You could say that the four Alcaraz brothers grew up on the tennis courts. The club served as a playground, that place where every parent has spent hours and hours pushing their child on the swings or standing guard while they went up the slide over and over again. Carlos Sr. would take his sons to the club when they got out of school, around five o’clock, and there they were afternoon after afternoon, practicing, until their mother picked them up or until he finished his classes or work there and they went home, often around nine o’clock at night.
The truth is that Virginia has been a truly courageous and resilient mother, her constant display of strength has helped set the family’s exact course, keeping things under control and ensuring the ship runs smoothly. Always steering in the right direction, she has been a source of care, affection, and complete dedication. She and Carlos have always been the perfect team. The family of a child who competes in a sport has to be fully involved, everyone has to pitch in. Taking him to and from practice, tournaments every weekend, and all that without neglecting to supervise his academic responsibilities or care for his other siblings.”
