Coincidence | Amber & Yonghwa
After talking to Ahyeon and getting some introduction into the circus - as well as becoming aware of the fact that wearing clothes was prone to get him more thoughtful answers - Yonghwa had scanned the island a bit more before setting for the cottage that had become his to share with another person. The number was 234 and in order to keep any awkward situations from happening again - they were not awkward for him but apparently they were for the others - he’d gone there by foot, backpack thrown over his shoulder and eyes fixed on the road.
He knew the way solely because he’d already scanned it from above, but walking the distance felt a lot longer than when he’d flown it and so he had to check the cottage numbers every so often to make sure that he had not yet passed the one he was looking for. Nothing was less true of course and he still had quite an end to walk before he’d get there, but he walked it determinedly, one foot in front of the other, making sure that he would seem as normal as he could be amongst people who were all a little strange themselves.
In the end he reached the right cottage and he frowned lightly at it before walking up to it. It seemed to give off a strange vibe, as if there was something wrong. But he tended to have these strange feelings without them ever really holding through. Breathing out a soft sigh, he pulled his backpack a little better over his shoulder and set for the door. Pushing it open without much further ado, he stepped inside and looked around himself. The cottage seemed to be made for two members at most, with a couch with only two seats and a table with only two chairs. The kitchen was small, the door to the bathroom a little up ahead if he could smell right. What he also noticed was someone else’s presence and it instantly brought him to a halt a step or two inside of the house.
"Hello," was all he said, tilting his head slightly to the right and looking at the doors in the room to wait for whoever else was in this house to come out from one of them - whether that be one of the two bedrooms or the bathroom itself.
After the long ride it was on nothing less than a sense of..autopilot that the blonde made her way to the cottage she resided in while on the island. Kicking of her shoes unceremoniously as soon as she hit the door Amber all but stumbled back into the small but cosy place, deciding to first dump her stuff in the room she had claimed the last time around before raiding whatever had survived from the kitchen.
A blissful smile painted her face as the young girl sighted the bed, about a billion times more luxurious and plain comfortable than the cots the cirque usually supplied. Not that she was complaining, oh no..but well… Beds rocked okay?
Her having changed into something more suitable for sleeping (an old t-shirt she wasn’t planning on wearing anytime soon, ‘cause the set she’d actually kept apart for that purpose was way at the bottom of her bag and the freak was just too plain lazy to empty it out completely) had made for quite the change of scenery, various items of clothing already strewn around and Amber couldn’t help bet let out a contented sigh. It felt good to be back. Straightening her back when at once, a grin crept up, now it ws time to get food!
Before leaving Amber had made sure to stuff her luggage with most of the spare food she’d had laying around, even making a quick trip to a local mart to make sure she’d sustain the trip. So now all that was left for her was to store it all according to type and durability, and of course check what had thrived and what was still edible, back in the small fridge the kitchen packed.
About ten minutes later she had nestled herself in her bed together with a half empty bag of nacho cheese flavoured doritos and an old issue of a comic she’d fallen behind with. This was the life. Ah yeah.
The creak of the door got her sitting upright in bed. In truth she’d doubted whether or not he would still be rooming with her, rumours of him leaving having circulated for a while now. But really it wasn’t like she’d met up with him after their initial meeting, not where she could avoid it anyway.
But somehow her tired brain managed to morph the word that resounded through the cottage to have his voice and by then Amber was already standing next to her bed.
Ugh, speaking of people she did not want to see right now. Well, no she hadn’t actually done any of that..but..well..never mind.
“Yes?” She replied, her tone betraying her annoyance mercilessly. “What the hell do you think you’re doing here?”
a little too much :: amber & jiyong
Thing. The question was so vague and Jiyong was so drunk that his thoughts carried out to something entirely different than what she was looking for. It was the circus, the question should have been expected. But he’s been in a different life entirely, and this was so new, that he couldn’t help but old habits take over him. “My number?" Jiyong grinned, fiddling his pockets for a cell phone that didn’t exist on his person.
