Everything Carol "Pluribus" Sturka does is reasonable if you remember for even one second that her wife died in the joining. More than reasonable, even! If my wife died and a member of the hivemind showed up at my gate while I was digging her grave I would've caved her head in with the shovel before she got a word out. Anything more than that is icing.

One of the horrifying things about Pluribus that I can’t stop thinking about is how the the WHOLE WORLD doesn’t just know Carol is gay now. They also know every time she and Helen had sex,every time they’ve kissed, every time they’ve said I love you, every single thing about Helen’s life even stuff Carol doesn’t know (like how Helen likes cotton candy). I’m sure that when Zosia and Carol slept together Zosia did exactly what Carol likes in bed BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT TOO! And then every single awful thing Carol experienced at conversion camp and anything she told Helen about how she felt about it. Like the only bit of privacy Carol has left is stuff she never ever told anyone. Like she wasn’t just outed on a normal level, every single secret she ever had that ever at any point existed outside of her own head they know now. Everyone knows now.

I've been thinking about the line in pluribus where Carol says she was sent to a conversion camp for being a lesbian. it makes her character so much more tragic, she's been fighting to be herself her whole life, while people who say that they love her are trying to make her the same as everyone else and erase who she is.

Having the hivemind come along and do the exact same thing is harrowing, but now it's everyone on Earth promising that they'll erase you while saying they love you.

I think Carol is quickly becoming one of my favourite queer characters and I hate that people are shitty to her because she's traumatized and understandably a bit messy because of that!

SCOTUS' opinion holds that states can regulate corporal conversion therapy (i.e. electroshock or beatings), but faith-based "talk therapy" is protected under the therapist's first amendment rights. This ruling has not struck down the law, but SCOTUS has directed a lower court to determine if the law passes the "strict scrutiny" test required to infringe on freedom of speech.

I will note that SCOTUS here focuses on the rights of the faith-based therapists to provide conversion therapy, where the Democrats in Colorado who passed the law were concerned with the welfare of the children forced into conversion therapy.

jimmy was a good partner because despite him and kim having a similar age gap to skyler and walter (7-11 years), he NEVER tried to put himself somehow above kim by acting smarter/more capable because he is "older than her and a man". jimmy never understimated kim the way walter did to skyler when she presented her ideas. jimmy and kim were actually able to pull off plans together and have fun with it. they were friends in love. even when jimmy got into the drug buisness, his treatment of kim never changed. meanwhile walters and skylers marriage got abusive so quickly after he started to make meth that you didnt even had many moments of them showing their love. theres a reason why one married couple has a ship name and the other dont.
