Reblog if itās ok for people to give you $599.99
Please donāt hesitate
1 penny below reporting limit for the IRS⦠I see what you did there
(Donāt give me $599.99)
Thatās not the right IRS rule.
$599.99 is the amount below which a business does not need to issue a 1099 to a contractor who provides business services. The contractor still needs to report the income on their taxes.
The correct number for the IRS rule for money that is giftedĀ rather than received in a business transaction is $13999.99āmore than that, and the recipient has to pay tax on the gift and report it to the IRS. Less than that, and thereās no taxation or reporting requirement.
If weāre choosing amounts on the basis of IRS limits,Ā give these people $13,999.99.Ā
Go. Do it.

Gentle reminder that the human eye is naturally drawn by noise and movement, so the next time you walk into a crowd or a bit late into a lecture or something like that, theyāre not staring at you or judging; itās just an instinctive reaction that has nothing to do with you doing anything wrong.
This really helps my anxiety.

Is there any hatred stronger than the rage kids get towards Barney the dinosaur as soon as they are just a little too old for Barney the dinosaur
So, this guy, Martin Pistorius, fell into a coma when he was 12 years old and eventually awoke completely paralyzed, at least physically. He was misdiagnosed. Doctors believed he was in a completely vegetative state, but in reality, he had regained full consciousness and awareness. He just didnāt possess any motor function, so he couldnāt communicate to anyone that he was alive in there. He lived this way for 12 years before he overcame it by sheer force of will and was given the tools to communicate. He tells his story in his book, Ghost Boy. Since then heās also been the subject of the first episode of Invisibilia on NPR and had his own TedTalk.
Anyway, the breaking point that incited his plan of escape was being forced to watch Barney reruns all day, everyday at his care center. Sitting in front of the TV, he learned to tell the time by the shadows on the wall. If he had time he could know when Barney would end. With the ability to measure his days, he was able to pull himself out of the void and ultimately start down the path to recovery. Today, Martin can communicate whatever he wants with the help of a computer program, but thereās one thing he canāt articulate: āI cannot even express to you how much I hated Barney.ā
So it turns out that the primal hatred people have toward Barney is strong enough to pull a disembodied consciousness out of the abyss of existential despair and into the physical world out of pure spite

I hate that the Dairy Queen cashiers have to flip your blizzard upside down before giving it to you. I hate it. I know itās most likely going to stay in itās cup and I know I get a free one if it doesnāt, but the cocktail of a potential disaster and the cashier apologizing to what is most definitely a horrified me, having to sit in a drive-thru while someone behind me just bore witness to my fucking salted caramel blondie blizzard splattering on the asphalt, melting away while they mix me another one and i pray to god that they donāt flip it upside down again, is just a stress that I find entirely unnecessary. I trust itās thick, just give me your word and iāll be on my merry way.
I just imagined how it would feel to have them flip your second blizzard and have it spill too and I felt my shoulders physically tense
Iāve only been to DQ like 3 times in my life but the 2nd time I ordered a milkshake or something and I heard about DQ drinks not spilling when you flip them. I was not aware that this ability was only relegated to their blizzards. So long story short I said āhey, look at thisā to my family and they watched me pour my milkshake on the ground.