It was until she sparked up with what she meant that he dropped his hands to his side and gave her a rather disappointed gaze. Right. In the circus, people wanted to know about that stuff. His hands reeked of alcohol. He looked down at his fingers, flexing them for a moment, remembering why it happened. It was because his acidic fingers were acting up. He was too lazy to find water at first, so he just poured his beer over his hands. It wasn’t too effective, which made him get up and find water to pour over his fingers so he could enjoy his drunk stupor without any issues besides the trouble his words would get him into.
"Uhh…" he ‘said’, to at least notify her that he was trying to answer the question. He didn’t remember what the leaders originally named his ability when he explained it to them. It felt like forever ago even though it had to be just a few months. Acid.. maker? No, that was too bland. It was something else— damn it, maybe he could make some words just make sense.
"My body makes acid," he said confidently, even though it didn’t really say much. For all she knew, he could be a human factory that makes shrooms in his intestines and makes little papers with some kind of face on them that injects out of his mouth like a pez-dispenser. Even though his body couldn’t make ecstasy or any other type of drug, he still thought what it actually could do was pretty cool.
Without any other way he momentarily knew how to explain himself, he spit down at the ground. The ground hissed back, as the grass started to burn away. “Yeah. It does that," he said, gesturing to the spit as it did it’s job on the grass. It also seeped through his hands, which was the real danger here, but he didn’t feel the need to mention that. He was too out of it. If he was in the right state of mind, he’d probably punch himself for being vulgar enough to spit on the ground right in front of a lady. His sober self was pretty… uh… lame.
Amber couldn’t help but let out a chuckle. This guy was so far gone it wasn’t even funny anymore. Well, actually..it was still pretty funny. Hence the laughter. Sure he could have been in a worse state, the blonde admitted, easily but for this time of day his inebriation was at least somewhat rare in her memory.
She was about to counter his assumption (she would’ve been less vague if she had wanted his number. Besides, they both lived in the Cirque and had only just met. There were bound to be more opportunities to come, perhaps even one where both parties were sober? Not that she even wanted his number, though the guy seemed to be of the sort to have trouble accepting that. And it wasn't like she didn’t want his number either it was just- ugh, was she really defending herself mentally? So lame.) but looking at the other she could basically pin point the moment he realized what she’d tried to get at.
Yet it took him some more time before an actual reply came into existence, a soft “umm” preceding it. When Jiyong looked down at his hands her own eyes couldn’t help but follow and she silently wondered what they could do. Visions of retractable claws much like Wolverine’s or X-23’s painted her mind and she instinctively took about half a step back. Sure her suspicion was unfunded but one could never be too careful, living in a circus full of supernatural people kind of did teach you that. Still eyeing his hands warily Amber came to the conclusion she didn’t actually know all that much of hand-related powers. All she could come up with was easily led back to one thing: claws.
“Oh.” It wasn’t so much disappointment that coloured her tone, it was more the fact that it didn’t really quite click yet. Make acid? Like how? Did he just…leak it from his fingers? That was so..weird. Cool, but also definitely weird. Not claws, though. That was interesting.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a sharp hissing noise and seconds after Amber was absently proud she didn't jump up in shock. “Dude. That’s..so..awesome!” she’d even clasped her hands together in her childlike delight, immediately untangling them as she desperately tried to at least appear cool. “I mean..uh..nice power dude. How do you-“ she stopped herself awkwardly, hoping she wasn’t on her way to offend him. A random drunk guy who could apparently spit acid wasn’t exactly someone all too high up on her list of people to offend. Not that she had any such list ,that would be ridiculous. Then again she kind of had to finish her question, in fear of the lingering words giving the conversation a twist for the awkward.

I'm sorry.
I'm actually really sorry guys.
I haven't been round at all (okay that's not quite true, I stalk the dash 24/7 but I mean in terms of posting and replying okay) even though I'm on semi and not full hiatus. That's kind of what I wanted to talk to you about, actually. I'm going to message the admins about it as soon as I wake up (no, I'm not sleep typing right now but I have to be in bed in ten minutes and also have to get ready for bed and what if tumblr eats my message and I just wanted to clarify beforehand and I'll tag the admins but also message the I promise as soon as this headache that really feels a whole lot more like someone clecnhing and unclenching their fist on my brain) but I'm gonna be needing to go on full hiatus. Until..well until Bee (Minho-mun) I think, I'm eally too tired to check and again I will specify this when I message the admins I just really wanted to type this out because I feel like I owe you an explanation.
