My name is Uni (he/him), I'm an ex-radqueer who was active in the community from 2023 to 2024. I went under the name uni-unrestrained, then unifreak, and ran the sideblogs radflagqueer & radq-polls.
I decided to make this blog to talk about my experience in and out of the community and provide a space for others to do the same.

There is 100% such a thing as a harmful paraphilia. Pedophilia, Zoophilia, Necrophilia, and others all involve non-consenting individuals and are incredibly harmful. “Thought crimes aren’t real” doesn’t mean “if you’re aroused by rape it’s ok and awesome!” It is a phrase meant to comfort people with intrusive thoughts.
I really don’t want to put this person on blast but creating a space for children to talk about their attraction to animals, dead bodies, and younger children is not okay. And I know they’re a kid, but although it is true that kids deserve a safe place to discuss their attraction, publicly on tumblr is NOT a safe space!!! This is practically a buffet for predators and MAPs! Do not harass the original poster.
I genuinely feel bad for this person, that they’ve been convinced by this community that something like this is okay.
First of all, there is no such thing as a "harmful paraphilia". A paraphilia is an uncontrollable attraction, an emotion in someone's brain, which is inherently not harmful. It can become harmful if it develops into a paraphilic disorder (which harms the person who has it) or if it is acted on, at which point it becomes the associated action (child abuse, bestiality, etc).
"Thought crime isn't real" doesn't suddenly stop applying to people you don't like. You cannot designate some thought as bad because they don't hurt the person thinking them.
Regardless of whether you think this blog should exist or not, minors with paraphilias exist and they deserve to have a space to talk about them in a SFW manner. I developed a MADIR paraphilia when I was 16 and blogs like that not only helped me but fully prevented me from developing a paraphilic disorder. I also want to point out that the blog is not for any explicit discussions, which you can see if you actually scroll through it.
To sign off this post, I'm going to show a lot of examples of this account actually helping people through their internal shame.
okay. So first of all, an uncontrollable attraction and thoughts in someone’s brain can still be harmful and I have no idea what leads you to believe it can’t. Attraction to non-consenting individuals is inherently harmful. This type of attraction is not normal and is caused by disorders like OCD and PTSD. If left untreated (aka being convinced your attraction is something that is safe and cool and good and awesome and cute and sexy and completely normal) it can worsen. People with these types of attractions are incredibly susceptible to addictions to content involving their paraphilia (the “taboo” nature of it (which is inherently part of the content because it involves rape) causes extreme dopamine spikes (porn + not allowed = excitement) and is incredibly harmful)
Secondly, the phrase “thought crimes aren’t real” applies to people with intrusive thoughts. It’s not “so people that you don’t like don’t get to use it?” It’s a phrase for people with intrusive thoughts because people can literally believe that their bad thoughts can influence the real world. That’s what the phrase is for. And btw, acting on something in the real world is not a “thought crime” and people need to stop appropriating that term. Writing fanfic is not a “thought crime.” Creating a tumblr blog for minors to express publicly that they are zoophiles is not a “thought crime.” Proudly proclaiming that you are a zoophile is not a “thought crime.”
And these screenshots you’re showing of “helping people” is first of all, mostly not even paras at all but people with OCD. And the reason this seems like it’s helping is because, again, it’s “your thoughts about rape are cool and awesome.” Which can be comforting, because it makes you feel good about your intrusive thoughts. But in reality, people who have intrusive thoughts shouldn’t be learning that they’re cool and awesome, they should be learning that it doesn’t define them or say anything about them as a person. And that they’re involuntarily. These communities are incredibly unsafe for people with intrusive thoughts because these people absolutely love convincing you to do things that make your thoughts more prevalent and project your thoughts into the real world through looking at porn and telling strangers online about it. Things like darkshipping, which can be extremely harmful even to people who don’t have intrusive thoughts, are especially dangerous to people with intrusive thoughts, especially paraphilias, because they encourage you to treat your disorder and/or symptoms of a disorder like a cute innocent kink. And it is BECAUSE these things are so stigmatized that these types of communities and blogs arise, because some people see it as a kink, and paraphiles, which have no where else to go, are forced to see it as a kink in order to be accepted. Paraphiles deserve spaces that aren’t kink spaces, that are separate from actual kinks like objectum, to talk honestly about what they feel, rather than being forced to make their paraphilias worse because the only place they have to go is fetish spaces.
