Things Charlie Kirk Said
I spent my whole life thinking that Wiki comes from Wikipedia but it's the other way around. Wikis predate Wikipedia by 7 years.
It's Hawaiian for 'quick' and is specifically named after the Wiki Wiki shuttle service in the Honolulu international airport.
In this horrible timeline I occasionally agree with… Ted Cruz, apparently
If a democrat was assassinated could you imagine what would be going on right now?
Just like a Nazi.
great! now do the same medical study with women
I hate anti-vaxers now. Actively loathe them. There was a time where I had a modicum of empathy and understanding for people being distrustful of the medical establishment, even though every study has shown that vaccines are safe and effective and beneficial, I know some wounds are hard to heal. Now? If you’re seeing the people regurgitating anti-vaccine misinformation and witnessing their agendas, reading the news reports of diseases that were nearly eradicated coming back to kill children again, hearing the distress and fear from medical professionals and parents of immunocompromised children and still saying “Hmm. Fuck you.” and deciding not to vaccinate your children and yourself, there is no excuse for you. You’d like to see me dead. I’m not tiptoeing around you. You’re a horrible person and a terrible parent.
Don't get married; just dress like this to go grocery shopping
The worst mistake the 19th and 20th centuries did was convince men that to look great is to be Gay™. That was enough to send male fashion straight to the gutter. A damn shame, really.

Sound I make when I notice there's perhaps a little treat or present for me
I have never felt so old in my life I'm not even 32 yet
I wish all environmentalists a very suck cocks in hell
I wish that this person would receive perfect clarity of mind about her actions and their consequences, and I wish a gun with a single bullet would be placed before her so that she could make good use of this mindstate
Step 1: Mandate alternatives to emission-heavy systems
Step 2: Fail to provide energy for said systems
Step 3: ???
Step 4: ??? still
Step 5: Guess I’ll die
Ma! Maaaaa! The Germans are blowing up their power plants again!
my favorite graph regarding nuclear
reminds me of the time I said something pro-nuclear to my ex and they said “I don’t think you’d feel that way if you grew up near a nuclear plant like I did” and I asked “oh what happened” and they were like “well. nothing. nevertheless”
no discussion of nuclear power is complete without the fact that coal and other fossil fuels very much do produce toxic and radioactive waste
Anyone who is anti-nuclear is anti-environment. Nuclear is safe, it is clean, and it is even more energy dense than fossil fuels. It might not be truly renewable, but there’s so much energy available that it doesn’t make much of a difference. To try and shut it down is to put down one of your strongest allies in the fight against fossil fuels.
Everytime this comes around again, I remember that there was a push to refit coal power plants to run on nuclear, due to the fact that other than the power source, your still just boiling water so everything else is the same.
They couldn’t get the ok to refit the coal plants tho, because the coal power plants were too radioactive to pass nuclear power plant standards.
THE COAL PLANTS WERE TOO RADIOACTIVE TO BE TURNED INTO NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS.
You know what?
My ancestors would have wanted pasteurization, vaccines, antibiotics, disinfectants, birth control, psychiatric medications, pain management, anesthesia. My ancestors would have wanted to be able to keep their loved ones around longer, and not lose them too early/too soon to childbirths, injuries, bacterial infections, mental illnesses, and diseases that are curable and/or preventable in our modern day life.
Modern medicine saves lives.
In fact, we know they did want these things, because they invented them. They gave them to us out of generations of struggling to understand and make use of nature itself. "Ancestral knowledge" includes the unglamorous things like germ theory, the functioning of the immune system, and how to manufacture lifesaving vaccines. It's not just magical or mystical or remote, it's present in our lives at every moment. It's the reward of human connection: the sum total of human discovery and the boundless ingenuity of human invention, surrounding us at all times with absolute miracles made banal by their familiarity.
If we reject modern medicine, then we reject all the labors and trials our ancestors went through for us; we reject our very nature.
Please, for your ancestors' sake: vaccinate your kids, and take your goddamn medicine.
i've had this garfield panel saved forever and i even marked in my calendar today as "the monday that wouldn't die" so uh. happy(?) monday the 22nd aka the monday that wouldn't die
"if we can't remove people from a space based on sex or gender, how do we make sure people in the group stay safe from assholes?" if you can have an enforceable "no men" rule in a queer space you could probably have an enforceable "no assholes" rule instead. it's pretty easy actually. it's actually easier to tell if someone is an asshole based on their actions than their gender, in my experience.
