This story is about a fisher Mc and Mermaid Chuuya. The Mc has to help fish boy learn to walk and get back to land. This is supposed to be the scene in which the MC frees chuuya from the tank he's kept in, and he quickly trying to shush them.

I needed some inspiration to draw, so why not draw mermaid chuuya and show appreciation for their cute story so far🥰

I tried to make the MC without any real defining features and well make the two look like kids since they are young right here but I don't typically draw kids so bandaids and untied shoes??😭

A little PSA for people who use AO3…

Gen refers to fic that is not focused on romance. If your fic is not a romance fic, please give it this tag.

Other refers to fic that is focused on romance, but is not specifically male/female, male/male, or female/female (like an OT3 (ship involving 3 people), a ship involving characters that are not male or female, etc). IT IS NOT FOR PLATONIC RELATIONSHIPS. IT IS FOR ROMANTIC ONES. please for the love of all that is holy do not tag your family-relationship-centered fics as “other” you are going to give people a HEART ATTACK.

“Character/Character” is for romantic pairs. “Character & Character” is for platonic relationships like friendship, family, etc. Please do not tag family-centered or adult-and-minor-centered platonic character relationships as character/character for the love of all that is holy

The E rating is for smut and literally nothing else (unless you have other unusual reasons to rate it E–I’ve seen people apply it to non-smut fics as a deterrent to keep minors away from it, but keep in mind it’ll make it so people who are trying to avoid smut will not find your fic). Your fic that has a lot of graphic violence but no sexual content does not need an E rating.

The M rating is for fics that would basically be rated R if they were movies, and may contain graphic violence, some sexual content, and generally more serious subject matter than you would typically show a teenager. However, if your fic is almost entirely smut, please just give it an E rating.

Also, when you post a fic, you WILL want to give it a rating, or else AO3 will assume you’re probably posting smut and will warn everybody who clicks on your fic that it may contain adult content. If you don’t want that on your fic that contains no adult content at all, please just give it the proper rating instead of not rating it at all.

“Creator Chose Not to Archive Warnings” means that at least one or more of the archive warnings (that is, “Major Character Death,” “Graphic Depictions of Violence,” “Rape/Non-Con,” or “Underage”) DOES apply to your story, and you’re choosing not to say which one it is. If you select this option, AO3 will put a warning on the fic that potential readers have to click through.

“No Archive Warnings Apply” means that none of the aforementioned archive warnings apply to your fic.

THESE ARE NOT THE SAME THING. IF YOUR FIC DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING MAJOR THAT NEEDS TO BE WARNED FOR, PLEASE SELECT “NO ARCHIVE WARNINGS APPLY.”

Also, for the love of everything on earth, please stop marking your fics as complete when they are not? The chapter function of an incomplete fic should look like this:

number/? OR number/higher number

If you mark it as (for example) 4/4, you’re telling readers that the COMPLETE story has FOUR chapters and ALL FOUR have been posted, meaning once you read all four you will have reached the end point of the fic. It’s unfair to readers when an incomplete fic is marked this way.

Worth noting that occasionally people may use “creator chose not to warn” as their only option for “while none of these specific warnings applies, there is something of comparable trigger potential which I want readers to be aware of before they click into the fic,” the most common of which being major abuse themes.

amendment: “chose not to use warnings” can be used to say “one of these MIGHT apply.” i use it and see it used a lot when a fic which may or may not include major character death, for example, and the fic doesn’t want to spoil whether or not all the characters survive

it doesn’t GUARANTEE that any of those warnings are applicable, but it does warn that they MIGHT be and you should prepare yourself accordingly

slightly condescending frustration aside (because from experience many of these meanings aren’t easy to differentiate or are easy to miss - like the chapter one) the “chose not to use content warnings” can be used for any fic like the reply right above me suggests - it’s a spoiler free way of indicating an archive warning may apply

unless - because i’ve seen this - you use no archive warnings apply and creator chose not to use archive warnings. now… it’s weird that AO3 even lets you do this, because “none apply” is an archive warning in its own way - one that imo most people take as the truth if one of the warnings isn’t actually selected.

i presume people do this to indicate “could be marginal but i don’t think the warning applies” or “not archive warnings but could be triggering” but generally… this is a really confusing combo so unless you explain in the opening notes/summary, try and pick one or the other.

‘Chose not to use archive warnings’ as I’ve seen it most is generally used on things that aren’t exactly ‘no warnings apply’ (fluff, normal angst, romcom-ish, run of the mill ‘I want these characters to kiss’ sorts of things) but don’t fit into ‘graphic violence’ or ‘rape/non-con’ or ‘character death’. So things like themes of abuse/homophobia/transphobia or dubious consent or if it’s a fic for a horror fandom, indicating that Yes There’s Canon-Typical Horror Content. Occasionally I have seen it used with ‘canon-typical violence’ if the author doesn’t want to but the graphic violence warning. I also see authors use it on fics to acknowledge that the content is fucked up in a different way than the other warnings (ie. the characters are trapped in a collapsing building, POV character struggles with depression/suicidal thoughts, one character goes through a massive amount of trauma, etc.)

PLEASE don’t play no-spoilers by leaving something important untagged, or if you do chose to undertag, make a note of it at the beginning and give the full content warning in the end notes.

I do agree that whenever it wouldn’t ruin the narrative tension you should tag as much as you can, especially warnings, or put it in a description that can be skipped if someone’s not looking for a particular situation regardless of whether it’s key to the story! But people are still writing stories, if they don’t want it to be spoiled in the tags before a reader sees a single line I think that’s aight.

A cool update to AO3 would be the ability to hide some tags in a spoiler warning to get it properly archived, to allow for people with triggers to see them, but still have that narrative tension maintained - and expand the archive warnings with a few other common triggers too, i’m shocked suicide/SH isn’t there for example. But!! Yeah, that’s why “chose not to use archive warnings” and “no archive warnings apply” is a weird combo to me?
