I donβt usuallyβor for that case, have ever gone on Tumblr and discussed sexual tension between two very hot characters, but today here I am writing slop.
God. Can we just talk about Dexmatt? No? Just me?
1x01. Heavenβs Half Hour. There is something unusually intimate between Daredevil&Bullseye in that episode. Their interactions are obviously built violence, hatred, revenge, and opposing identities. Yet, some of their confrontations are.. rather questionable.
By taking Foggy away, Dex effectively demonstrates that Matt's identity as Daredevil cannot protect the people he loves. The confrontation following the events at Josie's bar is particularly effective in this regard. Bullseye's attack destroys something deeply personal to Matt Murdock. Foggy is not simply another person caught in a superhero battle; he is Matt's closest friend and one of the central people in his life. Because Dexβs actions result in Foggy's death, the conflict between Matt and Bullseye becomes intensely personal almost immediately.
For the most of the fight, Matt is physically the dominant one. Heβs pursuing Dex because Dex has just destroyed Mattβs life by killing Foggy. But that stops the moment that Matt realises that Foggy is gone, the fight stops being about winning. About fighting itself. Thatβs why the idea of Matt holding onto Dex while crying feels so powerful. It would place the two characters in an almost unnaturally intimate physical arrangement.
And Dexβs reaction?
A shit-eating grin.
Half-beaten,bloodied, & bruised.
He knows why Matt is crying.
He knows what Foggy meant to him.
And instead of responding with remorse, he treats Matt's pain almost like confirmation that he succeeded.
Matt gripping onto Bullseye, almost as if he was trying to stable himself instead, while desperately asking why. Dex, clinging onto life, half-alive Dex. the physical contact becomes almost symbolic. Matt is trying to obtain an answer from the one person who can give him one. Clinging onto Dex, pleading. Sobbing. Not, why did you attack me? Heβs asking why Bullseye took foggy.
they are practically pressed against one another, with Matt clinging to Bullseye while he is visibly exhausted, emotional, and struggling to catch his breath. That close? Fuck yeah.
Bullseye doesn't need to hurt Matt further to establish dominance; he can simply let Matt remain against him, watch him break down, and smile.
Thank you for listening to this terrible slop that I have written, unfortunately, and thank you to both actors who have blessed me with their shirtless scenes- but seriously. I had fun writing this.
