Need to share this one hit ko i got hit with
cats always step precisely on your most sensitive areas when theyre crawling on you lovingly for cuddles. bladder dick ovaries boobs stomach bruise it doesnt matter. they have homing devices on their paws for the exact area you’re most tender at the moment and they put their full weight into that step. and sometimes they might keep their stance midstride so theyre just standing there forever forcing you to endure the pain. because they are simply too cute to get mad at

white people please just purchase native artwork and jewelry from native people i keep seeing idiot white people be like “waaah i wish i could support native creators but its cultural appropriation” girl why would beaders sell you their earrings then. just dont get a medicine wheel or a thunderbird then like damn it is that easy
http://www.beyondbuckskin.com/p/buy-native.html?m=1
If Native folks are making it to sell to white people with the approval of their tribe, it’s not “appropriation”–its support and appreciation! So yes, buy that native-made dream catcher, but not the mass produced fakes made by white people. Like, you can go to a pow wow and buy native crafts there, too.
here are some places to get native/indigenous goods and merch online if you can’t find something local or if physical access is an obstacle:
https://sweetgrasstradingco.com/ https://nativeharvest.com/ https://byellowtail.com/ https://www.salishstyle.com/ https://trickstercompany.com/ https://hutxh.com/ https://www.thentvs.com/ https://urbannativeera.com/ https://www.oxdxclothing.com/ https://kotahbear.com/ https://www.totemdesignhouse.com/ https://ginewusa.com/ https://eighthgeneration.com/
and the only native-owned comic shop in the world: https://redplanetbooksncomics.com/
The answer to "How did these Ancient People do this????" is basically always
1. A lot of dudes. Just a ton of fucking people from beginning to end of the process.
2. Ancient people weren't stupid, they just figured shit out the same way we do: fuck around until you find out.
3. We're gonna plan this out and it's gonna take ten fucking years, and you will cope.
4. Sticks and string are surprisingly versatile and can be used for a variety of purposes, like moving stuff and making sure things are even and go in the spot you wanted to put them in!
5. I want to make this easier and more efficient to move. If I put this on the round thing and push, it will move. If I put this in water, it will move. If I get some animals and rope and have a whole bunch of them drag it, it will move. All of these things are a better option than one guy trying to pick the whole fucking thing up.
"I'm not calling the people who believe in this conspiracy theory racist" I am. They're racist. Maybe not out of malice, but the fact that they believe in this is in itself racist. These conspiracies are always about brown people. Machu Pichu, the Pyramids, Göbekli Tepe, Easter Island Rapa Nui, it is ALWAYS POC. It's never the Parthenon, it's never the Colliseum, despite the fact that these were built around the same time as some of the other sites these conspiracy chucklefucks like to throw around, it's never something fucking European. It's always "primitive people" with "stone tools" and "no understanding of modern engineering" so "clearly someone must have taught them this or given them the technology because CLEARLY they were just too Primitive and Savage to figure it out themselves." Fuck off with that shit.
Okay I need to correct this before I lose my mind
Wrong and oversimplified. Just because they didn't have modern OSHA didn't mean they did not have any kind of safety regs. Rope harnesses and scaffolding are well-recorded.
Wildly oversimplified. Weekends as we understand them may not have been a thing, but there were definitely shifts and designated days off because people have families and contrary to popular belief a lot of cultures had actual paid labourers and artisans building things, and they tended to have guilds and organisations that REQUIRED time off to be given. Yes, including slaves, because slavery prior to the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade varied depending on culture and practice but slaves were still considered to be actual HUMAN BEINGS and therefore to have HUMAN NEEDS AND LIMITS (seeing slaves as not fully/properly human was an advent of the T-AST and a product of semi-modern racial categorisation, and is an anomaly on a historical scale, not the rule)
Deceptive, also fits under point 1: "a ton of fucking people", especially when frequently large structures involved entire communities, and child involvement was much less likely to be in a Victorian Workhouse way and far more likely to be "you're old enough to be your parent's apprentice so you learn the craft alongside", or like running errands for family on the worksite
Also filed under point 1. Never said everyone was a willing participant, just that were a lot of people involved. Also, surprisingly, not as common as people often think!
"The king said so" is a WHY, not a HOW. The same goes for religious reasons btw, because while that is the motivation for the project, it doesn't actually mean anyhing re: the process and techniques of building things, which is what this post is actually talking about
First off, this is only tangentially related to the original post. Secondly, it's incorrect. History DOES, in fact, record the failed megaprojects, often in bitchy letters from the people responsible for actually building the thing to the person in charge. The difference is that, frequently, the actual structure either gets rebuilt correctly so we don't see the fuckup stage and only know about it from said letters, or it's disassembled to reuse the materials, but some, such as the Bent Pyramid or the visible frame half again as high as the façade on the Pantheon, do actually remain for us to see. This is part of that whole fucking around and finding out I was talking about
This addition has been annoying me for months and recently got reblogged by a popular blog and I needed to say SOMETHING because it was pissing me off.
