Homo vs. Hetero from Life in Hell by Matt Groening, 1983
I hate Jill Stein and the US Green Party, completely irrelevant sect
If you support green and ecosocialist policies in the US, join DSA. You won't get anything out of the Greens
The Green Party has proven time and time again that they are unable to create viable momentum, DSA actually is creating change. I don't care if you dislike DSA, it's the only mass membership democratic org in the country.
If you want to know why I'm so upset with her, here:
Note: Steyer wasn't DSA endorsed, neither was Hakim Jeffries (we just didn't endorse his opponent), Sawant is ineligible for DSA endorsement due to opposing BDS, Butch Ware wasn't actually on the ballot, he was a write in canidate, the issue is Jill Stein and Greens are angry that there's an actual socialist movement that doesn't start and end with them.
I don't even know who the adams she claims DSA supports is
hydrogen embrittlement is so funny
little miss proton says shes a metal too and thinks she should be included in your alloy
I hate to say "some of you don't go outside," but fucking Christ, dude
Ouuhh I see the water it’s right there on the post,, I’m so thirsty ouyghhhhhw just one sip for me ooouuuuuu
Girl, what are you talking about? Are you feeling alright?
Btw the heat *is* why we see water that's not really there, but mirages aren't exactly hallucinations so much as optical illusions:
It's just the changing density of the air refracting light weirdly, so it looks like there's a reflection of the sky on the ground, which our brains often interpret as a pool of water. It can also happen upwards instead of downwards, especially at sea, when the air is much colder near the surface and a warm front appears above it:
Which, btw, is one possible explanation for ghost ship sightings, so that's fun :)
Yeap. That's how the Effetto Fata Morgana gappens
If you drive on a straight road in the summer you can see mirages pretty easily.
Here's Fata Morgana
one of the most maddening things about modernity is the simultaneous feeling of "I can see how things are actively getting worse in many ways" and "we still do and will live lives of unimaginable luxury." And it's easy to say that "oh if we just redistributed the wealth this way then everyone could afford xyz standard of living" but modernity is so new and so peculiar that there's really no way of knowing where the line between "technological advancement" and "spoils of empire" truly lies.

The whole "but what about making sure artists receive credit for their work?" objection to copyright reform is especially irritating because treating moral rights (i.e., the right to attribution, etc.) as descending from or strictly subordinate to commercial exploitation rights is a uniquely American perspective. Not only are these two things separable, they are in fact separated in the vast majority of intellectual property regimes – it's basically just the United States that treats attribution rights as a strict subset of commercial rights. Hell, the US schema is arguably worse in terms of ensuring that artists are properly credited than nearly any conceivable alternative, as treating the right to attribution as a subset of commercial rights means that the right to attribution can be signed away. There are lots of places where it's simply inalienable!
(Of course, this also goes for US copyright abolitionists banging on about how giving up the right to attribution is a necessary sacrifice – like, no, it isn't. These things are separable. Treating them like the one inherently descends from the other is literally just you guys.)

the problem with tumblr spells is all of you lil sluts are casting and not giving it time to charge so you're all casting cantrips and not 9th level death spells. everyone wants to be the one to take them down no one wants to be the one who assists
we're going to try again witha little but minimal casting
IT will happen in August of 2026. like to charge and reblog to cast but cast sparingly
Wait stop. everyone +like now and spread it a little but cast on the same day in August. lets try August 6th or something.

I actually do think it’s better for abusers and abusive characters to realize the harm their past actions caused and seek to do better than be literally or metaphorically executed for their crimes

Reading comprehension test:
1. Does OP mention an obligation on victims to forgive abusers who have learned from their past actions?
2. Does OP mention any work on the part of victims to educate their abusers?
3. Is there any mention of “redemption” or “forgiveness” at all in this post?
Something about how society cares more about punishing the wicked than about making the world a better place, and how many people really struggle to shake that.
queer rep goes thru these cycles where every couple of years lgbt people are like "we get no rep in media and the representation we do get is way too sanitized and it feels so fake and flat. wheres the queer characters that are messy and flawed and REAL??"
then someone gets brave and makes a character who is a real bastard and makes all the wrong choices and is maybe even malicious at times and they make this character explicitly queer. and then fans are like "this is what you think of us?? worst representation ever" and the creator gets absolutely lambasted, ESPECIALLY if theyre queer themselves
then everyone else sees this and either thinks its too risky to include a queer character, or wants to make sure they're only doing the good and nice representation with no flaws or mistakes
then queer people are like "we get no rep in media and the representation we do get is way too sanitized and
and no im not blaming queer people for our own lack of representation, or when "representation" exists only to mock us and shame us. I am however saying: stop attacking queer creators for making queer characters who are nuanced and complicated and even ugly or cruel. theyre not reflecting you, their character isnt you. its just their character
