So, like many others I got Tomodachi Life for my birthday and...

Suffice to say I've been having a good time.

I didn't even have to do anything to make Florid happen, I booted up my demo import and it immediately began with them asking eachother out. It just knew.

Jade singing, Ace in plaid like his ghost bride suit, Rook crying, Azul toasting with Champagne. 10/10 game 👏

Every Floyd I've made looks slightly demented but I've become charmed by it. The game has just decided he is the Universe's favorite; he eagerly bounces in place; he cooks; he breakdances in the ocean.

I tried to get him to befriend Azul but no matter how many times they hang out, they just refuse to change their status to being actual friends (so ya know. Accurate.)

I gave him that maid dress as a joke early on and he has never changed into anything else. It was the most happiness he ever generated over anything. It's like he's trolling me about it now, so you know what, he wins, you do you, Jade

I ran out of fitting quirks for rewards so I gave him the guitar for the band reference-- and that was the correct decision because now he just stands in the sea singing about terrariums.

I've tweaked Azul's design here and there but personalitywise he seems as close as he could be.

Stays in, on his laptop, thinking of business things (and predicting the Riddle proposal, apparently)

He talks himself up in conversations. And frequently looks gobsmacked by the tweels, despite living with them.

Because. Jade just decided to move in with Floyd in middle of the night. While Azul was sleeping

I've been playing Axel from KH2 on dreamwidth for the better half of a year now and pitting him against a cast from different canonpoints has been a hilarious experience when everyone knows the future but him.

This a a reminder to not fall victim to the sunk-cost fallacy. Just because you invested time and energy into something, does not mean you should indefinitely waste more time and energy on it, if you decide it’s not what you want anymore. This goes for anything, from books, to relationships, to jobs, to hobbies, etc.

If it’s not serving you anymore, move on.

This is honestly one of the places I find Marie Kondo's advice most helpful. I stop, look at the thing I've spent time and money on only to realize I dislike, and I say, "Thank you for teaching me something about myself and my preferences. I think I've learned this particular lesson and we can part ways now."

And then I don't feel like I "wasted" things or made a mistake. I just tried one path of learning about myself, learned something, and now it's time for a different path. Works a lot better for my brain.

The time Marie Kondo said "you can thank a a shirt you've never worn for teaching you about your taste", thereby making it NOT A WASTE literally rewired my whole brain. Acknowledge the thing and move forward, even if that means leaving the thing behind.

guys, i work at an aquarium and my coworkers and i have literally laughed at this for three days straight. everytime we pass each other we whisper “current events” and crack up. our customers think we are nuts.
