“You gonna step in and referee this shit?” Rafe asks, cocking his head towards the others.

“Oh, absolutely not,” Kie replies. “You?”

“Think I’ll follow your lead on this one.”

She knocks her leg into his side. “Look at you. Getting smarter every day.”

His hand catches her, slipping his fingers around her ankle. His fingers are large enough to encircle her ankle completely. Kiara’s breath catches a little at the contact – it was only last night those hands had been all over her body, the rough calluses rubbing against her skin.

She wonders if he’s thinking about it, too. The way his eyes travel slowly up from her ankle along the length of her leg makes her think he just might be.

“I’ve always been smart.”

“Mm,” Kiara hums noncommittally. “Sure.”

“Smarter than you,” he insists.

His thumb is rubbing circles on the inside of her ankle, distracting her, but she manages to bark a laugh all the same. “That’s adorable that you think so.”

“Wow – adorable?” He smiles, the expression lighting his eyes with amusement. “Thanks, sweetheart. I appreciate that.”

She rolls her eyes so dramatically he laughs under his breath.

"What?" she asks, wiggling her ankle in a petulant attempt to free herself from his grasp.

Rafe holds tight, his smile widening. She glances down to see the muscles of his forearm flex beneath the snake tattoo inked there.

"You always do that," he murmurs.

"Do what?"

"The eye roll."

"Maybe because you’re always saying ridiculous, eye-roll-worthy things."

"I've never said a ridiculous thing in my life."

She looks at him, raising her eyebrows. "Oh, now that's your funniest one yet."

i don't really want to weight in on the "using big words in your writing is ableist" discourse happening on tiktok because i'm like 90% certain it's an anti-intellectual psyop to stir up drama in online circles to promote the use of ai to summarize literally everything and thus feeding the LLMs and lowering the populace's mistrust of such tools but i also have to say: dictionaries and thesauruses are the most accessible they've ever been. if you use an e-reader of any kind you can look up a word without leaving the page. there's a plethora of online dictionaries and if you just type a word + "meaning" into google it'll usually give you a definition. we used to have pocket dictionaries we used when reading in class. i have two on my shelf right now that i used in high school. stop letting the fascists purposefully misuse anti-ableism rhetoric to trick you into never thinking again.

In a feigned attempt to prove he had some control, he roughly grabbed her hips only for her to pull his hands off of her, pinning them beside his head. It was addicting, knowing just how much she wanted him. He chased each sway of her lips and brush of her tongue. 

Her hold on one of his wrists disappeared and distantly, he heard a soft shuffling sound beside him, but couldn’t bring himself to care. Breath warm against his face, she broke the kiss and with his eyes closed he felt her guiding both of his hands above his head.

The wood of the table leg pressed against the back of his hand. Then he felt the familiar brush of rope being looped and tucked around his wrists. 

Following her gaze, Rafe tilted his head to the side and saw the bag of shit he brought inside had fallen. Only the double-braided nylon line he’d gotten for his boat wasn’t in it anymore.

With a half-tug, he felt the bite of braided nylon against his wrists as he looked up. 

She’d used a bowline knot to fucking tie him to the coffee table leg. 

Rafe knew he could easily get free, but that wasn’t the fucking point.

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” he breathed, mouth open as his eyes flicked back to her.

He watched her lean back against his thighs, the metal clinking as she went back to undo his belt. She then plucked at the button and tugged the zipper down as she tossed her curls over one shoulder.

“No, I’m not. Not really shocking that you can’t act freaking normal or talk about the reason you’re pissed off,” she huffed, tugging his pants down as he lifted his hips to help her. 

He sucked at his teeth, unable to stop the corner of his mouth lifting into an amused pull. 

“Okay, fine. I admit, I should’ve waited to talk. Alright? Now, you gonna tell me what the plan is, Kie?” he asked, inhaling sharply through his teeth when she rubbed her palm against the outline of him. “Shit…”

Kie shifted herself higher, straddling his hips to have his bulge pressed between her thighs.

Omg, first of all thank you so much!! I'm so glad you love my Riara fics. I have had so much fun writing for them. I 1000% plan to still write for a long time. They’re one of those ships for me. Especially with the new season coming out! I'm so ready for new moments with them. I will be making GIFs too.

As for your questions about those two fics, yes! I plan on continuing both of them. I'm so glad you're loving them.

Specifically for Let Me Guess You're Not Leaving, I am actually updating very very soon for sure. Chapter 9 is almost done. I have the end part of the last scene to finish writing. SUPER close. And I will say it is another 10k word chapter.

WHICH that means, this fic is now officially longer than Anything But Your Enemy. Now, I'm going to try to get it posted tonight. We shall see if this last part stops fighting me. lol. If not, It could be posted tomorrow.

Now, For You, I do plan on writing more for this fic. I have plenty of things planned and drafts of where I want the story to go. However, I think I am probably going to finish Let Me Guess You're Not Leaving before going back to it. They're different vibes and I think sometimes it's easy to struggle with going between fics. At least for me. lol.

I will say one last update about Let Me Guess, the end of the fic may be in sight and I will say, people might hate me for a scene that's planned. SORRY in advance.
