Trans guy wears the hijab and says he was inspired by Islam, as we all know the muslim community will be very welcoming
I am becoming increasingly concerned about the prevalence of people using AI to generate false historical or news-related images. Just personally I've seen people generate false images of Che, and I saw an AI generated image of Fidel meeting Kim Il Sung that nobody was recognising as AI even though it was labelled. It was just that realistic
But those are pretty tame. A couple fake images of Che or Fidel doing nothing special won't destroy the world. But there are also AI generated videos of trans women harassing cis people outside bathrooms that are being used as ammunition by the TERF and anti-trans movements. There are AI generated videos of Black people 'abusing' welfare systems, as well as videos 'proving' stereotypes about Muslim people being hostile to European culture
And what happens when the imperialists who fabricated the Uyghur genocide in China find out they can use AI to fake genocides with what looks like unequivocal proof? In the 60s, the CIA created fake documents to 'prove' that the Cuban government was going to terminate parental custody of children. It's not only bigots on the internet who could use AI in nefarious ways, which is not to downplay the terrible effects of that kind of misinformation, but the consequences of this could go so much further
Governments, politicians, the bourgeoisie, all of them have a growing power to completely fabricate reality to an extent we have never seen before. And AI is becoming better and better. The average person cannot identify it if they're just scrolling on social media, or if they don't know what to look out for. I spoke to a coworker lately who talked about how she knowingly engaged with AI content and yet was stunned by how realistic it was, by how she wouldn't have been able to know it was AI if she hadn't been told. And this was someone who sees AI all the time
For example, if this is the bullshit we got before widespread generative AI, can you imagine what we'll get now?
The US and the Western powers already have such an immense ability to manufacture reality through their institutions and propaganda, and it is going to get worse. So much worse
The Trump administration is denying accurate passports to trans, intersex, and nonbinary people – so I’m joining the ACLU to fight back. Urg
Trans people are an important part of the autistic community; our communities and our struggles are intertwined. Now the State Department is trying to deny accurate passports for trans, intersex, and nonbinary people. Take action — submit comments to stop this attack!
i spent two years after coming out working myself back into the closet; dressing as femininely as possible, wearing makeup, acting "femininely". essentially i tried to forcefem myself, and ended up COMPLETELY miserable.
why did i do this even though i knew deep down what i was? because of radfems. because of anti-masculinity and transandrophobia within my own community. i constantly felt like i had to apologise for being a man, and for being attracted to them. i overcompensated so much - "at least i'm a feminine man!" -> "at least i'm not a binary man!" -> "at least i'm not a man!"
even when people weren't being malicious, there was such a lack of masculine representation in queer spaces that i didn't physically know how to accept myself. i was more confused and self-hating than ever in my life.
so to have so many trans women on tumblr tell people like me "just try to be a girl", "being a girl is better", "masculinity is a prison" feels like it's just pushing similar people out there further into their own personal prison.
your masculinity is PERFECT. you do NOT have to apologise for being who you are. you deserve a place in this community.
People do not see masculinity as being as fluid and complex and nuanced as femininity and it’s annoying as hell. Because of patriarchy’s stranglehold on masculinity and radfem theory’s stranglehold on queer spaces, people really think with their whole heart that only femininity is subversive or experimental, or frankly, queer, and that masculinity is only a power grab and nothing more. Embarrassing!
Does anyone know what happened with @/thisiseverydayracism?
I haven't read too depth into anything yet but I wanted to put it out there. From a glance it looks like they are very anti-Islam now? Like did I just miss this when I followed them years ago or?
It looks like they have some criticisms that others may have, but are taking them.. and just bashing all of Islam.
They even posted this:
So if anyone wants to look into it too..
Yiiiikes. Iunno what happened with this, but I stopped following them over the summer because they basically said it's possible to be racist to White people (hint: it's not) 🙃 So yeah... I would stay away from that blog lmao
They're definitely Islamophobic and vehemently against any form of acceptance for the hijab. Aside from that, I just found them pointlessly negative. I'm not a great believer in optimism for the sake of it and I appreciate anger as a force for good but is saying "Trump is going to win in 2020" helpful to anyone? No it is not.
