Happy Fourth of June!!!
thinking about midford siblings crying and hugging each other bc Eddie cannot actually bear seeing lizzie so upset so he breaks his persona and starts sobbing too like when they were little
I can’t draw so I uh I, uh-
This post is brought to you by someone liking my posts with a coloured-in boyband Edward pfp and me mistaking it for fanart of Murdoc from Gorillaz.
Okay, felt like sharing this quote because it’s genuinely the most Black Butler-esque quote I’ve heard in my entire kuro life. It somehow encapsulates every major theme of being alive, existing, and eventually passing on.
In french:
"Ce que vous êtes, nous l’étions. Ce que nous sommes, vous le serez."
In enlgish:
"What you are now, we once were; what we are now, you shall be."
It stood out to me because I came across it in a video on the Paris catacombs, and it had this haunting beauty to it... the sense that death is simply a fact of life rather than something to be feared.
I knew that there was something familiar about this new guy! Who knew Freddie would be back in such a way!
Okay so when our new Hunter friend showed up, I thought he looked familiar.
it didn't hit me until this morning, when I was fully awake that he looks like Fred Abberline.
But what's the connection here, right. Well I looked back into Freddie's past history with Ciel, and one of the things that's mentioned was that he likes art and recognized Ciel's artwork on the walls of his home.
"Additionally, Abberline harbors a vast appreciation for the arts and is considerably knowledgeable of various paintings. He was impressed by Ciel's collection of Brotherhood Pre-Raphaelite artwork, as it is something he is a fan of.[9] -Chapter 23, page 23"
The brotherhood was a group that modeled themselves after the Nazarene movement. The brother hood was a group of Victorian painters whose works drew in the idea of spirituality and religion and influenced by the works of John Ruskin, who was influenced by his Christian upbringing. The Germ, their magazine, defined their ideals as the following.
"Pre-Raphaelite belief in the importance of nature (a germ is a seed) and of the human imagination, as implied by the phrase "the germ of an idea".
What's more important about this is that the group they modeled themselves on, the Nazarene movement were also highly connected to spirituality.
"The epithet Nazarene was adopted by a group of early 19th-century German Romantic painters who aimed to revive spirituality in art."
And also, "
They hoped to return to art that embodied spiritual values, and sought inspiration in artists of the Late Middle Ages and early Renaissance, rejecting what they saw as the superficial virtuosity of later art.
In Rome, the group lived a semi-monastic existence as a way of re-creating the nature of the medieval artist's workshop. Religious subjects dominated their output, and two major commissions allowed them to attempt a revival of the medieval art of fresco painting. "
A key factor though, the Nazarere group was formed in....
VIENNA
So this connection Links to Modri and his past location.
Their influence affected the Brotherhood in regard to the philosophies of Idealism and artistic Symbolism, along with other connections with how people presented spirituality in their work. They had the idea that goodness could be influenced through their works.
So, what if, this order of Hunters is based on this group, and were not only artist by day but demon hunters of a religious based order at night working with the Grim Reapers, and the "Brass" in order to stop demons. Could it be that Fred might come from this line and our new friend with the bat beard is actually related to him?
I wonder if that's where the connection comes from, that the markings on Mordi are connected to the idea of this Brotherhood.
there's no one to look back on anymore

always fucks me up that alexis midford is technically ciels legal guardian. love him but my GOD is he bad at this
I really do like edward and lizzy's relationship here. lizzy being aware of her brother's overprotectiveness reacting with a sort of exhaustion (... really now) compared to her casually hurting herself to her brother's shock. Lizzy's reckless nature must've put Edward through a lot of stress since they were young... or perhaps because he was so overprotective that lead her to be less cautious about her safety?
I love this little glimpse too! I think they maybe amplified those qualities in each other a bit :,D Doesn't Lizzy almost look like she shocks her brother hen for laughs?? She's hilarious.
Absolutely!! Lizzy has to have arrogance due to her strength (why wouldn't she?) which is why she's so careless at times running around or jumping into fights (because she never lost one before). It's also why she has a hard time listening to people telling her no, because if she's able to do something, why can't she just go do it then?
Being a young girl in the victorian age, her actions are much more restrained compared to her adult brother and titled cousin, so in return she pushes those restraints to their limits by doing whatever she wants whenever she can.
I also agree that she's somewhat self aware she's troubling Edward, and even enjoys it. I truly believe Lizzy is a bit of a prankster at heart and likes to take advantage of her position as the overly doted young lady. You can see this side of her more in the anime with her relationship with Paula (not manga canon but canon to my heart anyway).
