I really like how the scientology speedrunning trend is developing, in this clip we see that the participants are
Not deterred by the closed door
Working as a group
Protecting their identities
Inflicting material costs to the institution via property destruction
Getting away at the end
These ideas were not all here from the beginning. They are genuinely gaining experience that can be applied elsewhere
The church of scientology is on tumblr and they are sending me anon asks telling me that they can't even commit to reporting a post
Allowing an addict to eat might be the most holy thing my tax dollars have ever done.
it’s actually wild how terrified of the general public most usamericans are. like you don’t realize it if you’re someone who mostly walks and takes transit and spends a lot of time in populous public spaces but then you talk to one of the thousands of people that seemingly never set foot in any public space besides a parking garage or a starbucks and you suddenly understand why it’s so easy for fascist rhetoric about the dangerous alien to take root. this country’s median voter pretty much never interacts with strangers who aren’t their coworkers or people they met on dating apps
saw a post on instagram that was literally someone citing statistics saying public transit is one of the safest travel options out there and the comments were literally just “ummmmm op this is so ableist and misogynistic of you :) don’t you know the average public transit user is a dangerous violent criminal who wants to set you on fire :)))”
it must be so terrifying and sad to go through life convinced if you set foot outside your car in public or interact with people outside your nuclear family you’ll instantly be raped and robbed by the Evil Poors no wonder so many of these people are reactionary tar pits
Eternally relevant read is True Crime is Rotting Our Brains by Emma Berquist, a woman who actually experienced a (rare!) stranger-attack while just walking outside, and thinks that people who panic about this shit need to chill the fuck ouuuuuutt and also recognize how much they're using it to launder their bigotries
Edit: I've attempted to add this link at least three times and Tumblr is being stubborn, so let me try posting it on its own:
Emma Berquist
not just true crime but the news is in on it too, especially local and right wing but not exclusively.
The bill faces an uphill battle in the Senate, where a handful of Republicans have expressed concern about implementing the provisions.
I know, I know. It's the weekend. I try not to do politics on the weekend. This is worth jumping on next week, though. The House passed the SAVE Act, which is a big deal for at least three reasons:
1) It makes it harder for anyone with a name change, like married women, formerly married women, or trans people. People with "complicated" (by English-speaking standards) names may be affected too, like Hispanic people with multiple last names that may not be recorded the same way on all their ID's and other documents.
2) To register, you have to provide original versions of all your documents, meaning you probably can't register online or by mail, or through voter registration drives. You'd have to register in person at a government office. Originally that just seemed like an unnecessary hurdle which was harder for people who didn't drive or couldn't get off work during the normal business day. These days, asking people to turn up at a physical location and prove they're a citizen seems so much more sinister. That alone could discourage the people who most fear ICE and their ilk from voting.
3) The act would put the federal government in charge of who can vote and who can't. Which isn't good in light of Trump's threats to "nationalize" elections. Elections are run by the states, and in a midterm election like 2026 there's not even any national races on the ballot. That alone is setting off all sorts of deep-level civics five-alarm warnings for me.
Americans, call your senators. Please. And register to vote today. That may well get a lot harder once the act's passed.
Non-Americans? Spare a thought, prayer, whatever. Things are really scary these days. We're holding on as best we can.
Now I return you to your normally-scheduled blorbos. :-)
some of yall need to go back to like preschool level 'girls can do anything boys can do' feminism bc we are regressing into feminine = frivolous = weak = nurturing and masculine = power = force = competence at the speed of fucking light
Shared here today by Matthew Boroson on Facebook. (ETA: Gaining inspiration from other authors is great. Lifting passages and avoiding giving credit isn’t.)
Tanith Lee was the first woman to win the British Fantasy Award for best novel, for the second book of the Flat Earth series. She died in 2015. You can buy Tales From the Flat Earth here and here .
You can also borrow some of Tanith Lee’s books from the Internet Archive if you are unable to buy them.
Here’s a link to Night’s Master, the first book in the Flat Earth series.
I cannot recommend Lee’s work enough. And it pains me that I’d never even heard of her until last year.

it should be socially acceptable to wear whatever type of clothes you want anywhere and i am not kidding
dress is an indicator of status that poor people, people of color, disabled people, some religious people, and women consistently fail to meet due to social prejudice or barriers to acquiring the appropriate clothing
obviously there are scenarios where specific clothing is required (like PPE at a job site)
but a person coming to an office job in sweatpants doesn't make them less qualified to do their work, it just means they're more comfortable while doing it
"you're required to wear a face shield, an apron/coat, and closed toed shoes in this lab environment for your safety" awesome perfect, i love safety, and i can wear whatever i want under it.
"you're required to wear a suit to present your lab work" i do not become less intelligent wearing non-formal clothing, and this presentation has now become inaccessible to someone who cannot wear appropriate formal dress
I FORGOT FAT PEOPLE IN MY ORIGINAL REBLOG, DONT REBLOG WITHOUT INCLUDING FAT PEOPLE
annoying when shows set in the medieval period have the women with thier hair just long and unstyled and out . girl go put on your wimple girl 🤦♀️
like there are so many fun medieval hair and headgear options, it's so boring just seeing loose beachy waves meant to appeal to 21st century beauty standards
put that hot prince in a gay little hood with an ostrich feather or so help me god
Book! (The mode in hats and headdress - Ruth Turner Wilcox)
Movement nudge, flexi edition.
X
Two things: DONT pulse, only hold. Do multiple shorter holds if you need to but do a static hold, no pulsing. When pulsing, you can inadvertently hurt yourself by over-stretching. Source
Second, please be WARM when you stretch!! Dont stretch cold muscles! You can warm up with dynamic stretching or some light work like walking/jogging, jumping jacks, etc.
as with most things on social media, yall gotta be taking tiktokers with a grain (or several) of salt. Just because someone is flexible or strong doesnt mean they know what they're talking about, so learn from many sources and do some research!
They who see this shall get out of their writing rut.
i like nice people and insane perverts, two categories with a lot more overlap than i was led to believe