Were they always like that? I think I followed them like 3-4 years ago and I guess somehow missed all this until now.
To provide some background information for anyone who doesn't have the necessary context:
1) You can't be racist towards white people because we sit at the top of the hierarchy that racism creates. Essentially, being racist is about wielding the power of a social hierarchy that says that white people are better than everyone else. That's why it's a systemic form of oppression, because the very structure of our societies features racism baked in as a fundamental feature. It's a one way relationship, if you're on top then you're treated as better than people on the bottom.
Ergo, you can't actually be racist towards a white person because we only benefit from racism, we aren't harmed by it. There's no power for non-white people to tap into that can harm us when it comes to racism.
You can be prejudiced towards white people, and sure, there are times when that prejudice can be a hateful and negative thing, but that's not the same thing as racism. By a long shot.
2) The image itself is inaccurate, as the quote is actually from Andrew Cummins, and it was misattributed to Christopher Hitchens by Bill Maher. That said, Hitchens himself was still quite Islamophobic and I imagine he would have agreed with that idea wholeheartedly, right alongside Cummins and Maher.
And yes, it's total bullshit to claim that Islamophobia isn't real. Islamophobes like Cummins, Maher, and Hitchens (along with many other prominent leaders in the "rational" skeptic atheist community) think of Islam as a religion of terror and portray it as being full of radicalized Muslim terrorists. They highlight cases of individual bad actors or terror groups with Muslim members as evidence that all Muslims everywhere are driven to murder and oppress people, even though there are well over 1 billion Muslims on the planet and the vast majority of them live in peace.
Islamophobes like those in the rational skeptic community are reacting out of fear.
Yes, there are unethical people that are Muslims (just like how there are unethical people in every other social group in humanity), but islamophobes are reacting to an extremely tiny minority of all Muslims and using it to stereotype the entirety of Islamic faith as being violent and oppressive.
You can test this by trying to find an example of rational skeptic making the same claims about modern Christianity. Everything they claim to be true of Islam is true of Christianity, and yet they don’t make those same claims about how violent and oppressive Christianity is. Even though the US faces a much larger danger from oppressive Christian groups that exert political power in the US.
And that's before you even get to talking about the fundamentalist Christian groups that engage in violence to promote their own bigotry, like the KKK, which make a much better analog to Islamic terrorists. If the KKK doesn’t represent all of Christanity then Islamic terrorists don't represent all of Islam.
This means that the views of islamophobes is not internally consistent. The fact that their views are not internally consistent tells you that these are not rational, reasoned beliefs, or they would have eliminated that inconsistency. Ergo, you can see that these beliefs are emotional and are fundamentally a form of bigotry.
There's room to discuss the beneficial and harmful effects of religion, but such discussions should be respectful of the fact that the vast majority of people who follow a religion are not violent, do not set out to oppress people, and are not fundamentally wrong just because they have a religious belief.
Humanity has a need for spiritual expression and that need isn't a foolish or immature one, even if religious groups have caused harm in the past. And acting like a few individual assholes can speak for over a billion people, making them all into villains?
That’s just bigotry dressed up in fancy clothes.
it's always "we owe everything to the trans women who fought for our rights" and never "we owe everything to the lesbians who cared for, stood by, and literally donated their blood to gay men throughout the AIDS crisis." in fact, nowadays everybody loves to fix their mouths and talk shit about lesbians for no reason
i think it’s very funny that many of the “het-partnered are cocksucking whores and can never be radfem” people that i interact with often admit to wearing makeup, shaving and consuming otaku media
like, ok so if ur not 4b ur a slut but ignoring 6b4t is fine, and in fact, you can fail 6b4t proudly, openly and exceptionally, openly disagree with feminist literature, and still have the right to decide who can and can’t be considered a feminist, and u are allowed to call them slurs no less because ur the feministiest feminist ever with ur yaoi, one piece, painted face and hairless body
preface before you comment that i know everyone will fucking ignore anyway:
if you don’t say slurs i’m not fucking talking about you and im not accusing you of saying slurs.
if you don’t consume otaku media and buy from misogynistic industries im not fucking talking about you.
i am not talking about separatists, i am talking about people who call women slurs
I'm sorry, but as someone who watched the "birthing persons" debacle in real time...
