bro i LOVE indigenous fusion music i love it when indigenous people take traditional practices and language and apply them in new cool ways i love the slow decay and decolonisation of the modern music industry
I WILL !!! I WILL DO THAT
some of my favourite indigenous artists, in no particular order:
Inuit artists:
the jerry cans (esp their album Inuusiq)
beatrice deer
twin flames
Māori artists:
jordyn with a why
Indigenous australian artists:
tilly tjala thomas (i particularly love ngai yurlku nhiina)
kardajala kirridarra (srlsly check out ngajabu (Grandmother's Song))
i've also heard good things abt Baker Boy, but i haven't checked out his stuff yet
Another one for Inuit artists is Piqsiq! Two sisters who’ve been doing traditional throat singing since they were kids. They make some really gorgeous, eerie, atmospheric stuff. Highly recommend watching this video of them performing live a cappella using a looping machine, because they might be the coolest people on the planet actually
(Jo March nearly in tears voice) women,,,,
For anyone into North Asian and Central Asian folk music, there's this incredible Siberian folk-pop band called Otyken! The group is mostly women and they're from multiple indigenous groups in Siberia, with songs being sung in their range of different languages. They're so much fun and their music videos are amazing!
i'll go ahead and recommend The Halluci Nation (formerly known as A Tribe Called Red), an EDM group from First Nations Ontario that do really cool fusions of First Nations music with dubstep, moombahton, and hip hop.
I really really really appreciate people who share videos on posts like these, because almost without a doubt every time I love the music but I’ve never got the spoons to click on links and look through a bunch of music or worse google the artist I always end up too overwhelmed to start and I hate that
Haven't seen Belle Sisoski here yet so here we go: she's the current Artist of Year for BURO impact Awards. She's from Malaysia and knows how to play an insane amount of ethnic instruments and mixes them with her own voice. She does covers and her own songs, mixes ethnic instruments with Techno and shows the process. And she's also a live DJ at 19!
And one of her own:
Oh and of course there's also the HU and Bloodywood for people who like more rock and metal mixed in:
1876 is a Pow Wow punk rock band from Portland, Oregon
we really love Snot Nose Rez Kids, a First Nations hip hop duo
the year is 2035. the new beauty standard is for women to cut their ears off, as ears are a masculine trait which make the face look too big and hearing isnt necessary as it doesnt align with being demure. evil feminists say perhaps this is unnecessary and ears are natural. women are agressively proclaiming they are cutting their ears off due to sensory issues
there's a new social cue coming out. no we're not telling you about it

"we need an economic incentive to create art" no you don't
"copyright and intellectual property laws exist to safeguard this" no they don't
someone sent me anon hate last night over this that was like "hope you enjoy the cruel, empty world you're creating" and i think insisting that art can only exist if intellectual property laws exist is a far dimmer view of the world than anything i could consciously propose
Here is the podcast (audio only), here is the text (the top text is Chinese, scroll down for English)
Your 20s are not about getting your life together they're about learning to escape the self imposed torture labyrinth you've built inside your own head

I'm not a sadist I just feel a deep uncontrollable thrill when fancy well-to-do ladies are reduced to tears. that's literally normal

TME trans people will immediately throw trans women under the bus and they continue to.
Yet when trans women and their allies call this trend out they're attacked.
No wonder trans women don't want to be in the same community as you all
They will throw trans girls under the bus, falling into the sports bs, and deny them healthcare
Truly evil
Can't believe that the people claiming to be progressive are going for the "leave it to the states/parents" option when it comes to the rights of trans children. I mean like, I can believe it, but I wish I couldn't.
everyday heroes
clarification
I think the actual genuine problem with the ideology around "male socialization" is that I think a lot of you are misunderstanding that while a lot of AFAB kids are growing up, if they cannot achieve "correct" presentation of girlhood, they are told to try harder. To stop being masculine, to grow out their hair, to just "be a girl." A lot of people will even be lenient with a level of masculinity in AFABs as long as it is not too "deviant". (this does not apply to every case, but every AFAB queer person I know had similar to this to some extent) By and large AMAB kids who do not align with masculinity raised post like 1995 do not have that experience. If we cannot just "be a boy" in the "right way" we shouldn't be AT ALL. The amount of times before I even knew I was trans that I was told that I just wasn't actually a boy because of something I viewed as arbitrary, the amount of times I was physically assaulted or attacked under the age of 18 for my "wrong" behaviors. And that is not to say the first situation is not also very bad and traumatic. But the reason so many trans men feel that being told "you'll never be a real woman" is backwards affirmation, even when it is misplaced transmisogyny, is because they are FINALLY getting womanhood actively removed from the view of them, even as an attack. This weird idea that TERFs are saying that "no one but you could tell you thought you were a girl" is like so patently not true. I was hit so hard in the chest with a basketball by a middle schooler when I was 4 years old that I had a bruised lung. The first time I was attacked in such a way that I could not fight back and literally almost died, an older boy held me down on the playground and choked me until I was blacking out, and he only stopped because a teacher caught him. Both of these children claimed it was because (paraphrased) "I just don't like that he's not acting like a boy, he just needs to go away". Other people knew something was not aligned with what they were taught in me, they just couldn't articulate. And this wasn't just other kids, my grandmother literally complained to my mother every Christmas and birthday that even buying neutral things I actually liked (coloring books or art supplies or neutral creator legos even) was too difficult to do it anymore, so she stopped. My own grandmother got every other one of her grandkids gifts every birthday and christmas, but me, because I "wasn't right". My mother had to bring gifts and mark them as from her own mother. People can tell these things, you all act as though children don't... talk? Or have personalities? Or IDENTITIES?? As someone who has a behavior sciences degree, I feel like this is an extreme and overwhelming mistreatment of even the idea of children. You can tell a lot about a kid just from the toys they pick up, or look at a little too long in the target when their parent isn't looking. I was paired up with the girls my entire childhood, even before I transitioned. I was in the girl group in every separated P.E. class. People asked me if I was a boy or girl literally every day. Going places with friends I would almost always get a "welcome in ladies". PEOPLE CAN TELL. And a lot of the time if you couldn't before the transition, it means that shit was bullied, beat, and berated out of that person. I am not saying that there is no such thing as socialization, but... most of behavior theory around socialization came from... dog breeding? Some people are nurtured into being male, everyone is nurtured into being a misogynist. But kids know what they are, like, a lot of the time, even if it's not permanent.
