Anyways I’ve seen ppl say that Wiress was useless as a mentor for 12 and like… did we read the same book? You mean the Wiress that was the one to give Haymitch the advice to avoid the bloodbath and look for water? The very advice he would go on to give Katniss and Peeta and likely all of his previous tributes? That Wiress? And the one who suggested to find arena clues in the first place??????? I swear to god come on! Haymitch felt more of a connection to Mags bc she resembled a motherly figure, someone who would hold him and offer him kind words, and Mags gave amazing support and advice but it was Wiress whom gave the most practical advice! Ppl need to understand that both women were vital for the plot and contributed to it hugely!! Honestly that’s a bit on Suzanne too bc there was so much more she could do with the mentors and they weren’t explored too deeply but still!
It’s a trend I’ve noticed ever since Catching fire bc a lot of people overlooked her contribution to, oh I don’t know.. CRACKING THE ARENA and now some people are acting like she was unimportant in SOTR.. that woman needs her long overdue flowers
so, this finale literally gave us 1. the most horrible mistreatment of poc companion since martha jones, 2. mistreatment of first male queer black doctor who was also possibly fired bc of his political views, 3. mistreatment of classic who characters like omega and the rani who's in some way essential to lore, 4. misogynistic pro-life propaganda, 5. piss and shit instead of plot. but most of you forgot about it because you got your fucking white woman back for nostalgia points. as if you wouldn't have cancelled chibnall in the first second for same shit.
i was there for the "first black companion of doctor who spends her entire arc in the shadow of rtd's favourite overhyped blonde woman" era during rtd's first run and it was such an uncomfortable viewing the first time around, and i cannot fucking believe rtd's racism hasn't changed a fucking inch in 20 years to give us "first black doctor's exit is overshadowed by the same overhyped blonde woman" again. in 20 YEARS.

Everyone in this world is just living their lives, each with their own complex needs and desires and interests and emotions. They all have hobbies and friends and families and favorite foods. They all have their own motivations and varying political opinions and views on their governments. They all weigh the risks of standing out or speaking up and they all make their own decisions about that.
They all fear the same in times of danger. They all feel grief and pain and terror the same. They all love and hate and bleed the same.
They are people. They are no different from anyone else, they are not monsters or caricatures or nameless bodies in videos. Complexity and humanity are not exclusive to your country, to people like you.