See, I thought I could do it. i thought I was okay and I could handle it. Rookie mistake I know.
Simply put, school's a bitch (now for those of you who know about my issues with profanities and specifically those generally used in a degrading manner towards women and how I don't use them ever because if I do I'll most likely start crying on the spot no I'm not kidding if any of you thuought I was a sane and stable person ha hahaha hahahaha ha- well anyways, those of you will know how serious I actually mean this).
I have like three (?) weeks left and I'm barely coping. I don't really want to go into details but I'm really freaking busy. I have so many projects due..I don't even know what to do anymore. I opened up about my struggles with my schedule to a teacher today and he just looked me in the eye and told me, dead serious, that I should just make some choices then. But how. Everything I do counts for my final exams. Everything. I just-
so yeah
I wrote a reply to Jjong on Key today. I was at my grandma's and had about half an hour left between homework and dinner because I was starting to see stars and really if I had to do one more math problem my calculator would probably have ended up snug between my grandmother's lovely self-grown cucumbers. So yeah, I wrote a reply 600 words which is like a big deal for me nowadays because I can't get anyttyhing written down lately (and trust me I've tried) and I was actually quite proud of it because well it was just so Key (and I've been making Alyssa wait way too long and the Storm and and and) but then I got called down for dinner. Yes the dramatic but (I just wrote butt that's how tired I am dramatic butt what even am i supposed to picture idek) was necessary, because I had written it in a word doc as I do but it just..the omputer froze ust as I went to save thedocument and soon after everything just crashed. Of course I only figured this out after I had gone up to check upon finishing my dinner (it was delicious, btw) and when I did see it I just broke down.
I started crying like a two year old who had stubbed its toe and I just couldn't stop. And I didn't. Both my grandma and my mother now question my sanity which is just great because I'd made such an effort of not crying on front of my family (because really my mood swings are just ridiculous, one momennt I'll exclaim this is the happiest I've felt in weeks..the next I'll be holdng my knees and rocking back and forth in fetal position on th efloor) and I just kept crying the entire ride home. It actually went as far as my mom stopping the car to come and give me a hug. I just couldn't explain why I was crying..I just kept repeating I was tired.
Which I am. I guess that was the real reason of this ooc (which I realize, as I skim it lighlty makes me appear at least a little more stable than I'm feeling right now so that's a good thing). So in retrospect it could've been shorter. But idek. I'll probably delete this in the morning. I just need to vent?
Anyways, basically I calmed down after the hug (in part because just afterwards exo came to me, speaking words of wisdom, singing baby don't cry and I just kind of smiled awkwardly through my tears because they're sUCH DORKS)
and now I'm sitting here, in an alarming state of undress (shh, I'm wearing a shirt. Also undergarments) because i wsa in the middle of changing when I realized I should typpe this. Becuase that's smart. Yes.
I forgot what i was talking about or what I still wanted to say but really I love you guys and you rock and-
I should go sleep now.

Colorblind | Amber & Sulli
Exhausted from the long and stressful day - or more like night - Sulli made her way to her tent, tiredly stumbling over the Cirque grounds as the sun was slowly rising, flooding the terrain with light. She yet had to get used to the schedule this circus was living in, that was for sure. How long had she been up without a proper rest yet? Maybe two days, maybe more, with just two or three hours of sleep in between. She was honestly wondering how she was still alive. But maybe she didn’t even realize that she slowly had turned into a zombie already.
Finally reaching her tent, she quietly stepped inside, not sure whether the others were already asleep or not. She didn’t want to make a lot of noise to interrupt anyone sleeping, just in case.
As she had expected, one of the cots in the tent was already occupied, the person sleeping on it securely covered under a blanket. The girl smiled to herself, stretching a little as she sat down on her cot that had been provided to her previously.
