Magica Riot N64 Fan Demo Update!
I spent the day recoding the character controller again!
There's a couple things that are a little broken but I have more things working now so it's worth it imo.
Biggest thing is movement is tied to the camera again! Jumping and the camera controls work now too!
I had to recode a chunk of character controller again cause I was reading through the documentation which has been updated since I last looked at it and there is actually a new "character body" component that you can use to help handle things like movement and floor checks and a couple other things.
I decided to pivot to using it cause it would open up a few avenues on things I can do in some of the level design for the platforming levels I want to add to the training room and should make some of the movement more consistent as it handles some things I was going to have to code myself.
One of those things is stair stepping! which allows you to move up a staired slope without having to jump on each step.
It also fixes some issues like sticking to walls if enough force is applied and stuff.
You can probably see I get stuck in the floor after a second jump though, I think that's because the platform I have is a box not a plane so I think the stair stepping is getting confused with the 2 faces.
It also handles movement on slopes better and adds a constraint for a max slope angle.
This should overall make movement more consistent and just nicer tbh and takes some of the workload off me.
I also need to fix Claire sliding around a bit but I think that's being caused by how I'm handling input dead zones.
Things still need more work but I should have a much better foundation to build on now!
