I don't trust police in the slightest, and even I was appalled and angered by how they were physically brutalized by the very same racist thugs who claim "Blue lives matter." (Gee, it's almost like they never actually respected police and were just saying that to try to shut down Black Lives Matter protestors!)

It should be emphasized that there are no police proven to have been killed by a BLM protest group. There’s only the case of one rogue gunman last year who ambushed some cops on his own and cited police brutality as his motive. That’s with BLM protests going on every month, all over the country for years now. I’ve always defended and will still defend retaliation against police brutality; when cops are gassing people, beating people, shooting bone-breaking rubber bullets into crowds and making indiscriminate arrests just to protect some damn property then I can’t say I give a shit about them, but fucking NOTHING like that happened when Brian Sicknick died at the capitol. He wasn’t in riot gear, he wasn’t standing in a phalanx of armored crowd control to back him up, he wasn’t firing off weapons or threatening anyone, nothing to trigger any sort of defensive mob backlash.

He was also a war vet, so he was TWO kinds of “hero” the MAGA’s pretended to respect up until the moment they didn’t think he was on their team. You can hate cops for the degree of corruption running through law enforcement and be disturbed by the circumstances of this one’s death, those aren’t mutually exclusive.

Side note on this: all those college conservatives saying liberal professors are shutting them down because of their conservative ideas and refusing to hear otherwise? In my experience the “shut down” is just being asked to DEFEND their position for the first time and not accepting shitty half thought out “proofs” that fall apart on their own.

When I was learning how to cook for myself in my tweens, I had at least a five years of fire safety seminars from school drilling this into my head, and I STILL had that instinctive put-the-fire-out-with-water reflex. Didn’t even think. I saw our oily burner catch fire after frying eggs, whipped around towards the sink for water, and my brain immediately screamed NO!!! NO WATER! I mean that fire safety stuff straight up bitchslapped me out of REFLEXIVELY setting my house on fire. I found a pot lid and inched it over the burner before turning off the heat. Even if you think you know this stuff, panic is powerful shit. Make knowledge more powerful.
