I’m kinda surprised that nalbinding isn’t as popular as crochet and knitting tbh because it has an even lower barrier of entry tools wise and unlike crochet and knitting it makes fabric that you can cut.
I guess it’s because it’s slower or something.
Nalbinding aka needle binding is when you use yarn and a big sewing needle to make fabric btw
It also has a lot of different kinds of stitches you can do that make different densities of fabric.
Some people even make rugs.
I feel like part of it might be casual people are generally aware of the existence of crochet and knitting, even if they don’t know very much about either, but have never heard of nalbinding
Yeah I hadn’t heard of it until recently and I ordered a big bone needle for myself to try it out and that should be arriving soon.
I was surprised that I’d never heard of it though. It’s older than knitting and crocheting and even though it’s been done all over the world it’s super relevant to Nordic culture and my grandmother and I are both into keeping in touch with our roots a bit so I’m surprised I’ve never heard of it.
It seems like the sort of thing that would be popular even if not as popular as crocheting and knitting, considering the low barrier of entry.
You also don’t need a bunch of different sized needles for nalbinding or whatever. The size of the stitch is controlled either completely freehand or by pulling it against one of your fingers. Most people who have a lot of nalbinding needles seem to either have tried out wood, bone, and metal ones to see which kind they liked or they enjoy carving wood or bone and like making their own needles as an extra hobby.
It’s also a lot easier to freehand and adjust as you go than crochet or knitting and you mostly go by inches instead of rows and number of stitches so a large number of accessories like stitch markers or whatever isn’t really necessary.
Maybe the lack of accessories also makes it unpopular idk. People do like collecting things in their nests.
I've been wanting to do so, I cannot find anyone who can teach me, and any books I can find on it are Ass in the Visual Learning department. Otherwise I'd be making the hell outta some nalbinded fabric
I found this channel by a nice man who makes up close tutorials
I create videos on YouTube to learn people how to needlebind using two fingers and your thumb. Needlebinding helps people to relax, relieve

Ooh thank you for the tag! It is going in my hoard of links and such.
I am fascinated by nalbinding, but I'm also still working on my panic at cutting yarn to do colour changes in crochet (because then I can't undo it and reuse the yarn) so I feel like nalbinding will by necessity have to come after I can cut yarn without crying like, at least 80% of the time.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

these miis are driving me nuts
Why do we infantilize Bumblebee, esspcially TFONE?
"Oh he's Elita's and Opi's son!"
That is a grown ass man who had a job. Granted. Forced job but a job.
If anyone is the more "mom" one its Bumblebee. He helped D and Orion get out, he thinking walking inna scary cave isn't a good idea, he brought FUCKING SNACKS. He even had to grab Elita to keep her from jumping after Orion, and he wnet to go fight Megatron.
Being talkative and a lil being choatic/silly doesn't equal kids. If anything I think Bee is Older than Dee and Orion maybe a little older than Elita.
An older dude who's been deprived of interaction who now has new friends ♡
merry fuckmas to all who celebrate
this year i have discovered transformers so some bees and tailgate are learning from the master.
i mainly just put rb bee here as an excuse to draw him again i actually dont know much about aligned ive only played wfc+foc DOES NOT COUNT YOU CAN'T MAKE ME and watched s1 of rb. perhaps animated bee would be more fitting but i haven't watch tfa or interacted w the fandom enough to know.
bonus how did b-127 get thru that door not on his own thats for sure.
It’s fascinating hearing how other people think. My dad says he has to think of a full sentence word for word before he says it whereas I don’t know what I’m gonna say until I’ve already said it.
I mostly think in words and sounds so you’d think that I would know the wording of what I’m gonna say before I say it but no almost every single word manifests as I say it.
I know what I’m gonna say but I don’t know exactly what I’m gonna say you know what I mean
I think in full sentences but they’re usually entirely separate from what I’m saying, I also have no idea what I’m going say until I’m saying it

so! new theory about my current favorite fictional homosexual- Rosty Nowman. we all know by now that he has some kind of connection to Elfie, with the popular theory being that he's a kind of genderbent clone.
I don't like this theory. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth, as he is pretty distinctly his own character and person within the series. this theory takes away his agency in the story, and while I can see how him being a mask for Elfie can be appealing to some the idea it might be true leaves me feeling vaguely disappointed. besides---he's already somewhat a victim of the "bury your gays" trope from what I've heard (haven't gotten to that part yet). taking everything else from him would make him feel hollow, as opposed to the mysterious and affectionate queer-coded roommate that I love.
In lieu of this theory I strive to propose an alternate. we all know by now his name is a pun on "frosty the snowman". this is often used as evidence for the previous theory, as (pretty famously) frosty the snowman was a snowman brought to life by magic. I'd like to take the parallels further than that. what if he was a creation of ice and snow, but just like frosty he had a vibrant personality of his own? the ice clones are only the first of twelve spells, and it stands to reason Elfie could have experimented further with creating ice homunculi.
I don't have the time as of now to collect solid evidence, but I feel like this satisfies every part of me against the popular theory and explains many of the same things the popular theory does. Rosty is still his own person, but he could have still been created by Elfie in an attempt to keep Will safe. it would also explain the connections between Rosty and Elfie, at least somewhat.
it also creates an interesting character dynamic---how do you act when you were made as an act of love for another person, meant to keep them safe, happy, and loved? do you feel jealous? do you wish you were your creator when you learn how much your person loves them?
generally, I think this theory is a lot funner. it also makes me imagine Rosty in a Frankenstein costume which I may or may not realize.