She had met just a few people until now, but they all seemed to be nice - more or less. Letting out a quite amused huff, she lay down and pulled the blanket over her sore body while she tried to get comfortable. Even though everyone and everything was still new, she already felt safe here. And she was sure that with time and patience she would be able to make a lot of friends as well. Everyone was so different, but that was what made it all so interesting.
Sulli slowly closed her eyes, the sound of the leaves that were audible from outside helping her calm down. Maybe she would finally be able to get some proper sleep today. She hoped so at least. And it actually didn’t take long at all until she eventually drifted off to sleep. Never before had she been as happy to get some rest as she was now.
A certain malfunctioning cotton candy machine had not only managed have her stay behind a half hour after she was originally allowed to leave but it also made sure she was covered in the sparkly pink goo before she even had as much sense to try and turn the spinning-out-of-control device off in an attempt to stop it. So, when she did, it really didn’t help much. After finally being able to leave the scene Amber first headed to the showers, determined to clean herself of every last speck of this..this crystalized unicorn vomit even if it was the last thing she’d do!
Now yes, dramatic, but to be fair she was entitled to at least a little drama because the whole fiasco had been a disaster.
That she was reminded of this fact every time she took a step, a sloshing sound indicating she'd been a little too rushed while putting on her shoes did not exactly help her mood. Still, the prospect of a nice warm bed and the promise of a good day's sleep kept a scowl from her face as she quickly neared the clearing, heading for where she knew the bright neon pink tent to be. Slouching slightly the blonde pursed her lips as she saw the vague outline of the tent, the striking colour reduced to a dark nondescript hue due to the hour of the day.
Not wasting time Amber practically threw the tent flap open, only to freeze as she realized there were people sleeping already. A blonde tuft of hair betraying Hyoyeon’s presence, sticking out of a bundle of blankets. Kicking her shoes off trying not to make too much noise she then proceeded to a chair located next to the closet to trade the clothes she was wearing for something more fit for sleeping, grabbing an oversized band t-shirt from the ever growing pile. Tiptoeing she made her way over to her own bed, letting out a relieved sigh as her hand found the tip of the familiar bundle of blankets, really not caring about the fact that she appeared not to have made her bed that morning as she lifted her bedding only to roll in unceremoniously.
“WHAT THE-??” and really so much for being stealthy and not waking anyone up. She immediately brought a hand up to her mouth, but the damage was already done. Or was it? Apart from the girl under her no one seemed to be awake.
Wait. What. Hold up, hold up.. What?!
There was..a...girl..in..her..bed
"What the-" she began again "who the fuck are you?!"

a little too much :: amber & jiyong
Los Angeles. Jiyong was knowledgeable enough to know where that was. It was somewhere along the lines of the west coast, as he knew it wasn’t New York or Texas that she was talking about. He didn’t know all the names of the states - how could he, there were fifty of them! Plus, the geography class of the world was only a haze in his memory, as it was a pretty long time since he’s had to learn about anything besides surviving and not killing anyone with his unstable ability that he really worried about more than he should. At least, he thought so now.
What if he just wore a sign that said ‘caution, leaks acid?’ It wouldn’t be his fault if someone got hurt after that. He did warn them pretty fairly. However there was also the chance that some idiot could mistake the term acid for something else, leading him into a messy situation either way. Maybe he just couldn’t win. It was a good thing he was too out of it to actually care.
He was staring at her again as her eyes were lit up like a firework. He couldn’t help himself to stare at her features, her smile, he was enveloped in a drunk stupor that made him think that he was staring at the most beautiful woman on the planet. He thought of Dara again, and how he thought she was gorgeous as well. Even CL had some good looks. Hyoyeon too. Wow. He normally wasn’t attracted to everything with a female reproductive system… at least he had enough dignity to say he wasn’t. Maybe it was the alcohol, or maybe every woman in the cirque was just really attractive. That wasn’t fair. He couldn’t sleep with everyone.
His thoughts made him laugh, loudly enough to startle him out of his thoughts and back to her. She asked him something.
