Hieronymus Bosch
He looks a bit different than I imagined.
Either I really threw off my electrolyte balance this week (big conference means dehydration, wine, and going short on sleep) or it’s just day 38 of a 42-day-long research trip and I’m just hitting the wall, or maybe I just really find the British monarchy to be so uninteresting that I gave myself a migraine, but either way for my first non-work day in what feels like months, I spent the morning chasing the preschooler around a palace and the afternoon horizontally self-medicating with espresso and Tylenol.
my place of work has just restricted and forbidden the use of AI tools and any use will treated as a security and policy breach

Don’t you agree that, on one’s first visit to Florence, one must have a room with a view?

joy of life:
The people and the emperor, who is more important in the end?
A comforting thought for anyone feeling stuck right now: fields have to lie fallow for a season so the soil can rest and recover its nutrients. trees look entirely dead in the winter, but underneath the bark, they are preparing for spring. you are allowed to have fallow seasons. you are allowed to be in a winter state. your productivity does not define your worth as a human being, nor does it define your talent as an artist or a creator. if the words aren't flowing, or the art isn't coming together, or you just feel tired—let yourself rest without the crushing weight of guilt. you aren't failing; you are gathering the nutrients you need for the next beautiful thing you make. 🤍

— The Hallowed Hunt (World of the Five Gods) by Lois McMaster Bujold
in which murderbot is a very normal terracotta soldier and ART the dragon spirit of a chinese junk who dwells in the ship's keel. they meet in the ming dynasty perhaps, when ppl are sailing places extra willy-nilly.
*Nüwa is the mother goddess in chinese mythology, known for creating humanity from yellow clay and repairing the sky.
thank you @mutualrapport for hosting the event! original prompt below.
[drawn for the prompt: an AU of ART and MB's first meeting and conversation - e.g. another look at their first meeting from a fantasy, historical, or (non-canon) sci-fi lens! Any perspective is fine. The only constraint is that it cannot be set in the canon universe. Any visibly non-canon AU- fantasy, human, historical, etc. - anything goes!]
