the absolute devastating intimacy of a forehead rest. when you are both just so tired from existing in a world that demands you to be a rigid, functional individual, and you finally collapse into each other and just lean your forehead against theirs, or against their shoulder. it’s the physical equivalent of dropping your shields. it’s saying i am entirely heavy right now, and i am trusting you to bear a piece of that weight. and the most beautiful part is that the other person doesn’t even flinch. they just adjust their stance, tuck you a little closer, and absorb the impact. we were designed to divide the burden of being alive.
minecraft steve is the most whitewashed character on the planet and no one talks about it
im not really saying this is done on purpose but theres really a huge discrepancy between these images
@ the people in the notes saying it’s lighting, here he is compared w an in-game in-daylight pic
It’s SUPER obvious when you compare Steve’s model to Alex’s
Steve is brown and them’s the facts!
Minecraft Steve and Jesus are the most whitewashed characters on the planet
I’m in love with the Yuuei Survival Guide fic on ao3. I think i’ll go reread for the 5th time. Anw some scenes I envisioned while reading
thinking about…
how Obi-Wan and Maul are really two self-reflecting destinies that mirror each other in the most opposite but also eerily similar ways.
Spot on OP!!! Maul and Obi-Wan are mirrors to each other; both suffered so much, had their worlds irreparably changed during their prime padawan days, and witnessed Sidious’ rise to power.
But where Obi-Wan was able to let go and find a new purpose, Maul lost himself to his hatred, anger, and grief. His mind was too entrenched in his suffering to see past it and he never found a fulfilling purpose.
I think the saddest thing about Maul is that he is so deep inside the abuse and trauma that Sidious has given him that he has no possible other path for him. He is always doomed to be alone, but what’s beautiful is that he doesn’t die alone, but dies in Kenobi’s arms with Kenobi grieving for him. Even if only for a moment, I think it’s a beautiful full circle end to Maul’s story, which is why I’m not upset at all that he dies like that in rebels. Kenobi gives him what he wanted all along, to be seen, and they share a last moment as two grief burdened victims 💔
That moment is my favorite part in all of Star Wars. Narrative and thematically, it is incredible, but it goes even deeper than that. Maul hurt him so much yet Obi-Wan still showed him incredible mercy. And Maul for one moment finds some semblance of peace. It’s so good 😭
It’s the fact that Maul even says that Luke will avenge THEM. It’s no longer about the revenge towards Kenobi. He died on his side. He died a believer.
EXACTLY!!! That line is so important to me 😭
Obi wan knew where he came from. I think at the same time obi wan would be merciless to other villains, like savage. I think him holding maul gently and reassuring him was after years of soul searching after he failed anakin. He mended an old wound.
Lowkey, I think Obi-Wan was always more compassionate toward Sith apprentices than a lot of other Jedi. Even with Ventress, there are moments where he treats her with a level of understanding and humanity that goes beyond simply seeing her as an enemy. He recognizes that people like Ventress and Maul didn't exactly choose the paths they were put on.
But I also think different versions of Obi-Wan would see them differently. Clone Wars Obi-Wan still largely views the conflict through the lens of Jedi vs. Sith, even if he has moments of empathy. He understands there are shades of grey, but he still believes the Sith are the enemy that need to be stopped.
Ben Kenobi, though, is an entirely different person. By that point he's lived through the fall of the Jedi, the rise of the Empire, and the loss of Anakin. He's spent years reflecting on where everything went wrong. I think that's why his final interaction with Maul feels so different. He no longer sees a Sith Lord standing in front of him: he sees another man who was taken as a child, used by a master, consumed by a cause, and ultimately left with nothing. I think clone wars Obi wan would have cut him down with less compassion. But Ben Kenobi is a different man.
rare moment of reddit being helpful. found it there and
thought its interes- wait
EDIT:
dear god
we are going insane
Devon my absolute diva <3
I just like him a little too much maybe probably most definitely
This frame right here is the funniest thing in the entire show
Because it perfectly encapsulates just how fucking done Maul is with this entire situation.
This is supposed to be his rise to power, his revenge rampage, his glory, his new apprentice.
Instead he got about three days of wrecking havoc before having a righteous cop and an inquisitor on his ass, a bratty teenager who is too much like Anakin for her own good and her jock boyfriend to babysit, a bad knee, and a group of mandos one wrong command away from being completely done with his bullshit.
This is the look of a man who knows he won't catch a fucking break for the rest of his life, and he does not have time to deal with any of it.
Maul Shadow Lord: How It Started
Vs How It’s Going
Episode 8 hit so hard...totally worth it.
Oh, darling, you ain't fooling anyone with those eyes..
nobody is ready to hear me talk about how how the sith and the empire can be interpreted as christian colonialists. how darth maul after leaving the "church" has sith/christian guilt but still enacts their rules. between the prequels and the og trilogy? mama that's the crusades and the inquisition bundled into a sci-fi package.
Maul’s continual BEGGING for an apprentice is the funniest fucking thing. He is on his hands and knees swearing he’ll feed and water and walk it and meanwhile the force is like “no you’re not responsible enough yet”
