Dionysus had ever since he was (twice) born, he had to be hidden and run to safe places to escape from Hera. His family in Thebes dishonoured him and his mother and later Hera drew him mad for him to wander until he snapped out of it.

Then he had a large following and when he grew stronger punished those who wronged him. Then his fame equal to a god, he became an Olympian.

He had his own γολγοθά (Calvary) to win before he finally earn his place in life and i think that's wonderful.