“Where am I.. from?” he repeated, giving her such an exaggerated expression as if he was so confused as to why she would ever ask such a thing. After a moment of thought, as he completely forgot where he’s from and why he ever ended up where he was, he finally answered.
“Korea,” he said, and then nodded a few times since for some reason once didn’t feel like enough. “Just Korea,” he said, again. He’s never lived anywhere else, no. Through out his life, despite his wants to go other places, he never did. He never had the money - never had much of anything that could get him to go anywhere besides his residence. Well, not until his little underground job. But by that point, he couldn’t leave Korea or else there’d be consequences that he didn’t ever want to experience.
“South Korea,” he specified, although that was a little obvious.
“Oh really? I hadn’t noticed.” And no, she wasn’t above using sarcasm. Who was? Really, how could you be? Sarcasm was the finest form of wit, after all. Or wait no..wasn’t it the lowest? Ugh who even cares. She wasn’t trying to be witty after all, this guy probably wouldn’t be able to appreciate her clever quips in the state he was in anyway. Shut up she was extremely clever okay? Okay.
Obvious comments aside, it did interest her. Being about as foreign as they come Amber found herself drawn to the country she now resided. The Cirque life meant traveling a lot and that certainly was something she enjoyed doing.
“Can I ask you a random question?” It was always good to ask permission first, lest people had an irrational fear of random questions or something like that (or they just didn’t want you prying; also a possible explanation). Exactly what had sparked her curiosity the blonde couldn’t tell but it was an almost normal thing to wonder about. Here, at least.
Eyes squinted a little, head tilted and hands moving up to accompany here Amber inquired anyway, not really bothering to wait for the guy to reply. They hadn’t discussed this had they? And still, almost every conversation she had had with a member she met for the first time since she’d been here had somehow and someway ventured into this territory. “What’s your…uh..thing?”
Sure, she could’ve been more articulate. Actually addressing the core of her inquiry rather than just vaguely painting it off as a thing but the blonde hoped it would suffice. After all, what was a better way to put it? Skill? That sounded to mundane. Power? What were they, superheroes? (actually, on second thought, that would be way awesome. Why couldn’t they just be superheroes? That would rock) Nah..
Raking her mind for better fit words she had her hands hover in the air slightly, waiting for Jiyong’s reply.
“Oh!” it rang mere seconds later. “Ability! Yes, that..that’s what I meant with uh..thing.. If you hadn’t realized yet.”
However fun it always proved to be, talking to drunk people while perfectly sober yourself, Amber did always find them to be rather slow on the uptake. Still, she wasn’t trying to be rude so she hoped she questioned his reasoning abilities subtly at the least. Though with any luck the other would see no offence, as really he did seem to be pretty far gone.

Clean Skirt, New Shoes || Amber & Chunji
Noticing the look, Chanhee inwardly started to panic and had to reassure himself mentally about how fabulous he knew he looked before he could even consider speaking to the guy again. He might randomly change at will while looking like himself, but he had no memories of doing it while transformed, even with his tattoo. That only appeared when he wanted to change back but couldn’t, so he knew he had to still look like that girl he had seen in the mirror, right? Or did normal to him and normal to other people look different? Maybe the fact that someone completely new that hadn’t existed ten minutes ago now existed…could someone be sensitive to sensing those kinds of things? Either way, he had to stay cool and try to act like a chick. Couldn’t be too hard –after all, most guys didn’t really know the inner workings of girls, even if they were gay and best friends with a girl.
Unaware of the tragic irony of the whole situation, he smiled widely at the person in front of him, his lips curling sweetly like he always liked for girls to do. That little tidbit had been on purpose, and he felt rather proud of himself for thinking it up. Little details often were the keys to bringing the life out in characters; he had noticed when he’d pretend to be people that he’d spot around town. Knowing what someone eats on their toast could save him from giving his whole identity up. Reaching up to tuck some loose strands behind a ear, he started to twirl his hair, thinking that that was a normal thing that girls do, right? It was strange; Chunji had gotten close to girls, he had had girl friends and girlfriends alike, but in this moment, he just couldn’t seem to emanate one.
