Three years in the making, this photo. I first saw this snowy owl three years ago, down the road from where I work. The next day, I brought my camera - no owl. Every time I left my camera home - owl. This happened for a few months, and then it migrated to wherever snowy owls go when they’re ready to find a mate. I went to Scotland during that time, and was up close with a snowy owl, but it was at a falconry, and the owl was being rehabilitated. Not the same as capturing it outside of a cage. Two weeks ago, I was driving in to work, and there it was. Same spot, too. Brought my camera the next day - no owl. Waited a few days, due to rain, brought my camera in, and voila; mission accomplished. Now, there are three of them in the area. I’ve captured two out of the three thus far, but it may not be much longer before they’re relocated, as they’ve been hanging out near the airport runway, and even on the tails of private jets. They’re pretty incredible to see up close, and have an impressive wing span. Next goal: capture one flying.
Really digging being able to finally capture photos of the snowy owl.
I haven’t tumbl’d in a super long time; so many pictures taken since the last post.

Thanksgiving morning. 7AM. The power was out, and before I began the task of shoveling 6" of wet, heavy snow from the deck, I set up the tripod to capture some clouds meandering by as the sun rose.
