What do you think the logistics of chaos space marines are like? Do their quartermasters get planet-sized headaches trying to supply ammo for the 6 different patterns of bolter in this one 10-man squad, all of who seem to be in competition with each other to see which of them has the most fucked up ammo configuration? Do the warpsmiths get pissed every time a loyalist turns traitor and brings yet another mark of power armor with him? How do they maintain ancient warp-tainted power armor whose parts aren’t widely manufactured any more (or is that stuff closer to being a daemon than a suit of armor at this point)? What percentage of their logistics officers swear themselves to Khorne every time they get their hands on a new lascannon pattern that requires a specific power pack design that isn’t compatible with any of their other lascannons? What’s the attrition rate from that alone do you reckon?

I would say there’s plenty of warp fuckery logistics. Similar conceptually to Orks, only instead of colors enforcing ideas on reality through crowd thinking, for Chaos Space Marines it’s much more personal. Being a quartermaster/warpsmith/techmarine for the legions of Chaos means: you homegrow most of your stuff out of standard or scavenged equipment. The warp will mutate metal as well as flesh. Guess what. Your fancy pattern lascannon needs a specific power pack? It will grow itself out of a standard one, fleshy and bloody and beautiful. Crunchy yummy demon engines of all shapes and sizes, baby! I would venture to say that entire manufacturing worlds in the eye of terror are committed to this very process. Out of ammo? Pray for some. After all, these tools of destruction are an extension of the will of the Gods themselves, and the Gods will not allow mere logistical impossibility to stand in their way. Blessed be the Primordial Truth.
