My 15 year old daughter and husband were in the 2nd row when Charlie Kirk was assassinated. This week has been something else. Weâre walking through the same waves of shock, fear, and grief that so many others are carrying right now, plus the trauma of what they saw and experienced.
Thatâs why I wanted to share these tools that have helped us. Theyâre not quick fixes, but they help regulate, ground, and keep moving forward.
⢠Naming and allowing our emotions instead of stuffing them down
⢠Nervous system resets (like vagus nerve breathing, cold water, grounding)
⢠Limiting news and social media intake so we donât stay in a constant state of fight-or-flight
⢠Leaning on each other and safe family & friends for support
â ď¸ In the case of trauma or PTSD, itâs so important to reach out for professional help, which will continue to be a regular part of our healing journey. Therapists and trauma specialists can guide you through what feels impossible to carry alone.
If youâre carrying heavy emotions right now, please know youâre not alone. These tools are helping us, and they can help you too. Healing is a process, and compassion for yourself is the first step.
All the love đ¤
