The truth of the matter is that Niki has always been the type to beg.
When there is something he wants very badly, he doesn't ask. He doesn't demand. He doesn't push. Instead he says please, looks at someone under his thick eyelashes, eyes pleading and hopes for the best. And usually it works. Devyn says he has the kind of nice face people can't say no to, because otherwise they feel like they have kicked a cute puppy who is just begging for scraps. Even Iris folds like a house of cards in front of him.
The only person it doesn't work on is Orion.
Or so Niki has always thought.
Now he looks at Orion and can see him waver.
Just for tonight. Just this once.
These kinds of moments are fever dreams – you can feel the way you start burning inside out, the smoldering so hot that you're freezing inside your bone marrow. That is what it always feels like when Orion touches him. That is how he wants Orion to love him.
Orion sees him. Always but most importanly now. That is crucial. Now that they are finally about to cross a line – because Niki can see Orion caving, can see him folding right in front of him, can see his remarkable self-restraint cracking like a vase close to breaking.
And yet, somehow, he still doesn't expect it when Orion kisses him.
It comes like an avalanche – burying him under a thick coat of desperation.
Niki never truly allowed himself to think how Orion would kiss him if there ever was a moment that would turn the world upside down. It always seemed so far away from reality that there was no point to dwell.
Now, though. Now he knows.
Orion's hands have cupped his cheeks, thumbs meeting the highest points of his cheeks, long fingers reaching his ears. His lips are soft, tender, and he is a good kisser, so Niki lets in the flood and floats.
It feels like it's going on forever but must be only a mere moments in truth. When they part, Orion looks at Niki with a soft look in his eyes.
"Just for tonight," he whispers with a gentle smile that reminds Niki of a flower blooming for the first time in the spring.
Orion takes his hand, stroking his knuckles with pad of his thumb.
Leads him to the bedroom and closes the door with a soft click.

Red 07 — What would others consider the most attractive part of your OC?
Sparrow: Hm. I would say in general, his smile; he has a very warm, open smile that just feels genuine. For his various romances, they would each say something different: eyes/laugh (Orion), voice/hands (Seven), and voice/freckles (Griffin)
Rowan: Probably their attitude; they're very charming and easy to be around.
Orange 02 — Does your OC embrace or suppress their emotions?
Sparrow: Embraces/wears on his sleeve at all times. Sparrow feels very deeply and while he tries his best, he's not great at hiding his emotions 95% of the time. He can kind of get away with it with Orion or Griffin, who haven't known him as long, but Seven? Yeah, there's no hiding things from Seven. For the most part, though, Sparrow doesn't mind; he grew up with parents who rarely if ever showed emotion, so he thinks it's great that he feels his own so deeply.
Rowan: Oh, they suppress everything they can. Rowan likes to put on a charming front, to appear easygoing and carefree, and in their eyes, showing 'negative' emotions around others is a no-no. Easier to maintain a careful distance that way, you know?
Yellow 04 — Does your OC have many secrets? Would they ever tell a person these secrets?
Sparrow: Not a lot? He has a few secrets that probably only Seven and his cats know, but they're nothing huge.
Rowan: Not many, but a fair few. They have secrets that even Rebecca, with all of her connections, doesn't know and if they have their way, she never will.
Brown 01 — Is your OC reliable?
Sparrow: Yes!
Rowan: Yes, even if they cut it close sometimes with obligations.
Brown 03 — How protective is your OC?
Sparrow: Very protective, I'd say. Sparrow doesn't really care if others say things about him or hurt him, but if anyone goes after someone he cares about then it is on.
Rowan: Decently so, I'd say, but it really depends on the person and the circumstances. Given that they have a habit of keeping most everyone at a distance, they don't really have too many people they're protective over.
Black 05 — Is your OC comfortable at fancy gatherings?
Sparrow: Not really, no. He's not opposed to fancy gatherings, but he gets too in his own head and worries over making a good impression/not disappointing whoever invited him that by the time he leaves he's exhausted.
Rowan: Very much so! It's the perfect opportunity to turn off their brain and just coast through with their charm and impeccable acting skills. They're very good at pretending to fit right in.

Wakes up from 5 hours of sleep. I think some people who read interactive fiction, or engage with media at all, would do better if they learned to stop self inserting themselves into original characters even when they don’t realize that’s exactly what they’re doing. Not only does it hinder you creatively, your personal feelings get in the way when a character acts like a character with their own agency and story beat. When you start viewing your oc more as a doll separate from you, it becomes easier to play the puppeteer and have sooo much more fun engaging in media. Stop taking fiction so personally bc I guarantee you will have so much more fun
