ive been sitting on this but uh ... i dont think their numbers really mean anything. i think they MADE it mean something, but initially it didn't. how do i know? the carriages that the 7 babies were brought in on were already numbered. None of them could've had/shown their powers that young and yet they already had numbers.

i’ve thought that the numbers where the order in which sir reginald purchased them. like i agree they were given out arbitrarily!

but, as you said, the kids made the numbers mean something. specifically, diego. in reginald’s notebook he writes something along the lines of 00.02 disliking 00.01 “let’s see where this goes…” (someone fact check?). so i think reginald originally gave the numbers without meaning, but then encouraged the fueds between the siblings over the meanings.

like he wanted diego to fight luther over being number 1! which to them meant being in charge (even though luther is SUCH a follower it hurts! and not in a bad way! where would leaders be without solid followers??)

maybe five understood this when he chose his name? he could have picked Five to show that someone can be “fifth” but still be hella strong and in control!! like fuck you reginald i’m so much more than your god damn number. i mean he is a smart ass so
