wally - the one who lived the longest out of all of them (about , bruce was probably really hesitant to kill him because he knew that it would affect him and dicks relationship, sent him on a suicide mission

roy - five years into his and jasons marriage, made it look like an OD, jason leaves gotham over this because he knows that bruce did it but he can’t prove it

kon - the very next day after finding out, he starts planning a mission with a 0.01% chance of survival if both of the people try to survive. but he isn’t worried because he knows kon will sacrifice himself for tim and make sure tim doesn’t swap the sacrifice around

steph - the only one who was kept alive, not because bruce wants her to be, but because he cannot fathom the idea of taking someone so dear from cass after what her childhood was like

jon - accidental death (kinda), jon was infected with some kind of evil virus or whatever and started attacking damian and bruce stopped caring about his no kill rule, he wasn’t supposed to kill him, he just got carried away

the JL and YJ and as many other hero teams that can pitch in, fight an alien invasion. there were so many casualties. heroes and civilians. so much death. so many lives lost.

kon can hear everyone he needs to hear, he can clark’s heart, jon’s, lois’, cassie’s, bart’s. hell, he can even hear most of the bat’s heartbeats. most. but one is missing. his bat is missing.

he flies above the city, his heart hammering, his breath shaky, his whole body trembling.

he locks in on where his family is, some of the bats are there too. he flies down fast, he forgets to slow down in time, he crashes into the ground, leaving a small crater in the road.

clark and bruce rush over, helping him onto his feet.

“superboy. where is red robin?” bruce demands, gripping kon by his shoulders.

kon feels like his heart had been ripped out. his breathing picks up.

“i-i thought he was with you?” kon stammered out, looking between the two men. “we-we got split up around the second wave of aliens, he got surrounded but he told me he had it handled and to go ahead and that he would find…you…”

bruce’s grip tightens before he lets go, turning to clark. “superhearing?”

“i can’t pick up on red robin’s heartbeat,” clark whispered, and kon felt like the ground collapsed beneath him.

“it’s my fault. i left him alone,” kon blinked as tears fell down his face.

all of the heroes had been taken to the watchtower, kon was in a catatonic-like state as he walked through the halls. an ache in his heart as he watched others hug their friends and loved ones. he stopped at the window, overlooking the earth.

he watches as jason approaches him, putting a hand on his shoulder. “b wants you.”

kon follows jason absent-mindedly, guided by the hand now on his back. his steps slow to a stop once he spots that familiar hair, that familiar stance. he can suddenly hear it again.

he shouts his name, and he turns, and he smiles. that shitty, stupid, smart-ass smile.

kon runs toward him, picking up speed with each step until he crashes into tim, pulling tim close as he lifts him up and spins. tim wraps his legs around kon and presses his face against kon’s shoulder, pulling back once they still, tim grabs kon’s face and pulls him in for a kiss.

it was the best kiss kon has ever had.

“i thought i lost you…” kon mumbled, burying his face into the crook of tim’s neck. tim runs a hand through kon’s hair, whispering sweet nothings into his ear.

“you’ll never lose me, kon.”

robin knows who superboy is, but because of batman’s rules, superboy doesn’t know who robin is.

that hasn’t stopped kon from memorising robin’s heartbeat. he could pick him out in a crowd because of how well he knows his crushes heartbeat.

tim has to go to a gala in metropolis, something about the wayne’s needing to have a good public relationship with lex.

something happens at the gala, and superboy just happens to be patrolling the area that night. he saves everyone and helps them evacuate, and when he goes back to get the last person, his face drops. that heartbeat. he knows it. it’s the one he’s always listened for.

it’s his robin.

tim was around 16 when kon died, and 17/18 when he came back, now boys typically stop growing around 16-18.

so imagine a severe late bloomer tim, he was about 5’3”-5’5” to kon’s 5’10”-6’1”. when kon comes back and sees tim for the first time, he is so taken aback. why is his robin taller than three apples? where did all this extra muscle come from???

tim who hallucinates kon so frequently and vividly after kon’s death, the hallucinations don’t stop when kon comes back. instead, tim can’t tell when it’s kon or a hallucination.

one night, young justice get black out drunk together. tim, who thinks he’s hallucinating kon again, kisses him when they get a moment alone. tim, who is surprised that he can feel the hallucination this time. tim, who’s too drunk to realise that this is real, what they’re doing together right now, is real.

they end up spending the night together.

tim looks over at kon, memorising his features under the moonlight, reaches out and caresses his cheek.

“weird…you’re normally gone by now…”

kon, who thinks tim is talking about before his death, when they would share a bed and cuddle before kon goes back to his room, takes tim’s hand and presses a kiss to his knuckles.

