Raychel and Alivia have a lot in common with  Makana and Alika, our pair of non-releasable Laysan albatross. 👯‍♀️ That's why they decided to get matching tattoos of the magnificent birds they care for!

You may be lucky enough to meet feathered and fabulous Makana when she chooses to hop on her cart and put on a special program at our Kelp Forest exhibit. 

Alika’s more reserved and prefers a quiet life behind the scenes, but rest assured, she’s in the best company with her dedicated care team.

the way teenagers are treated these days is wild. when i was a teenager we were all watching porn, jerking off, and going to horror movies with 3000 gallons of blood. Nowadays they make kids get a permission slip to watch anything darker than Barney the Dinosaur. Insane.

Every year we infantilize teenagers more and more and act surprised when they grow up to be terrified, angry, emotionally stunted adults.

& then for some reason people fixate more on "ugh these teenagers just want to be treated like babies!!! teenagers are to blame for the rise in puritanism!!!!!" than how this is a very obvious example of ageism and the increased control over a socially vulnerable and exploited group

I’d like to remind folks that part of Spanberger’s success is due to the Democratic majorities in Virginia’s state legislature, too. They couldn't pass any bills when the previous governor would just veto them because he was a Republican piece of shit (excuse the redundancy). This is what Democrats can do when voters give them power at both the executive and legislative level! You need to vote for your state representatives and state senators, too!
