reviving this acct to say that iron lung is not a sci-fi movie like so many of you so desperately want it to be. you don’t need to watch the playthrough or the lore update to enjoy it. all the information you need is presented in the movie.

if you left that theatre confused, good. that was the point. it’s a thriller. it’s a story of one guy in the entire iron lung universe and everything he knows and learns. we’re not going to get questions answered if simon doesn’t get them answered. if you take the movie at it’s face value of a guy in a fucked up situation doing everything he can to make it out alive, then it’s a good fucking movie.

i have my own critiques and qualms with it, but i’m not going to sit here and pretend it’s horrible because i wasn’t given an entire powerpoint on every character and their background and the world. it’s just not needed. and if you can’t get past that, i fear you just don’t like horror or thriller movies.

So now we have buddies disrespecting the deaths and using the lives of deceased firefighters whom lost their lives in the line of duty and somehow making it about gay Eddie shout-out to those calling this out in the QT but way to many liked this tweet and some agreed in the QT and despite Peter saying in an interview that he wanted Bobby’s death to be a tribute in memory and honor of other firefighters who passed away in the line of duty. Like these folks are harassing Tim because of Peter saying he didn't want leave yet at the same time disrespecting what Peter wanted this episode and his character death to be about like

i’m gonna get personal which is not something i normally do in online spaces so forgive me for my emotions.

one thing i’ve noticed about this fandom is shit like this is a common reoccurrence. i’ve been good about avoiding it for the most part for my own sanity. but at some point, some of y’all need some actual perspective.

so hi, i’m flavoredsoda, you can call me flavored. my sister was a firemedic for my entire life and retired recently. (different moms and large age gap between us).

i’ve been the kid that my sister has to watch last minute while she’s on shift. every single person in this stupid little weewoo show i can relate to someone i know and have met from my sister’s station in real life.

i’ve watched my sister lose her brothers and sisters. i’ve seen her get injured on the job. i’ve seen nearly deck a dude on her team because they made a nasty ass comment about her and her family.

you can grieve your characters. you can feel all your emotions and be hurt and feel betrayed by the writing of a show. but at the end of the day, it’s a show. you can go back and see bobby nash over and over again and not have to watch the episode with his death. peter krause is still alive and well and you can keep up with his projects on socials.

but to bring up the very real loss and grief that real people experience to prove your point about making a character gay is a step too far. please go touch grass. reconnect with nature. throw your phone in the ocean. anything to make yourself realize this is fucking show not real life.

people like this are the reason this account as been dead for fucking months at a time. that i don’t want to write or engage with this fucking fandom.

i’m rewatching supernatural again (because of course i am) and i’m on season 5. i noticed something in episode 11, “Sam, Interrupted.”

the wraith makes them start to lose their wits and when it really starts to settle in sam is the one to get violent and lash out. he starts punching the air, thinking the orderlies and the patients are calling him names, and when they try to restrain him he fights back.

and dean, the notoriously violent and scarier of the brothers, falls into crippling panic and anxiety. he forgets how to fight, freezes in fear, and lets himself get beat up and basically gives up. i mean sam is taking swings at the air and dean is literally watching the entire thing happen, mumbling in a chair, and rocking back and forth.

and of course, because it’s supernatural, this drastic change in personality is never talked about again. but yea.

i just think it’s interesting that the brother that uses violence (and alcohol but thats for another post) as a coping mechanism basically forgets all of that as soon as his anxieties and problems are heightened and turns into a ball of panic attacks and fear. and brother who makes a big speech at the end of the episode about the wraith being right and him being truly violent and angry, turns into exactly that.

anyways just another small thing that isn’t so small that the supernatural writers completely ignore after mentioning it and acting like the boys’ issues don’t exist. :D

i love that the birthday scene wasn't eddie + bucktommy like it was when buck was with taylor. the scene was eddie and his two friends, because he invited both of them. it wasn't eddie invited buck and buck invited tommy.

even if bucktommy never happened, buck and tommy would still be eddie's friends, and he would have invited both of them because their friendship is not connected to the bucktommy relationship.

and the fact that buck and tommy were hiding because both of them were a surprise for christopher, because chris likes them both individually. i don't even think he knows about them dating, so eddie really did invite both of them separately because he thought chris would like it.

i just want to say i love tommy kinard

i love him with buck and i love him as friends with eddie but also i just. love him. independently of those relationships. i love what he represents. someone who grew up with a shitty dad who then went on to be in a dadt era military and then had to work under fucking gerrard. someone who saw chim and hen defying that leadership and saw that he could also be a better person. who tried to be a better person and by the time he left the 118 for the 217 in bobby begins again, had really mended those fences and become friends with people who he helped hold back at his lowest moments because he didn't know how to NOT just follow rank and follow orders. someone who got to a new firehouse and jumped off the lessons he learned at the 118 and continued to grow and became a better person, embraced his homosexuality and lives life free and out and now has met buck and is continuing to relax (and i think that showed in 8x01, there was something about the presentation and the way he was dressed and made up that felt softer, younger even, than he seemed in season 7) and who clearly seems to be a place buck can currently land because he's done so much work on himself that he isn't guarded and stiff and hard anymore. idk i just love a character who hasn't always been *good* and may not be good every day but is actively working and trying to be good and doesn't spend all of his time thinking about the past but does acknowledge that this isn't always who he's been - and i feel like he does. his conversation with buck about gerrard last season definitely felt like him saying he wasn't good under gerrard, gerrard actively made him worse, was a regressive human being, and that he wishes he'd had more time under bobby. but you know what he got what he needed from bobby and now he's here.

idk i love tommy kinard. sassy, gorgeous, goofy, dorky, flirty, hot pilot tommy kinard and all the jagged pieces and mistakes it took to get him here.
