I don’t know you...
I gently push the door in. My step is soft, the layer of dust on the floor swallows all the noise. Footsteps leading forward and there, there’s a mark of a pirouette under the dome of your asleep soul. Moonlight breaks through the dome’s stained glass, paint me blue and golden, like the night sky of your dreams. My heart pulses, creating disturbance in the dust of years around the place, stirring up memories from the corner, and each speck carries you within. This one’s witty. That one is humble. A taste of fright. A pinch of bravery. A sense of purpose. A touch of foolishness. You yourself are an entire universe.
Flashbacks of a girl you kissed first, the first time being cross, the shade of light on your cheeks, relieved when you knew at last it’s all gonna be okay when she clung onto you like a promise of never letting you go.
Yet she did. I watch your heart shatter. The shadow shifting over your face permanently. What a ghostly scene as it replays on the edge of your subconscious, miles deep down in this dream. Unsettled and lost you raise your gaze at me, a familiar sensation crawls over you. Almost like a deja vu. I stand still, smile. Crystal blue dahlia dressed in golden lace and starry eyes observing you patiently. Your eyes close and your mouth give shape to a silent prayer.
I kiss you softly, carefully. Feeling your chest expand as you breathe in, reducing the distance between us. I inhale you. Fill your lungs with fantasies of summer sunset kisses that taste like strawberry champagne. Hiding under the same blanket on a snowy winter afternoon by the fireplace sipping on Irish hot cocoa. Photographs of you and me dancing in a swirl of petal shower late spring. And the ever-changing shades of colours of my love I feel for you just like autumn leaves bathing in September rain.
I don’t know you, but all I know is that I want to. The second you bump into me by the door of the little English Café by the main road, flashbacks roam through my veins and take my breath away for a split second.
All I know is, that I want to.
