Captain America: Brave New World Cast Panel at SDCC - July 27, 2024
This made me laugh so loud I scared the cat.
Bringing Chris Evans back to the MCU but having him play JOHNNY STORM from the old Fantastic Four movie is fucking brilliant.
the best fucking joke ever made.
I was actually screaming when he yelled flame on, it just took me so off guard.
and thank god they let that man swear.
Deadpool and Wolverine really saved the MCU in my mind.
Finally some good fucking content.
Someone in the MCU with some fucking bite.
Oh yeah
especially when he just spat out that 30-solid-seconds-long string of insults and cusses. Apparently he memorized that entire line, like people were offering him cue cards and he was like ‘nah I got this’
For the largest health insurer in the US, AI's error rate is like a feature, not a bug.
UnitedHealthcare, the largest health insurance company in the US, is allegedly using a deeply flawed AI algorithm to override doctors' judgments and wrongfully deny critical health coverage to elderly patients. This has resulted in patients being kicked out of rehabilitation programs and care facilities far too early, forcing them to drain their life savings to obtain needed care that should be covered under their government-funded Medicare Advantage Plan.
It's not just flawed, it's flawed in UnitedHealthcare's favor.
That's not a flaw... that's fraud.
I work in healthcare, and let me tell you, NO ONE denies care as much, as often or as blatantly badly as UHC. Not a one. It's known in the industry to be one of the worst insurance carriers around. DO NOT sign up for UHC this or any other open enrollment period. (I work in rehab and the things they deny are basic and hugely important to quality of life)
I'm reblogging this again because I realized that I didn't include something important. If you have a plan with UHC (or any carrier, honestly) and you are denied something that you and your care team believe you need, ask your doctor to ask for a "peer to peer" review. This is a process in which the doctor speaks to another doctor in the company. It cannot be handled by AI and cannot be just denied without review by an actual doctor. Peer to peer!

TOP 10 HOTTEST MOVIE MONSTERS (as voted by my followers)
#10. Darkness portrayed by Tim Curry (4%) ↳ legend (1985) dir. ridley scott
Cinematic masterpiece.
nah since marvel is trending again I’m going to say it again louder for the people in back — canon steve rogers would never have chosen an “idyllic 1950s white pickett fence life” because the only place that man belonged was a picket LINE. the whole point of his character was that his work was never done. there was always going to be another oppressor, another bully, another person who takes advantage of the underprivileged for him to stand up to. from the moment he gained consciousness he, a chronically ill son of a working class mother living below the poverty line, used his voice and his body to protect & fight for what he believed in. I’m not sure there was ever a time pre-super soldier serum where he didn’t have a black eye. he could put the shield down all he wanted but he could never retire from being steve rogers — someone who never once turned a blind eye, who never once wanted a “reward” for his work, who never once abandoned his friends. this isn’t up for debate. this is almost a century of comic book & film/animated precedent. he may have been a man out of time, but in his words “it’s tempting to want to live in the past. it’s familiar, it’s comfortable. but it’s where fossils come from”
remembering all the times i spent money
When I was in the hospital, they gave me a big bracelet that said ALLERGY, but like. I'm allergic to bees. Were they going to prescribe me bees in there.
So there's a medication called hyaluronidase. It's used to make other medications absorb better, because it makes the cell wall more permeable.
One common usage is to make local anesthetic more effective during surgery, for instance. It's used in a number of injected medications.
Bee stings contain an enzyme very similar to this medication, so sometimes, people with bee allergies have an allergic reaction to hyaluronidase.
This is called cross-reactivity, where your body mistakes something for the thing it's actually allergic to, and has an allergic reaction anyway. For instance, sometimes people with latex allergies also are allergic to bananas and other fruits. They don't actually contain latex, but there are some similar proteins.
Apparently, hyraluronidase used in humans is derived from one of four sources: sheep testicles, cow testicles, cow testicles again, and GMO hamster ovaries.
tl;dr: They won't inject you with bees, but they might inject you with purified cow testicle juice, and your body might say 'eh, cow balls are BASICALLY bees' and try to kill you anyway.
The world is full of such beauty and wonder. Thank you for that sentence.
Can't believe we got the opposite of "just this once, everybody lives" in the form of "just this once everybody dies because they're fucking racists"
love that they inverted the trope of 'ai gains sentience and immediately starts killing the humans' by going what if the humans just had rancid vibes. did you ever think about that