“i’ll never leave you again. i love you too much.”

tim moved on.

he finally made a life for himself outside of his vigilantism and “drake-wayne” persona. he put himself through med school, graduated top of his class, became a star resident at gotham general, and eventually made his way to head of emergency department.

bernard has been by his side through thick and thin. the good days, the bad days, and the ugly days. through every late night where tim would stay up and refuse to come to their bed because that meant putting bernard before conner himself before something that was infinitely more important, through every late night where he would stare at the photos he had of his true love best friend only friend friend and try not to cry because he didn’t want bernard to ask questions.

tim moved on.

occasionally he got the question of why he switched career paths, and decided to become a doctor instead of staying at WE. he wants to save others because he didn’t have the chance to save him help people directly, is what tim always says.

he felt happy, confused, but also…guilty.

it was an older version of the boy tim fell in love with. his hair longer, his skin scarred, his eyes dull. yet they still held a glimmer of hope. of love. of want. conner was standing there, after so many years, after so many prayers, begging conner to somehow come home.

but tim couldn’t give conner that. not now, not ever. its not fair. fair to bernard, to tim, to conner.

it was all tim could of ever wanted, but he can’t have it.

tim looked away, biting the inside of his cheek and clenching his eyes shut. he doesn’t deserve to cry. not with what he’s about to say.

“you need to leave. i can’t go through this again. i can’t let you back in when there’s still a chance of losing you.”

Headcanon that twice a year, the batfam mircodoses fear toxin to build up resistance so if they get caught for whatever reason, the effects won’t be as bad (no idea if this would actually work lol). It’s not strong enough to make them hallucinate or cause immediate panic attacks but they are jumpy and jittery for the next couple of hours.

It’s somehow become a tradition to play Fnaf VR during the side effects. Bruce was against it at first, thinking they weren’t taking it seriously, but after observing, he realized how it probably helps with trying to keep calm and aware of your surroundings when panicked.

Eventually they get Bruce in while he was building resistance. It’s the first time any of them heard him call someone a whore and it was unsurprisingly chica.

dick comes out to bruce while on patrol, probably mid-beatdown on some random thug, not for any reason in particular, he just realised he hasn’t come out to his dad yet.

when tim brang his first boyfriend (bernard) around, bruce was immediately on edge but came around after a few months of them dating, bruce definitely asked tim “does he know?” when introducing bernard as his boyfriend, because he was so sure he had a thing with conner??

eventually, bernard and tim break up, and after some time, tim introduces kon as his boyfriend. bruce, while not surprised, does not approve.

conner who used to stay at the manor frequently and would occasionally be allowed at small family dinners, immediately had those privileges revoked. no sleepovers, no small family dinners, no TOUCHING. if bruce sees or even THINKS. they are being slightly affectionate, bruce yells at them to “break it up”

damian

didn’t come out. didn’t think he needed to. bruce WAS surprised about this one though, hell he was surprised damian felt romantic love at ALL.

jon: hi mister wayne!!

bruce: please, jon. just bruce is fine.

similar to kon, jon’s sleepover and small dinner privileges were revoked the minute he knew, and it took jon saving damian’s life five times before he was allowed back at the small dinners. after them dating for about two years, jon could sleepover again, but. they weren’t allowed to have the door closed.

steph has always been allowed at the small family dinners and occasionally the big ones, and one random family dinner, cass looks over at bruce

cass: b, steph and i have been dating for a year on thursday, could you book us a flight to the maldives for our anniversary?

everyone goes DEAD. fucking silent. steph is sat there trembling because she knows how bruce reacts to things like this. the boys are waiting for cass’ turn to be judged on her partner choice. but oh no, not this time.

bruce: im so happy for you, cass. how long were you thinking? a week? two?

damian is being respectfully disrespectful because he finds this absurd, jon has only recently been allowed back to small dinners and sleepovers even though before damian told bruce about their relationship, it was EXPECTED of jon to be there.

bruce - he would probably work his way up from a surgeon to becoming medical director or hospital president/ceo, even though hes got a more “corporate” role, he is still very much staff and patient focused than finances and shit

dick - DEFINITELY works in pediatrics, more likely to be a nurse than a doctor because i know he just loves interacting with the patients, he has impeccable bedside manners

jason - ER charge nurse. he runs that shit like the NAVY and nobody can change my mind.

cass - psychiatrist and she is a DAMN good psychiatrist. has probably been offered a chief role but declined because she prefers to see patients

tim - ER doctor, lowk like house where he LOVES the mysteries, he likes finding out what is wrong with the patient

steph - ER nurse, jasons favourite nurse, she’s very good with uplifting peoples moods with humour, very comedic. the sunshine to jasons grumpy.

duke - hospital social worker, VERY compassionate and has developed a pretty good read on people, works closely with cass and recommends a lot of the people he sees to her

damian - head of pediatrics but is still very active with seeing patients, he prefers talking to the kid rather than their parent because the parent is not his patient. he gives NASTY glares to parents when they answer his question instead of letting their child speak
