16 mos post op
Just left my monthly WLS meeting. Even though I have been going for 2 years, it is still valuable. It brings me back to why I have done this, and refocuses my goals. It is inspirational, reminds me how far I have come, and where I am still heading. I was 160.8 lbs this morning, so a loss of 90.8 lbs. I have been maintaining +-2 lbs for the past 3 months and that has been really exciting for me. Yes, it would be great if I were losing, but I don't really have it in me right now while I'm managing other life things. So the very best thing I can do - and truly, my life long goal with this procedure - is to maintain and keep the weight off. When I am up to it, I will resume, and am proud of how far I've come. I would like to lose 20 more lbs, and put me at about 140 lbs, and see how that looks on my frame. My mini goals after today's meeting are to track/add more water into my days, and to incorporate more activity. I think both will help me feeling better, and help get me out of my funk. If I lose some lbs in the meantime. All for the better.
Hey everyone! So today I was featured on a segment of The Doctors TV show!
Iβm so blessed to have had this opportunity to spread my body positivity on a large scale and show my skin in front of a LIVE audience and in front of the world!
If you want to check out the whole segment, the URL is http://www.thedoctorstv.com/articles/3773-the-loose-skin-queen-not-afraid-to-flaunt-her-exposed-mid-section
It IS in two separate videos for the whole 8 minute segment, so donβt forget to watch the ending on the video on the bottom of that page!
If you havenβt checked this out yet please take a look. Amanda is such an amazing person and Iβm so happy that sheβs finally getting the surgery she needs to continue to lead a healthy and happy life! Thank you @mandasmuffintop for sharing your story and your wonderful outlook on self love! Hugs!
I agree⦠So happy for you, Amanda!!!
Thank you both so much @unrepentant-thinner and @foergetmianot ππππ so much love to you both!
note to self: your life will not begin when you lose weight and it will not end if you gain weight.Β
Life Truths After Weight Loss Surgery (in no particular order)
β Somedays you are starving and can eat everything in sight. Other days youβll barf up 4oz of chicken β Youβll get loose skin in places you didnβt think you could get loose skin β Even when you arenβt losing weight, your body is still changing so take lots of photos β It is weird how a month in a plateau can still make your clothes looser, so use those as a guide too β You will plateau..sometimes for months β Youβll lose motivation β Vitamins are VERY important β Youβll get drunk really fast, but sober up quickly β It is easy to develop a transfer addiction. For me it was pain meds after knee and dental surgery. Tell your docs up front. β Youβll have a lot of body dysmorphia. Some days youβll feel so hot and other days youβll cry at a photo of your fat calves β It is shocking when you realize there are people in your life who will have never known the fat you β Some people still wonβt like you β Someone will always have a better body β People will think that the post-op diet is the forever diet and shame you for eating more than 2tbsp of yogurt in their presence β People will ask you how much you weigh now β Youβll hear a million stories about someoneβs cousinβs sisterβs neighbor who βgained it all backβ β Youβll be asked a million times if you are βafraid of gaining it all backβ β You are allowed to eat. No food is inherently bad β Youβll do things without thinking, like sitting on a yoga ball not afraid of popping it and when you realize it didnβt pop, youβll cry and the people that never knew you at 405lbs wonβt get it β Even though the medium will fit, you still try on the XL β You still get ads from Lane Bryant and feel guilt about trashing them when at one time that was the only option you had β Youβll be angry the first time a man who previously let a door slam in your face goes out of his way to open it β You donβt understand why people want you to proselytize your success to their overweight friends/relatives. You donβt know them or their story
Can I count coffee towards my fluid intake? lmao
I do lmao
I just had the sleeve done on Tuesday and the nutritionist said it does go towards your fluid intake! π€ I asked her 21 questions lol
π€π€π€
β¦
*shamelessly logs 21 ounces of coffee*
The nutritionist I spoke to relayed that caffeine is dehydrating, so it cannot count towards water intake. Instead, additional water should be consumed to make up for the coffee. Professionals have many different stances on the same questions, lol.
So close to hitting the 150s, but I'm going to ignore that so I don't psych myself out. I'm so good at that.
162.4 lbs. A new low for me, and just before Christmas. It's so nice to be able to afford all of my protein favorites again. Makes a big difference in my game.
Almost 90 lbs down! 12 months later
165.8 lbs at my 12 month check up today!
I've lost 15 BMI points, and my body is feeling great.
It fits
I fit back in to my very favorite jackets. I love a good hoodie, and bought these years ago when I was at a healthy weight. I wore them this weekend, and they make me so confident and happy. Like wearing a trophy for myself. Being able to dress how I choose is a huge boulder out of my way. Health brings freedom.
