I need everyone in radblr to go buy urself a copy of "Herland"(1915(?)) by Charlotte Perkins Gilman as soon as possible. Yall do not understand. I cannot believe this isn't like, basic radfem/female separatist literature already.

Same author as "The Yellow Wallpaper", three men find a land consisting of only women which is a literal utopia. The men question their own failures in patriarchal society while the women of this land politely exchange information with them about their own lands.

You have no idea how therapeutic this book is. men casually say "oh no man can do that!" and the women respond "oh, no man? can women do it?" and the men go "oh yeah, also no women". There's also such brilliant regular feminist thinking through the book;

"These women... were strikingly deficient in what we call "femininity". this led me very promptly to the conviction that those "feminine charms" we are so fond of are not feminine at all, but mere reflected masculinity- developed to please us because they had to please us, and in no way essential to real fulfillment of their great process."

Insane for 1915 and such a fucking relief and pleasure to read. I hope all the anons who have asked me about radfem books see this bc yall NEED IT

This post was so healing to read. Part of healing is acknowledging the role of misogyny and liberating ourselves from the wound of shame and self-blame that the world imposes on survivors so that the abusers will never face consequences. Because if victims were to respond to the violence, cruelty, and sadism with rage and like force in order to free ourselves and restore our dignity, sense of safety, and empowerment by seeking recourse and real justice the dominant group would not be able to continue extracting benefits from targeting their victims. Under patriarchy all females are victims to male violence, cruelty, and oppression and the level of cognitive dissonance required to understand trauma and understand that misogyny exists without thus declaring males as the source of female trauma is something that women are gaslighted into constantly.

It is more important that you are in the pictures than how you look in them. Having pictures of something joyful and being in them helps you remember good times years ahead. The more time passes, the more nostalgic it gets, and the more you might regret not being in the pictures or having them. At some point, you will hopefully also look at yourself with kinder eyes, and notice the joy in the pictures themself and the joy the memories bring.

You know there is something so insidious about the ways in which people see single people. If you're single, for whatever number of reasons, and you speak about relationships people can get incredibly weird about it.

if you've never had a major Life Changing Move in Together Get a Joint Bank Account relationship people treat you as though you are some manner of lost puppy or over grown twelve year old. If you've had that type of relationship and it ended, for any number of reasons, people insist on knowing all the gritty details so they may judge whether you were the hapless victim of a crazy ex or you were the crazy ex. The concept that things can end amicably or even neutrally is bafflingly foreign to people.

Single people don't typically go around offering unsolicited relationship advice but they are expected to put up with every manner of unhinged advice on How to Get a Man/Girl/Whoever. When we do offer our advice it is met with absolute ire and dismissed as though we are a child that spoke out of turn.

Single people get to run the gambit of being infantilized and villainized for the mere mundanity of just existing without a partner. Countless people will tell you their relationship woes and then become livid when you have the audacity to suggest that maybe they don't have to be doing that.