As someone who watched multiple people have their "why I left the left" moment over being asked to include transmascs in medical language...
As someone who watched transmascs be told to "shut the fuck up and quit whining" when asking for it to be called literally anything but "women's healthcare"...
As someone who watched terms like "chestfeeding" be treated as an utter laughingstock, even by "allies..."
As someone who had my cautions that abortion bans paired with corrective rape are tools to forcibly detransition trans men, be met with an accusation that I was the transphobic one for "implying pregnant men aren't men anymore..."
I have lost the ability to actually count anyone outside of the community of activists against transphobia to actually care about reproductive injustice as applied to transmascs, AFAB nonbinary people, and others. If I see a cis woman talking about "transandrodorks," I know immediately that she at best has never considered trans men who need reproductive healthcare, and at worst- and more likely- actively relishes the thought of trans men being denied lifesaving care to punish them for "betraying" womanhood.
I dont mean this in a disrespectful way but I dont think those things are comparable to what happened to her. I still think we should have sympathy
not saying they are comparable, and not saying we shouldn’t have sympathy, just being honest as to the reasons i struggle to have sympathy.
The degrees are different, and i’m not saying the things she said about me are on par, but she’s yet to even revoke her accusations against me that i don’t believe Palestinian women are raped. she leaves up every other defamatory anon about me. at least i can say there should be empathy given, and that the allegations are in fact false. for all i know, she stands by every false allegation she made against me. wonder why i struggle to feel pity.
she’s now been victim to false allegations and still has no care in the world for her false allegations against me and their effects. it’ll be a lot easier for me to feel sympathetic when she’s demonstrated literally any degree of regret for the allegations she made against others. and yeah, i take particular issue with the whole “Palestinian women aren’t raped”. she’s falsely accused of rape, she falsely quoted me denying the rape of an entire country of women. i acknowledge the rape accusation so false, she says nothing on her allegation. again, not the same, but yes, i struggle to express maybe the just degree of sympathy.
Misconceptions about Radfems
"Radical feminism is just misandry."
Radical feminism is first and foremost about *women*, not men. Men just happen to be the number one threat to women, and we must discuss that given that we are fighting for our rights. Much of the community is about female positivity and not just the negative side of things. Also, misandry is not real.
"TERFs believe infertile women/women who've had hysterectomies/women who've had mastectomies aren't women."
No. Lots of people like to say that TERFs reduce women to their biology and ability to reproduce, but that claim came out of nowhere. Ask any self-identified TERF and they will tell you they only have one singular condition for being a woman: being female.
"TERFs are right wing."
Absolutely not! They may disagree with most progressives on one singular issue, but that does not make them conservative or right wing. All radfems are progressive, given that fighting for women's rights is an inherently progressive thing. All radfems I've met are economically left-leaning as well.
"Donald Trump/Ben Shapiro/any transphobic person is a TERF."
Please, Don't lump us in with those rightwing cishet sissies!!!!!!
The 'RF' in TERF stands for 'radical feminist'. First off, most radfems do not believe men can be radical feminists in the first place. Even if they could, these men are misogynists and thus ideologically opposed to radfems. Conservative men are opposed to transgender ideology because they find it scandalous, against their religion, contrary to the traditional nuclear family that they idolise, etc. TERFs on the other hand oppose it because (in its mainstream iteration at least) it erases sex-based oppression and villainises women for things like having sexual preferences.
"TERFs are against gender non-conformity/want to uphold gender roles."
