Rare picture of Layne circa 1992
'Hey'
“ This one is probably my favorite. It was shot on the set of the music video ‘Again’ in 1996. It was an all night shoot in an empty warehouse in downtown L.A. At some point in the wee hours of the morning I wandered out to the loading dock to have a cigarette. And there was Layne, alone. Combing his hair without a mirror. He said, 'Hey'. ”

just read an abstract of a study coming out later this year, they interviewed 300 people who use drugs (PWUD) in baltimore and 87% of them said they would participate in a prescribed safer supply program. There were three general motivations for this: “Safety from overdose and other hazards of unpredictable street drugs; Reduced drug market crime and violence; and Life stability due to managed use and regular services.” i don’t know if you understand how rare it is to get a number that high for agreeing to participate in substance use disorder treatment services. it would be amazing if PWUD could access a safe supply of their drug of choice, prescribed and observed by medical professionals, who can help them manage withdrawal if/when the client is ready. with counseling available if necessary to help the client through the stages of change. do you know how many deaths something like that would prevent? that’s my dream. i know lots of people see addiction as a moral failing, and that PWUD should be punished. so the idea of just, like, giving them legal drugs feels like encouraging vice. but vice isn’t a real thing. no matter how much these people want PWUD to be punished, harm reduction is what actually saves lives. always has been and always will be.
He’s so pretty
hate it when the people who I love are suffering due to circumstances beyond my control 👎 there should be a sea monster that I can slay to fix the problem
