i saw supergirl the other day! such a fun movie ๐
Superwoke ๐ค Super-bisexual
Im not even gonna ask how the supergirl movie was 'Super-Bisexual' but hey, I love my woke cousins together
Look I don't think Supergirl (2026) is secretly a perfect masterpiece or anything (I personally thought it was like. a 6/10 fun time) but I do think it's wild that Tumblr isn't going crazy for it because this Kara is one coattailed suit away from being a Tumblr sexyman. she is the flawed messy female character people have supposedly been clamouring for. she's the popular archetype of a gruff self-destructive alcoholic middle-aged man begrudgingly having to look after a kid and growing fond of them but genderswapped and also 23. she's allowed to be visibly messy and kind of gross and her hair is constantly all over the place and she literally cries, screams, throws up, and pisses onscreen. she's caustic and mean and puts up an act of carelessness but has a heart of gold. she's heavily traumatised and coping with it terribly. if anything happens to her dog she will kill everyone in this room and then herself. she spends most of the movie in a trench coat and baggy band T-shirt. she gets into bar brawls and breaks a guy's hand. she is Going Through It 24/7 and looks the part. she stabs a guy in the throat. how is everyone else not obsessed with her.
Iโm not saying that disliking Supergirl (2026) means being misogynistic. Iโm just saying that of fucking course the film about a woman who loses her shit, becomes a hero because her dog is dying, and ends up saving dozens of women and girls who were bought to be (child) brides is heavily criticized.
this is me coming full circle bc i first started posting on tumblr when i got into the supergirl CW show! anybody remembers?
kara has to be my most comfortest character... i love her so much, each and every iterations of her. i watched the movie!! i liked it a lot... i had read the comic a while ago so i have some opinions ofc but, with the amount of negativity and misogyny surrounding the movie, i prefer to keep those for my friends. either way, milly alcock did a wonderful job!!! truly an inspiring and moving portrayal of kara:)
OFC!! one of my favourite things to explore abt supergirl is her relationship w clark... the supercousins r so dear to me.
most of these drawings are my own version of supergirl though mixed with some of woman of tomorrow, the movie and the show... and well :)) lena... gorgeous gorgeous girl.
the second drawing is me thinking abt how instead of just using glasses as a disguise, maybe kara lets her eyes glow whenever shes in supergirl regalia... taking a page out of woman of tomorrow where ruthye described how kara is ALWAYS holding back instead of doing effort to gain speed or strength or anything, shes just always slowing down and controlling herself...
control, grief and anger has always appealed to me when it comes to kara. i think she's the perfect character to explore those with... yeaeyeayea
anyways! did u like the movie?
truth. justice. whatever.
goodnight i just love her so much and i love the movie so much i havenโt felt this much joy in so long
THE GOLDEN GIRLS 2.05 โ Isn't It Romantic? โ 08.11.86 Betty White as Rose Nylund Lois Nettleton as Jean
1986!!
Golden Girls was so incredibly progressive for its time and not even slightly afraid to be loud about it. They talked about queer people, about race, about ableism, and they made it central and overt. They talked about things that mattered, and they never punched down, and they were allies off the stage too.
Reblogging this again to add some context for anyone who may not know. In the 80's, being outed as gay could get you blacklisted in Hollywood. It ruined people's careers.
Bea Arthur and Betty White both suffered damage to their careers for standing up against racism and homophobia. Back in the 50s Betty White hosted a variety show that was canceled because she featured a black dancer and doubled down when they told her to stop.
rewatching make a man out of you from mulan & with all due respect for the actual story of mulan itself. this song it REALLY does feel like something made in a lab for horny gay trans guys. like the erotic tension of this is incredible.
ohhhh no ive been forced to dress up like a boy and this hot ripped dude is making me do manual labor and bullying me into being a real man!!! im collasped on the ground and he's standing over me and glaring at me with his glistening muscles!!! and then im so motivated by him that i become the best sexiest strongest coolest man, better than all the cis guys around me, and the hot scary guy has a sexuality crisis because he has fallen madly in love with me!!!!!!!!! and i get to punch him in the face and he likes it
They love each other to ๐๐๐๐๐.

oh. i just found out that the writer of the vincent van gogh doctor who episode wrote it as a tribute to his sister.
Richard Curtis wrote, "So โ hereโs the thing โ the key reason I wrote this episode โ was out of love for my sister Bindy. She was a gorgeous and brilliant person, 2 years older than me. She loved Vincent Van Gogh and life. She couldnโt have been more full of generosity and joy.
But half way through her life she was hit by depression and intermittently it hurt her for the rest of her life. And a few years before this show, like Vincent, she took her own life.
And in the key scene of the episode - when they bring Vincent to the future... that was me trying to show Bin how glorious she had been in our lives - and how nothing could change that.
And then also to deal with the fact that mental health issues are hard - and the capacity for joy, as I know Bindy did know how much she was loved, is intertwined with the immense difficulty of the illness sometimes...
So taking her own life wasnโt a failure by her, or a rejection of all of us. It was, as they say on Love island, what it was."
[Image ID: The Garfield "you are not immune to propaganda" meme, edited to say, "I am not immune to the van gogh episode of doctor who." The background of the image has been replaced with the image of the Starry Night sky from said doctor who episode. End ID.]
Ooooohh i love it even more now QwQ
