Gee, I wonder what in the world happened just prior to 1945 that would have led to this conclusion.
there’s a lot of evidence that the iliad and the odyssey were actually composed by a variety of poets through an oral tradition rather than just by one poet, so what if the homeric texts are actually just a very long game of D&D
homer, the dm: okay achilles, agamemnon has just taken away your war prize, what do you want to do achilles’ player: i roll to have a diplomatic conversation with agamemnon achilles’ player: *rolls a 1* homer: you throw the staff of speaking at agamemnon’s face and storm off to sulk with your boyfriend
Homer, the DM: Your beautiful Patroclus is dead. What do you do? Achilles’ player: I fight everyone. Homer, the DM: You can’t fight everyone. How would you even– Achilles’ player: *rolls a 20* I fight everyone. Homer, the DM: *sighs* Fine. You cut a path through the Trojan army, enemy dead strewn in your wake. Achilles’ player: How many? Homer, the DM: …lots. Enough to clog the friggin’ river with bodies. Achilles’ player: I fight the river. Homer, the DM: You. can. not. fight. the. river. Achilles’ player: *reaches for dice*
Homer, the DM: Okay guys, so the war’s over, you had a bunch of losses but you won in the end. Time to go home, let’s roll to see who gets there firs—
Odysseus’s player: I got a critical failure.
Homer, the DM; “Ok seriously guys they’re not going to fall for the giant horse.”
Odysseus’ player; “I just rolled a nat 20 on my deception check.”
Homer, the DM; “What the fuck.”
you know when its late at night and youre about to walk back into your bedroom after going to pee and theres always that guy on all fours in the dark at the end of the hallway looking at you just as you walk back through the door? whats up with him? whats he about?
Had a dream where I was sitting in a dark office and reality felt really altered and strange and there was just a fishtank illuminating the room and then this fuckin fish looked at me and grinned with human teeth and in this super deep voice said “you’ve been here awhile, better wake up before you forget how to” and I fuckin woke up in a cold sweat
Dude I think you went to hell
@undergroundghosts I hope you don’t mind that I drew your fish.
PHILADELPHIA—Quickly turning what had been an orderly demonstration into a violent melee, a peaceful protest Friday was reportedly interrupted by a swarm of aggressive, black-clad militants. According to bystanders, the protesters had been marching and chanting without incident when they were suddenly set upon by the hostile militants who wielded blunt weapons and concealed their faces. Those who witnessed the event stated that the unprovoked aggressors seemed to have arrived planning to engage in some sort of violence, as evidenced by their protective padding and combative demeanor. Sources also confirmed that several of the militants surrounded an unarmed protester and severely beat him, and that some of the attackers also used slurs and threatening rhetoric while disrupting the peaceful march. At press time, outraged community members were demanding to know why none of the militants had been arrested.

Not sure what’s funnier, thinking Obama was president in 2005 or not realizing that’s a picture of Condoleezza Rice.
Deflecting criticism of the Trump administration by blaming the Obama administration for a disaster that happened under the George W. Bush administration AND the inability to tell two black women apart is like, the entire GOP brand in one shit diamond of a hot take

The Monologue, because I liked it so damn much.
“The thing about repairing, maintaining, and cleaning is: it’s not an adventure. There’s no way to do it so wrong you might die.”
#this episode angered a lot of people#like they took it personal because this whole time they related to rick and thought the series was justifying their worldview#but this monologue ripped them all to shreds
This show is the epitome of “I’m an asshole because I’m better than you” and so many people used it to justify their behavior, and it finally addressed the fact that that’s not the case but instead the reality is “I’m an asshole because I’m immature and can’t take care of myself mentally or emotionally” and of course assholes are gonna cry about it. Because, again, they are immature and can’t handle their emotions.
This monologue is a prime example of “Sometimes if someone’s advice pisses you off it’s because they’re right and you know that applies to you.”
If you are so committed to being perfectly lawful that you cannot see the value of breaking a law to defend yourself or others, you’re not good, you’re obedient.
i crave simple things in life like fresh sourdough bread with a shallow but ornate dipping bowl containing olive oil/balsamic/fresh herbs on a moonlit evening overlooking the sea in some fuckall, Mediterranean location where i’m left alone to eat my bread and let the iodine from the sea air heal my torn up spirit & also six hundred million dollars in unmarked duffle bags stuffed into a swiss bank account box i receive for completing a job of dubious morality
(to the tune of The Final Countdown) it’s a mental breakdown

This is pissing me off, every attempt to find the origin of this quote only brings me back to this image. Is this the origin? Did someone write this shit just for this picture?