This is the total opposite of the truth. Radical feminists believe in gender abolition, with gender non-conformity being part of that ultimate goal. Radical feminists are also against conforming to beauty standards, shaving, wearing makeup, etc., all examples of gender-conformity for women. Part of the reason many radical feminists disagree with gender ideology is because we believe that you do not need to change yourself if your outward expression does not "match" your sex according to society. Many radical feminists are themselves GNC.
"Radical feminism is white feminism."
Another demonstrably false but commonly repeated sentiment. Radical feminists hail from all backgrounds and countries. Let's not ignore how many of the women crucified for being TERFs or "misandrists" have been Black women. Most radical feminists also highly value intersectionality in their activism.
Furthermore, radical feminism inherently opposes western imperialism, incompatible with white supremacy politically. On the contrary, radfem really serves as a safe leftist space of political sanctuary for anti-imperialist people of color.
"All radfems are transphobic."
Radical feminists are not a monolith and have different views on different issues, including different levels of tolerance and acceptance for the transgender community. Let's also not forget how the average TERF is a lot less detrimental to the well-being of trans people than the average transphobic man, who is often violent.
Do you know of any cis or non-transmasc content creators that are explicitly pro-transmasc? Especially ones that are queer themed in general.
dan and phil dont really focus on trans issues (which is fine because theyre cis) but they are explicitly pro transmasc
transgamegal is a black trans woman who i believe is also pro transmasc. shes made a video saying that trans men struggle too, she didnt really use the term "oppression" or anything when she made that video which could be a yellow flag, but shes made great videos about other stuff and i can say with like 90% confidence that shes not a radfem. she makes great and insightful consent surrounding being a black trans woman in the trans community that definitely centers white trans people more than any other group, and especially white trans women
bottleneckloser/saber is pro transmasc, theres some controversy around her that shes "colorblind" (in the racial sense) that i cant really find anything explaining that and im not sure if thats true or if people just dont like her because shes very explicitly pro transmasc, because people definitely attack her for that and the one person ive seen talk about it is anti transmasc. unfortunately when you are pro transmasc or transmasc yourself you will often be accused of bigotry (usually transmisogyny) so im just not sure what the deal is and how accurate the accusations are. however, proceed with caution, and if anybody has any information on that id be happy to hear. i felt the need to include her in this list both because shes aggressively pro transmasc and because honestly i really would like any clarity, especially from black trans men and black trans people who arent anti transmasculine
alluringskull/jory is a content creator that i love. ive never seen her outwardly support trans men, bur ive seen her interact with content creators who are trans men. despite never having seen a trans man on her account, i just like her content, and id be really surprised if she was anti transmasculine, so im including her on this list, but im not as positive on her as i am on the last 3. she focuses her content on transfemininity, which is fine because shes a trans woman and i dont really expect non trans men to talk about transmasculinity (and definitely not speak for us) but of course that does mean that i dont know for sure about her opinions on trans men just because she hasnt said anything. proceed with caution, but id be very surprised if she was anti transmasculine. she also doesnt really talk about this kind of thing at all. freddie_chen/freddie is in the same boat. they are also both poc and post good content surrounding that
there is one more creator thats a trans woman who is dating a trans man i believe or makes jokes about dating trans men. shes never talked openly about the struggles of trans men, however she is a comedian who posts jokes and idt she has any serious posts, so im not too worried about that. someone being openly attracted to trans men doesnt make them safe for trans men, of course, but i wish i could find her account and remember her username because she does post funny jokes
and im going to include some trans men/transmascs who i follow and appreciate in here as well:
sometypeofgay/zy is a trans man who has had top/bottom surgery and passes as a cis man. he also has a beard oil/care company, which makes a lot of sense if you see what he looks like. idr ever seeing him talk about transmasculine struggles but he has talked about the culture surrounding being trans/transsexual
guy.ftm.exe/dionysus is a trans man who has actually talked about antitransmasculinity. he also lives in portland oregon and hosts community events for trans men in the area, you can find that on transguysgatherpdx
writingknighting and joesleftskeleton are transmasculine butch lesbians. they dont really talk about transmasculine issues as a whole but rather transmasc lesbian issues. neither of them identify as trans men but they are transmasculine so im including them in here, and they make good content, especially if you are a butch lesbian/identify as butch in any way
this is a non exhaustive list, i dont know every single lgbt content creator. most of these people are on instagram but i think all of them are on tiktok as well. dan and phil have a podcast but you probably already knew that. im not 100% sure on all of them, but these are people who at the very least i would be surprised if they were anti transmasculine even if they dont post about transmasculine issues
Males became so depraved whenever they started to become super horny over goth and emo girls and something about that is so disgusting and p*dophilic to me like why are you attracted to anorexic traumatized girls who’s only means of coping with said trauma is cutting and hypers*xuality (I know not all goth/alt girls are like this but this is specifically what males want, a broken miserable girl to further abuse and mold into their ideal) and grown like 30 year old males will literally admit their deepest darkest s*x fantasies whenever they see a tween/teenage goth/alt girl and make her super super uncomfortable like the countless times I’ve seen this and absolutely no backlash for this... and them generating amounts of p*rnography that could fuel cubic landfills in mass of child female goth characters from children’s show for kids to readily access... I need these men hung
I’ll must to say it: If we want a feminist society, we need to aim for a misandrist one.