This blog is not a safe place for minors to talk about their paraphilias because it frames paraphilias as a fetish/kink, or something inherently normal. It’s a blog for minors to talk about things that sexually arouse them, publicly, online. If you have a paraphilic disorder, chances are this kind of thing is your only option. Chances are people are actively conditioning you into thinking the symptoms of a disorder that you need and deserve help for are not only normal, but something to be proud of! Ideas like this are why it is so stigmatized. Because people don’t have anywhere else to go. A harmful paraphilia is not just a fetish, but people who constantly insist that it is, and that there’s actually no such thing as a harmful paraphilia, contribute so much to the demedicalization of harmful paraphilias. People don’t want to get the help they need, either because they think they don’t need it or because they don’t want to be seen as a weirdo with a fetish for dead bodies. And it makes people refuse to listen to anyone trying to help them because they see them as bigots who just hate paraphiles. The fetishization of harmful paraphilias is what stigmatizes then the MOST out of anything, and it’s the same from the anti (it’s a weird fetish) and pro (it’s completely harmless) sides but with a different coat of paint. And it needs to stop.
I am absolutely blown away by this. What exactly do you think a paraphilia is? What do you think a paraphilic disorder is? Half of the things you've said are built entirely on your opinion and ignore the reality of how paraphilias are defined and studied.
The DSM-5 defines a paraphilia as an "intense and persistent sexual interest other than sexual interest in genital stimulation or preparatory fondling with phenotypically normal, physiologically mature, consenting human partners". Which just means, to put it shortly, a sexual interest in a non-sexual thing or being that isn't capable of sexual consent.
The DSM-5 (as does the ICD-11) also makes a point to distinguish paraphilias from paraphilic disorders. A paraphilia is only considered a paraphilic disorder, and diagnosed as such, if it causes marked distress to the individual or has been acted on with unconsenting beings.
An attraction cannot be inherently harmful because it is purely a thought. Without influence that pushes it into a paraphilic disorder, it cannot hurt the person who has it. And, as I said before, if it is acted on the action itself is the thing that is harmful.
Paraphilias that are not paraphilic disorders cannot be treated because there is nothing to treat. Again, this is agreed on by the literal DSM-5 and ICD-11. If someone is existing as a MADIR paraphile, is fully okay with their paraphilia and is not at risk of harming another person, there is literally nothing else you can do. You cannot get rid of a paraphilia.
Also - "This type of attraction is not normal and is caused by disorders like OCD and PTSD" - I would love to see a source on this because it is objectively not true. Paraphilias and paraphilic disorders do have an overlap with both of those things, but it is common knowledge that paraphilias are developed through a mix of sources.
Speaking entirely from my own terms I can say that my paraphilias were not caused by some trauma or mental illness. I have several that developed in very early childhood, before I had any exposure to sexual content. Some developed in my late teenage years but, again, were not caused by a trauma or mental illness. I know that is anecdotal evidence but I feel it is worth saying.
I also feel like I can't correctly address the rest of your points because, as mentioned, your ideas on paraphilias and paraphilic disorders just straight up don't match current clinical knowledge and understanding of them.
I was pondering over how I think "pro-para" is a bit of a misnomer. The term just seems way too broad in my opinion. It sounds like it could range from "hey I don't support the idea that every paraphile should just get MAID treatment" to Pediverse Kidtoucher Pride." Like, even the term "paraphile" itself should be phased out due to how vague it is. Like bro, if it's just kinks, just say kinks. Like vore kink or foot kink. Leave -phile to the actually bad shit. I also think we should absolutely not use flags and labels if we are pro-recovery. I get wanting community for people who struggle to get therapy, but we should not be waving pride flags
Maybe make a label that's called something like.. Paracovery or something. "Pro-para" straight up sounds like "I support pedophilia as a concept existing" to most people
I agree that the term is very broad. Lots of terms like that are broad, which is why other labels (such as contact and recovery labels) have been invented to add on to it. Excluding the NO-ACT movement I haven't seen any real efforts to find a replacement, especially since a lot of terms end up being very specific and drawing lines in unrelated discourse (ie blankqueer labels).
Again, paraphilia is also a broad term but it exists for a reason. It's not possible to cleanly divide a line between kink and paraphilia. Not to mention that efforts to do so just stigmatises paraphilias more, putting them in their own "fucked up in the head" category, which is antithetical to widespread recovery.
Partially agree with you on the flags, I don't really get the point of them. IMO they've proven to be more of a hassle than anything else but I'm not gonna tell others to abandon them.
Anyways that last part makes me hesitant to accept your opinion on recovery. MADIR paraphilias exist regardless of whether we them to or not & acting like they shouldn't exist pushes people into developing paraphilic disorders. Getting the vibe that your take on "recovery" is lowkey conversion therapy.

