First Degree

The ramblings of a PhD student currently pursuing his doctorate in Pharmaceutical /Medicinal Chemistry (basically it the science of how drugs are made and how they interact with the body). Outside of the academic world I; enjoy cooking, (it's like chemistry, but without the word quantum anywhere <3) , cycling, playing on t' ambulances, guitar and probably other things. Sometimes I forget I’m a medically trained professional, and I feel like if something happened I’d be the one yelling “does anyone know CPR?!!” And then it’d hit me. I literally know how to deal with this shit. I went to school to learn how to deal with situations like this.

Scenario based training

So... I've spent the weekend teaching first aiders some scenario based basics ( a colleague was doing all the boring lecture based stuff) 

My poor patient was in anaphylaxis, turns out people haven't got the grip of pressing the epipen gently but firmly into the thigh.
