i tried to be funny and it backfired miserably
it’s 2014 it’s time we moved on as a nation and stop reblogging this
every person who reblogs this in 2015 is gonna get their ass kicked by yours truly
hey op good news
do you guys remember “kick his ass baby i got yo flower”
this is like asking a medieval christian monk if he remembers the ten commandments like if not what have I been wasting my years learning

This is how I expected the world to work.
ahmed fouad alkhatib, a palestinian-american from gaza, recently published this proposal
Aerial food drops over Gaza could help prevent a famine while bypassing security and distribution challenges.
Contact the President, Vice President, get help with a Federal Agency, or ask a question about WhiteHouse.gov.
so I just finished submitting an email to the white house asking for the U.S to consider and implement food airdrop aid to Gaza while using/linking to Ahmed's article. I think everyone else should try to do so as well.
Everyone in the notes:
They killed the olive trees. They killed the little children. They killed the unborn. They killed the father. They killed the mother. They killed the journalist. They killed the journalists entire family. They killed all the aunts and uncles. They killed the doctors. They killed the soul of his soul. They killed the groom. They killed the bride. They killed the cats. They killed the elderly people older than their apartheid state. They killed the thousands of memories painted on the walls. They killed 30,000+ Palestinians that we will never get back. [@/ missfalsteenia on X. 01/07/24.]
i just had a realization and its that bisexuality is so “complex” to lesbians/gay men because its a really personal experience for each bisexual
for example me im bi but i have a prefrence for women and some people would put me in a box to say im “just gay & havent realized it yet”
What if there was an apocalypse but some people were really really in denial and optimistic and thinking everything will be back to normal soon?
Like they’d be foraging through the ruins of New York for supplies, shooting raiders in the face and saying “Man, this recession is really bad, huh?”
Umm….
ARE YOU KIDDING ME
this post, plus that satire one about the increasingly ridiculous callout culture that slowly became more and more accurate
this one
was anything going on in 2017??? did everyone randomly have prophetic visions????????
Another one from 2017 by @nullsynth
the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
turns out we had the 2020 vision after all
“the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls” is actually a really fucking metal quote and i will be using it in the future
@handoverthehands it’s from Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel. Referenced as well in Spirit of the Radio by Rush and again in Disturbed’s cover of the original.
And that in itself was a reference to the Book of Daniel from the bible, when the words of the prophet were written on the Babylonian palace walls.
In the real world, it’s not the kings and people in power who see the signs of doom, but the poor people in the subway, helpless to stop it.
what happened on this post
Nothing. This is normal for tumblr
Is it just me or are the new tumblr users convinced there's a penalty of some kind for using this site like it's meant to be used?
reblogs have always been in short supply for artists, sadly, but it's hitting the shitposts and even the cat pictures lately. Gotta keep getting the word out that reblogs are good and keep people posting new material that will be passed around for the next 12 years
They’re used to other social media sites, where the only equivalent of reblogging is straight-up content theft; so the idea that you can put someone else’s stuff on your page and have it not be a bad thing is a strange experience for them.
They’re likely also used to an algorithm recommending content based on what they hit “like” on, so they probably think that that’s how this works, too.
"If stuff was just handed to me I'd have no motivation to do anything! That's human nature!" No, babe, that's depression. Psychologically healthy people are still motivated to do things even when their survival isn't being actively threatened.
[Image description: tweet by Roxi Horror @roxiqt on March 30, 2022 at 11:13 AM: “’Oh, so you think everyone should just be handed enough money to live?’ lol. lmao. yeah.”]
okay so like, we all know that housekeeping in a hotel is a Shit Job, right?
I worked with a woman who was independently wealthy. But she liked working housekeeping. So she did. And if the manager got bitchy with her, she’d just shrug and be like “Okay, I can quit.”
Like the manager treated her like a human being because she knew she had to because otherwise she’d lose one of her best workers.
Yes, everyone should be just handed the money to live.
I worked with a lady who’s husband made more than enough to support them both. She just did the retail to have something to do with herself part-time.
There’s a lot of people who’d happily do the same sort of thing. Honestly? A lot of the jobs we consider “shitty” jobs? Are shitty because the employees are treated like garbage.
If employees weren’t being screwed over by people higher up the chain constantly or being forced to kiss the asses of customers currently shitting all over them, those jobs would by and large be a whole lot more bearable, and appealing to more people!!
Plus rich people are just handed a lot of money, whether they earn it or not, and no one questions that. Only poor people getting money gets interrogated over and over and over again.
I’d like to add a footnote to this thread that the US gives more money (by way of the income tax reduction) to homeowners than it does to poor people who need subsidized housing.
My best teacher in high school was the guy who had previously made a ton of money that he could’ve retired at like 30. Man just wanted to teach teenagers.
If people as a whole were handed enough money to live on, maybe more people like him wouldn’t be put off by the poor salary teachers make. (also teachers should be paid a lot more)
i really think the saying there's no ethical consumption under capitalism has become a phrase to excuse giving money to avoidable awful companies rather than a reality check. like if you're poor there's a good chance you have no choice but to shop from brands with less than ideal practices solely bc you can't afford to buy everything ethically sourced (not to mention in certain areas it's next to impossible to find those goods in general) but when it comes to chikfila that is an optional place to eat that is incredibly mask off with anti lgbt policies....... not quite the clapback to just say there's no ethical consumption under capitalism. like YEAH but you could just rip off their sauce recipe from online 🥴
I would like to remind people that Chick-fil-A has recently been contributing to anti-transgender laws. This is recent. Do not eat here.
"There is no truly ethical consumption under Capitalism" & "There is particularly unethical consumption under Capitalism" are statements that can both be true simultaneously.
I think this is a great idea.