i feel like the vast majority of the internet is extremely fucking hateful, yet they might be a bit more "discreet" about it (though they're often not), for example paramisia being one of the most widely accepted and rewarded forms of ableism in the world, and how a depressing amount of people genuinely believe we and every other non-DID plural don't exist, plus the violent intersexism, exorsexism, and transandrophobia around almost every corner. and that's not even mentioning how racism (more specifically anti-Blackness) has been integrated into almost every part of almost every culture, including in fandom, and how disgustingly people treat cosplayers of color, artists of color, and people of color in general within said fandoms.
so i can see how people can be attracted to the radqueer label and community, after all, it's a community that prides itself on being accepting of everyone! [pt: everyone! /pt] i can definitely see how someone who is a paraphile/endogenic/created system might look for refuge in a community that accepts all, considering how rare it is for people to support those things, which is even more true for paraphiles whose paraphilia is one of the "big three". however, there's a dangerous lack of nuance and criticism within the radqueer community, from what i've seen. i feel like many people within the rqc see criticism from the Antis™ as blatant racism/transphobia/ableism. no, someone is not transphobic for telling you not to appropriate a culture. and i also think that it's Interesting (sarcasm) how transJapanese is one of the most common rcta identities, considering Japanese culture and people are extremely fetishized and infantilized, and how transJapanese beings tend to have very pale and conventionally attractive faceclaims. i also understand that there are disorders that can cause people to genuinely believe that they should be amputees/blind and/or deaf/dead altogether, and beings with these disorders should not be forced to live a life of shame. however, i'd bet that the vast majority of transabled beings do not have these disorders. i'm unsure why beings identify with transabled transids, and i haven't done much research (it's like 4am as im writing this and i kinda made this post on a whim, sorry if it's sloppy). to summarize my point, those in the radqueer community are quick to accuse others of bigotry, but are unable to see any bigotry within themselves and deflect anyone outside of their community pointing out their hypocrisy because of how "accepting" they are.
in my opinion, the best way to describe radqueers are "enablers". even if they don't actively harm anyone themselves, they defend those that do under the guise of "youthlib" (see: saying that consentual contact is okay between a bodily adult and a bodily minor because a child deserves autonomy and don't need to be sheltered from everything. while it is true that children are an oppressed class who are often stripped of choices and seen as property, the way to help combat that is to give them the choice to get away from an abuser and to be able to have the final say for medical treatment and to actually be seen AS PEOPLE [pt: as people /pt], regardless of their age).
TO BE CLEAR: i am pro all origins and endogenic myself, pro para and anti contact, anti harassment, neu *harmless* transids (things like transeyecolor, transmagicalgirl, transsoftspoken, whatever. i don't care, sparkle on or whatever), and pro contradictory labels (he/him lesbians, she/her men or he/him women, pangender agenders, etc.).

honestly, it seems like a lot of the internet is either completely anti our and many others' existence, or pro our existence but also pro others being harmed. sadly, it can be difficult to find people who are within a middle ground.

Having a paraphilic disorder means you either have to risk talking about it and getting institutionalized/investigated/abused or not getting help
We want to stop children getting hurt, animals being raped and dead bodies being profaned but we don't want to help people with paraphilic disorders. We just want to have an excuse to kill and abuse people because it's "the right thing to do" without actually helping anyone in the long run

When radqueers wonder why I can't just "mind my business" and leave their community alone, this is why.
This is a radqueer user promoting child sexual abuse, and the idea that children can consent to sex with adults. This post has almost 300 likes, which is a significant amount for a small community.

Respectfully, that's just called wanting something. You have turned the very normal human experience of wanting something (ie piercings, a certain profession, a hobby, a style) into queer labels and then started applying those labels to strangers.

Yeah so we found out that directly providing the requested body alteration completely relieved patients of all expressed desire for the alteration and they went on to live functional lives. We also found out telling them to stop feeling that way doesn't work. There is no known cure and nobody has absolutely any clue how we could possibly treat this condition
