional environment.
Also, in an interview, he said that Coraline was partially based on a story his not yet 6 year old daughter would tell himĀ
SAGAL: No. I mean, for example, your incredibly successful young adult novel āCoralineā is about a young girl in house in which thereās a hole in the wall that leads to a very mysterious and very evil world. So when you were a kid, is that what you imagined?
GAIMAN: When I was a kid, we actually lived in a house that had been divided in two at one point, which meant that one room in our house opened up onto a brick wall. And I was convinced all I had to do was just open it the right way and it wouldnāt be a brick wall. So Iād sidle over to the door and Iād pull it open.
(SOUNDBITE OF LAUGHTER)
SAGAL: Right.
GAIMAN: And it was always a brick wall.
SAGAL: Right.
GAIMAN: But it was one of those things that as I grew older, I carried it with me and I thought, I want to send somebody through that door. And when I came to write a story for my daughter Holly, at the time she was a 4 or 5-year-old girl. Sheād come home from nursery. Sheād seen me writing all day. So sheād come and climb on my lap and dictate stories to me. And itād always be about small girls named Holly.
SAGAL: Right.
GAIMAN: Who would come home to normally find their mother had been kidnapped by a witch and replaced by evil people who wanted to kill her and sheād have to go off and escape. And I thought, great, what a fun kid.
Itās anxious adults who desperately want to āsoftenā stories. Kids prefer the real thing: with monsters, bloodthirsty ogres and evil murderous stepmothers; where the littlest brother always wins and all the villains are horrendously punished in the end. The world is threatening to the eyes of a child, so they need a fictional universe where the little people have a fair chance against the big and strong.
^^^ Childrenās stories that are so horrifying to most adults are stories in which the children face peril, but are able to overcome it.Ā That overcoming is really important, not just in childrenās literature, but in child development.Ā Children who donāt have the peril-overcome, in fiction or in smaller ways, real life, develop as anxious, indecision-ridden adults lacking a good sense of independence.
The scary creepy Alice in Wonderland film mentioned earlier isĀ NÄco z Alenky (1988) by Czech filmmakerĀ Jan Å vankmajer.Ā Itās one of my favorite Alice adaptations for its horror surrealism that, I think, well captures the madness and illogic that Carrollās book of the adult world viewed by a small child.
āFairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.ā ā G.K. Chesterton
This is such a valid point that I never realised beforeā¦I wonder what it says about my psyche that I was terrified witless by the movie Coraline as a child.