Imagine progress as climbing a steep vertical wall. Feminism is the ledge we’re trying to reach, but every time we get closer, men (and conservative people, in general) throw ropes around us, pulling us back down to the ground.
Now imagine if we climbed higher, beyond the ledge of feminism, up into hembrism. When they inevitably pull on their ropes to drag us down, instead of falling all the way back to the ground, there's a possibility that we land on feminism instead, stronger and more firmly planted than before.
The truth is, we’ll never make real progress because the system favors men. Coddling them doesn’t work, it never has. We need to stop acting like it's such a big issue that men “can’t cry” (which is a lie, by the way). The patriarchal system benefits them, and they’re scared of losing that privilege.
What we need to do is give them something else to fear, something they can feel in their own skin. Make their fears real, basically. Something that makes them say, “I want to go back to the feminism we had before,” but not in the way they romanticize "original feminism" that just fought for women’s voting rights. Something that makes them see how today's feminism was the better option and how they should've agreed.
I know this is an almost impossible scenario. We’d need to conspire. Women would have to band together, pooling intelligence, power, and strategy. We’d need women who are smart and unified. We’d need tools and weapons designed specifically for them. It’s like something out of science fiction. But that’s my dream.
Real change requires violence, or at least half the violence they’ve inflicted on us throughout history.
NOTE : the "men" mentioned here include do not include trans men. They are victims of patriarchal misogyny just like us.
someone on tik tok (@joibeansss) made a video about men being homosocial and it's re-wired my brain. makes so much sense than calling men homoerotic or homosexual for their male centered behaviours and it's demented consequences.
men are absolutely homosocial. they will fuck women specifically to brag to their buddies about. beavis and butthead syndrome.
it also made me think about the commonality of women mothering their husbands/bfs like that tik tok trend of putting sunscreen on your man's face before he runs into the water like he's a literal toddler and how demented that is on several levels.
but almost every heterosexual woman i know does it. it's actually an oddity if they don't baby their over-significant other.
it's a patriarchal society where gender essentialism has men conditioned into believing they're inherent violent and infantilized and women parentified as little girls that ultimately greenlights and naturalizes this behaviour.
doesn't make it any less weird tho. but i fear that may be the point.
In the last few days I've seen multiple trans people / trans allies that claim that male / female socialization isnt a thing and that people who say the opposite are gender essentialist.
Thats insane to me cause like ... its literally the opposite?? Gender essentialsm means specific behaviours are biologically determined by your sex. Socialization says that thats explicitly not the case but that some traits are instead imprinted into many people cause society expected girls / boys to act a certain way so they treat them differently from a young age.
Its weird that so many people seemingly don't see the difference between these two things. Especially if that results in hating on everyone who dares to claim that socialization has an impact on how people feel or act and that it leads to certain patterns (that ofc dont apply to everyone and cam be outgrow / unlearned)