The strange greeting had her blinking, however, as her mind identified the word to the language. “You speak English?” Chanhee looked at the other, quite impressed, “Not many of the people here know it.” And that was true –the only reason he knew it was because he had lacked a childhood and his father had used to be a translator. So lots of books for the baby to read and learn from, it only aiding his ability to correctly mimic a person, sadly. His parents would have disapproved if they had known why he felt so compelled to study language at such a young age. But who cared about them right then? He had a rather interesting person all to himself to decipher and enjoy!
“Tae kwon do?” He wrapped his brain, giggling when he saw Amber attempt some teasing moves to show him. “That’s cool! I wish I knew how to fight…” Chunji pouted as he thought about it, “Muscles or no, knowing how to use them could likely mean a lot more than just intimidation factor. I could push it up sky high for those idiots!” The thought that his words didn’t make sense never registered to him, and therefore when he refocused on the person in front of him, he merely giggled and held out his hand. “I’m Lee Chan…ko. Lee Chanko.” That was a common Japanese thing, right? Girls names ending in “ko”? “And I’m here because what you were doing looked cool~” A hand pressed to her lips as she started to giggle again, “And who are you? I’ve seen you around, but I’ve never learned your name.” He still talked very much like a boy, though he didn’t quite realize it, his focus too on the other’s reaction to him in general.
Okay was she a complete idiot or was this girl flirting with her?
Nah, scratch that..she may be a complete idiot, but this girl was definitely flirting with her.
This was..interesting to say the least. The girl was pretty. Like..really pretty. The mere realization of that fact had the blonde smile involuntarily. Timed nicely with the other girl’s giggle she then brought her hand up to her neck, having it hang there in a rather nervous gesture. The girl somewhat struggled with pronouncing her own name but Amber really hardly noticed.
"Uh.” Wow, great start Amber, very impressive. By now she was rubbing her neck with her hand as she struggled to keep her eyes from travelling to the floor. “Lot of questions, ha.” She remarked, only to literally bite down on her tongue because really, had she always been that big of an idiot? She ended up not slapping herself in the face ,though, which was something at least. “I’m from the States, hence the English yeah..”
“Those idiots?” she repeated, her tone questioning. The girl in front of her didn’t seem to notice she had voiced her thoughts and what she had said had sparked Amber’s curiosity. “Who would that be?” the thought of anyone hurting such a delicate girl cast a shadow on the freak’s face. The world could be a cruel place, she knew that, but she just couldn’t wrap her head around the idea that someone would want to hurt innocent people.
There had been a rather annoying nagging feeling gnawing away at Amber’s insides (figuratively speaking, that was) but what exactly it had meant to tell her only clicked when the pretty girl introduced herself. It wasn’t like it hadn’t happened before so really the blonde didn’t know why her stomach dropped like that (also figuratively, come on). She pursed her lips wonderingly before she let out a sigh, her arm dropping back to her side.
“Yeeeaaaahhhhh” the word was drawn out, stretched and prolonged until she couldn’t possible add another tone anymore and couldn’t do anything but have it fade out. Glistening in her eyes was an emotion that one might have easily mistaken for annoyance but really was better described with words akin to disappointment and even a sliver of regret. Her mind which could not grant her a moment of peace, it never could, raced quietly. She could just lie, sure, as the good Christian she was that was the first thought that claimed her attention, but it was soon dismissed. Even though the girl didn’t seem familiar new members joined the Cirque constantly and if she was a fellow freak there was no way she could hold up the façade for long. And really she didn’t want to. It was a silly notion anyway. But still..
No, Amber reprimanded herself sternly, that’s just asking for trouble.
So, no lying. Good, that was good.
“Name’s Amber.” She stated, a fresh smile on her face. “And I don’t think I’ve seen you before. You with the Circus too or?”
See? That wasn’t that bad now was it? The girl nodded along to her thoughts, not really caring as to how this would look for Chanko. Probably a bit weird. But then again she never claimed not to be. After all, she worked and lived in a traveling freak circus. There was just no way you couldn’t be a bit weird.
