neither a puppyboy nor a puppygirl they call me andogynous
today I found out my mother doesn’t know what dandelions are and now I’m wondering what other strange secrets she’s been quietly harboring
Where do you live that you don’t have dandelions?
we have dandelions EVERYWHERE, they are basically our State Weed, it is absolutely impossible that my mom has never interacted with a dandelion before, this requires further investigation
So after extensive interrogation I have an update:
my mom is in fact aware that dandelions exist. she temporarily forgot the name and there was some miscommunication.
the truth is actually weirder
she’s aware dandelions look like this
she is familiar with this flower. she knows the name of this flower. she declines to believe, however, that these are also dandelions
she does not believe these are the same plant. I tried to explain, and she thought I was either misinformed or lying. so I asked her what exactly did she think the yellow ones were called?
she answered, with complete confidence: Daffodils.
gosh I enjoy this website
For comparison, this is a daffodil
See, folks in the southern US will tell you up and down those are buttercups, actually.
i don’t think so? i’m southern and buttercups are what we call these things (much tinier)
Wait I thought those bigger cup ones were Easter Lillies???
This is an Easter Lily. It is an actual lily and therefore deadly to cats.
They’re marigolds and I know a bitch when I see one!
This is a marigold:
….we need to start taking the phrase “go touch grass” more literally. go outside and examine a flower i beg u
“buttercups” is a name applied to MANY flowers. in my part of the south it was this one:
imo there’s correct identifications of dandelions, daffodils, easter lilies and marigolds in this thread, but buttercups are simply impossible to agree on and the only solution is for everyone to post pictures of their local buttercups
*squints* is that a motherfucking EVENING PRIMROSE?!??
Hello I would like to add to the confusion:
That purple fella is a Morning Glory as told by my mothers (texan)
⬆️ morning glory
#amazing work everyone hit the flowers
can we go back to acknowledging that ignoring someone’s chosen pronouns is always misgendering, even when you’re using neutral ones instead
am I the only one noticing that majority of trfs are white?? Like their beliefs are genuinely just repackaged white feminism. They will get offended if you imply that white women often do have the advantage over black men or if you imply that black men don’t get much benefit from being a man and often suffer from being a black man they’ll call you a MRA?? I’ve legit been told to respect black women before by a white TRF because I dared to imply that black men are oppressed for being black men (I’m a black girl btw so LMAO.)
I don’t see many people talking about how a lot of their views fall under white feminism. I just get icky vibes because they only mention black trans women when it benefits them. And will defend the racism of white trans women to the death.
yeah radical feminism in general is rooted in racism. its not exclusive to trfs, its all radical feminists. the ideology paints (white) women as the most oppressed class, and that kind of thinking is really appealing to white women who dont want to recognize their white privilege and their part in perpetrating racism, including against men of color
i think there is generally an issue in the lgbt community (if not just leftism) that people think that anyone with any form of privilege is an evil person and that if they stack enough oppression points then theyll be unable to perpetrate any harm against anyone, and will be a "completely innocent" person. and so people dont want to acknowledge that they might have privilege over another group or else theyll be an evil person. privilege doesn't make you a bad person, and it also doesnt mean that you suffered any less than you did in your life. more people need to be comfortable with acknowledging that they have privilege when applicable and not get all weird about it, lest we get radfem shit where they make an entire form of white "feminism" centering their own feelings about white privilege as white women
just received the best text message I’ve ever had. from my mom

If two people are gay enough they should be able to directly teleport to where the other is.
Summoning someone into a pocket dimension where no time passes should be considered a standard lesbian activity
hey don’t cry. trees grow out of the ground.
the night sky has sparkles on it
the creatures live in the grass.
i wish we were able to talk about women's rights without someone mentioning how much they do or don't want to have sex with them. i don't care if you're a lesbian Stop finding worth in women purely from their perceived attractiveness
"I think women should not be expected to shave for societal respect / to avoid discrimination" "yeah🤤 i love bush" ok well that's not what we're talking about is it.
i hate how many posts about trans women deserving respect always devolve into "I love girldick" or "trans rights but I don't want to date a trans person" because that's entirely unrelated to the topic at hand. you should not respond to feminism with "YESSS I loveeee you because I see you as nothing but a sex object" you people sound like other men I get stuck talking with that end up saying "free the nipple so I can see boobies in public" and thinking they're feminists. why can't we just respect women regardless of your attraction to them or not. why does it need to be brought up in every conversation regarding their rights
So far so fake 💕

i understand (on paper) why companies are anti-piracy but its funny when random individuals are also strongly anti-piracy. like how does it negatively affect your life if someone you know downloads a cracked torrent of sims 4. you dont work for EA. EA isnt gonna pay you for this. you lose nothing. its fine. chill out.
I feel like simply calling JK Rowling a transphobe isn't strong enough anymore. Like. This is not your grandpa calling you by your deadname at a restaurant kind of transphobic. This is her wanting to eradicate all trans people (with an extra special hatred towards trans women specifically). This is her trying just that by personally funding transphobic hate groups with millions to push around laws in the UK. It is not hyperbolic to call her a dangerous, genocidal maniac.
It's not about cancelling a problematic writer. It's about literally trying to save lives by denying her as much money and power as possible.
deriding things as performative is anti third space
im sitting on a patio at my favorite cafe rn and im hand stitching them hem of a dress im working on. and i can see why someone would say im being performative by working on something like this in a public space. but frankly theres no element of that. i just want to work somewhere that isnt my apartment. i want to be in public, i wanna chat with strangers, i wanna see the world. it’s nice to hang out somewhere that isnt my home!
what i mean is when you say people are being performative you discourage them from doing shit they love in public. and thats no way to foster the world we want to see.
It's straight up bullying because the intimidation they feel in being observed by others makes them afraid to do shit like that, so they assume you are making a point about their cowardice and are lashing out so that you know you should be afraid, too.
It's so bizarre to me that this convoluted way of thinking is, in fact, extremely common and dominates so many interactions.
The number of people who think of themselves as put-upon-geeks who will make fun of me for wearing bright colours etc. Literally I have been told that these are 'look at me' colours and that you would only wear bright colours for attention. As though one might not simply enjoy the colour red.
Just 'cause you're afraid to do something doesn't mean that my doing it has anything to do with you. You finding it exceptional and unusual doesn't mean that I do.
This place about to bloww 💕💕💕
the way aragorn runs is so chaotic
@tathrin's tags have been vetted and approved
#that is a man who A: has tripped over his sword before and been laughed at by EVERY ELF IN RIVENDELL and is NOT going to do it again#and B: knows that he has more leg than anyone else in the room and is GOING TO USE IT BY GODS#he is COVERING GROUND with every step#he got that moniker of strider through HARD HONEST WORK (and very very big steps)#aragorn#lotr movies#viggo mortensen
#So basically. He runs like an actual real person would over uneven ground 😂#The Hollywood Run is pretty to watch sure but also takes place on a paved surface usually#There is no way to look dignified whilst running across lumpy bumpy ground down across a hill. Unless one is an actual gazelle#thankyou Mr. Viggo for that Real Human rep (saving @jonairadreaming's excellent tags because everyone who has ever tried running down an incline over uneven, possibly shifting, ground knows you try to get down there as fast as possible with the least amount of time of foot actually touching the ground and constantly being prepared to shift your weight to keep your balance. By the time the stones actually shift from your weight you already want to be two steps away)
He’s so leg
All excellent points.
