@burgershopsammi I think I've seen someone else making the same (very good) point recently, and in the YEARS I've been playing Skyrim, it never hit me !
...anyways, now I'm in the middle of a 14-(small) page comic, sooooo... Thanks for the extra dose of brainworms !
I love the very idea of the paris catacombs like. yeah sure the real-life city of paris has a straight-up megadungeon sprawling under it. Why not.
When I become president I will build a dungeon in every state capital in the US. There will be gargoyles and slimes in Bismarck within a year.
We have one in Chicago! It's called Lower Wacker, but experienced parties can try Lower Lower Wacker for monsters with a greater challenge rating.
Here you can see a Lower Wacker Minotaur fleeing combat with a regular sized rat.
I got robbed by a regular sized rat under lower Wacker once...

My fellow Andor friends who are obsessed with "We Are The Ghor" (especially the orchestra version), I have recs for similar songs!
It really reminded me of elvish, so a lot of these are Tolkien related
First is "Nolwa Mahtar" from Rings of Power. It has the sopranos and the choral element but is more aggressive than mournful (which makes sense, given that the title means "Brave Warrior" in Quenya)
Next is "Golden Leaves" from Rings of Power. It's got a very mournful tone and simple tune, but is sung by a man instead of at woman. Very beautiful!
Next is "The Pyre" from Rings of Power. It's also very mournful (because it's the background for a funeral) and soprano-ish
Next is "Candles on the Tide" from Rings of Power. This one actually has three phases. The first is a solemn men's choir, which sounds more like soundtrack music than an actual song meant for singing. The second phase is a women's choir, which transitions from the soundtrack style into a more personal singing style. The third phase is a man singing alone. I really like this one for Ghorman because it's sad, hopeful, and desperate all at once. It also works because the RoP scene this song supports is the beginning of the persecution of The Faithful (a Númenorean religious group)
Next is "Edge of Night" from Return of the King, covered by MALINDA. This one is in English, but it's sweet, somber, and also associated with mass slaughter!
Next is "Into the West" from Return of the King, covered by Peter Hollens. It's very melancholy, but with a flavor of hope. (It's also necessary to note that "the west" is a euphemism for death for the mortal species in Middle Earth)
Next is "Elbereth Gilthoniel" (which I think is just from the books). It's very reverent and elegant. Sort of a national anthem of the elves
The only one I can think of off the top of my head that isn't from Tolkien is "Nikkal" from Heilung. Its lyrics and tune are taken from an ancient persian clay tablet recording a worship song for the moon goddess, Nikkal, and it's the first known instance of written down music!

Question: What is the greatest magic of all? Answer: Friendship, right? [B]: The greatest magic of all is not friendship, it's chronomancy, the ability to control and warp time. If friendship were the greatest magic, look, it's a pet peeve of mine (...)
