drinking water and coffee this morning and I wonder if I should pull out a caramel protein shake. I need to do better today instead of slipping, and so far I’m doing well.
Are you getting your water in today?

Weight loss
Since my #vsg I’ve lost almost 60 in three months.
Yay
I’m a okay, really :)
I can finally tolerate orange juice. I had water with it, but that’s a good sign. I realized how much I DONT miss drinking. Seeing these baboons at Ballys last night made me realize having this surgery was a MUST, and even though there are times where I wish I didn’t do it... I’m so glad I did. I’m having my first stall. I’m at 272 and I have to keep up with the liquids and it should fix itself. I hope by my birthday, I’ll lose another 20 lbs. Keep on swimmin’, no?

03/26/16 206.6 lbs. Or exactly 45 lbs down. I'm still feeling good. Protecting my sanity from emotional vampires. My weight went up to 209 for a week, but has come back down. I am still logging my food, but have been a bit careless about either not having healthy options with me, or eating what has been provided. I'm working on getting back to basics, maybe hit the week 8 diet for a bit and reincorporate scheduled activity. I haven't been carrying my FitBit. Every small change takes a step forward. When I hit 50 lbs total in another 5 lbs, I'm going to cut and color my hair. Still not sure, but I want my outside changes to reflect my inner ones. I'm feeling strong, confident, and I've taken the reins of my life.
What to Expect When You're Expecting...WLS
In the past week, many people have shown so much support and commended my bravery with being so open, and I truly appreciate that. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to know that people care!
I've gotten a lot of questions about the surgery and recovery. One question that I seem to encounter is what exactly does the surgery entail. Well, since I haven't officially decided on the type of surgery I will have, I will give you Niki's Overly Simplified Versions of Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (With Pictures).
VERTICAL SLEEVE GASTRECTOMY (VSG)
Basically, the surgeon cuts a lot of your stomach off laparoscopically. Then, he pulls the stomach hunk out through one of the tiny incisions. Yeah, it hurts. Incision pain is one of the minuses of VSG. This surgery is restrictive. Most of your stomach is gone so you can't really eat that much.
Roux-en-Y (RNY)
Here, your surgeon cuts your stomach apart, staples the parts up so that there a teeny little stomach and a bigger piece of stomach. He then re-routes your intestines so that your teeny little stomach can send stuff through your guts and out your butt. This surgery is malabsorptive and restrictive. Your body can't absorb all the nutrients you need so you have to take vitamins.
That was a very, very, simple and probably terrible explanation of each surgery. But, I hope it helps people that have no idea about any of the possible weight loss surgery procedures (yes, there are more) have a better idea. If you want a more complete idea of the process, click on the pages I've linked to the surgery names. They are more thorough, but the illustrations probably aren't as good as my MS Paint ones.

One Month Out! Measurements And Merriment
Hey all!
As of yesterday I am officially one month out from my surgery. This month over all has been fantastic. I've never been able to lose this incredible amount of weight in such a short time ever. I'm now thinner than I was when I met my boyfriend, and almost as light as when I started college (another 10lbs for that.) I also have been keeping up with my measurements this month as well. My starting point is below.
START:
Hips: 48" Waist: 37" Bust: 44" Thighs: 29" Upper Arms: 14" Dress Size: 14-16 Pants: 16
ONE MONTH OUT: Hips: 46" Waist: 33" Bust: 42" Thighs: 28" Upper Arms: 13" Dress Size: 12 Pants: Unknown (I haven't tried any on.)
The total inches lost for my first month has been 10 inches. And I've lost a total of 2 dress sizes, which is a big win for me. I'm very happy to be on the semi soft foods stage. I feel much more human this way. I figured out I can have salmon, my favorite fish out there! We've been going out again on our days off and my go to entree is anything fish. Of course there's no way I can finish it all, so I take it home with me and eat it for the next couple of meals. I also figured out that my diet plan allows for plain crackers. Sound the alarms and hallelujah! I just had some crackers today with homemade chicken salad and felt like a normal person.
Unfortunately I am in the dreaded week 4/5 stall. It's a small one, in that I've only been floating around the same pound for a week, but I'm hoping I can break it soon. Meanwhile, everyone is telling me how much thinner I look, and that in itself is worth all the bother.
I'll check in again soon with more updates. Have a great weekend!
