Appreciation

In these coronavirus times and all these mask requirements I’ve had several masks, even a face shield. In the early days I got a nice foam-like mask, but the earpiece tore.

My loving wife went into action: using a piece of an old t-shirt she hand stitched the mask into the t-shirt fabric, and I could use the mask again.

It was a good one to take along for running - not during the run, but for afterwards - for the cooling down and walk home.

It is time to discard this mask, as I now have a growing collection.

This post is a tribute to the love and effort that went into the restoration.

Teenagers in the 1980s

A had this summer job the early 80s on a sports fishing boat. A friend of the owner smuggled an M3A1 machine gun home from Vietnam. He brought it along one day on a fishing trip, and somewhere off the coast of New Jersey we had fun shooting holes into anything we managed to find on board that we could toss into our wake. Happy times.
