there is something about Michael Afton being an angsty bored disrespectful teen that is so dear to my heart. and I think part of the reason why I love it so much is because (in my mind) he's almost, like, a stereotype of what a teenager is, except that he's entirely justified? like, idk. he's fully going through The Horrors. his dad is abusive, his siblings are dead, he's either being haunted or going crazy, he has weirdly vivid nightmares most nights, and he thinks his dad is almost definitely the child serial killer that nobody ever caught. so like, yeah, he's gonna drag his feet and find field trips and group projects annoying and beneath him, he's gonna roll his eyes in the teacher's face, he's gonna sleep in class and barely ever turn any homework in. because he's so far removed from feeling like any of that "normal life" stuff is important. it's like he's living in a completely different dimension and he's the only one who knows. but to the world he's just... a teenager acting out. and maybe a satanist, because it's the 80s and he wears band t-shirts
