I honestly think Gen-Z and younger simply does not understand how recent widespread smartphone adoption is.

I am not that old, and I didn't have a smartphone until probably late high school. For most of my life, many if not most people were not walking around with a magic internet machine in their pocket that they pulled out and used constantly for everything.

wyll being raised as the sole heir of baldur’s gate/to be a political figure and then also becoming a warlock with the main stat of charisma is so interesting and i hardly see it thoroughly discussed. like his entire life has been dictated by rigid rules and ways he (and others) can operate creatively within them and how to use that to his advantage. he’s charismatic, people rally behind him and believe anything he has to say. he was able to become a widely beloved folk hero despite being backed by the hells, an accomplishment that would take quite a bit of intentional narrative framing in a world as judgey as Faerûn. that’s such an interesting premise for a character and it goes nowhere!!!!! no one does anything with it!!!!!!!! what the fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was in grade school I used to send emails to biologists and zoologists asking them questions to get answers to include in school projects I was working on, and would cry when they did not respond because I thought I was stupid for thinking that some random kid would ever be deserving of a response from someone who does something as smart and cool and important as *checks notes* studies frog fungus.

Now, at 29, I’m lowkey having a panic attack because my academic email is filled with middle schoolers wanting me to answer their questions about pygmy raccoons and I keep putting off answering them because I’m so overwhelmed with all the other raccoon stuff I have to do.
