There are approx. 200 species of scyphozoa (true jellyfish)! They’re separated into 4 orders, those being: stauromedusae, coronatae, semaeostomeae, and rhizostomeae.

Hydrozoans are similar, but different. They are closely related and share a lit of similarities.

To help with this: Portuguese man o’wars and by-the-wind-sailors aren’t true jellyfish. Helmet jellies, cannonball jellies, and cauliflower jellies are true jellyfish

ok but you can’t generalise spoons like that, the southeast-Asian spoons are better tasked for both the dishes and the texture/consistency of the soup they are meant for. As someone who likes soups from all over the world I have observed general differences in them.

The first (left) spoon is usually used for soups consisting of noodles, several chunky(-ish) add-ins like meat and veggies and a thin broth. It is eaten by starting with veggies etc and then spooning the broth (it is ofc not separated that clearly but that’s about like that)

The latter (right) spoon is used to eat soups in which there’s no clear separation between broth and add-ins and often cream soups or cereal. It’s task is not to efficiently help you eat broth, but the soup with everything in it. Due to it being flatter, it’s better suited for scooping up the chunky stuff and broth at the same time, although not getting as much broth. But the soup it is made for usually has less broth than the soup the first spoon is used for.

Another thing to consider are the dishes, the first spoon is better suited for deep round bowls, while the latter is better for deepened plates.

Overall: first spoon -> small chunks + broth second spoon -> big chunks + less broth

this ofc only applies to soups and foods souplike in texture, like cereal or joghurt.

Conclusion: both have their pros and cons, I wouldn’t try to eat German potato soup with the Asian spoon or pho with the Western spoon.
