Welcome!
Hey, I just realized I don't actually have a pinned post, so I'm gonna go ahead and make this one!
I'm Neb, and I'm a multifandom fanfiction author. I tend to write pretty sporadically because I'm really busy with college and work, but when I do, I really enjoy it! But between my random short bursts of actually being able to write, I read a bunch of comics and brainrot over my favorite characters, so I plan to be sharing some of those thoughts here.
If you would like to know a bit about me, what I tend to write, or where you can find me, I've written all of that out here!
Me:
First off, as I already said, I'm Neb! I go by she/her pronouns, and am a young adult in college, so please don't really interact with me if you're a minor.
My current biggest fandoms are DC Comics (particularly the Green Lanterns and Bats, and ofc my favorites, the Young Justice 1998 crew), Voltron: Legendary Defender (that show will never leave my mind), and Legend of Zelda (both the actual games and Linked Universe). I have a BUNCH of others too, but those are the biggest ones for me right now.
I'm also a HUGE space nerd, as in I'm literally working on my astrophysics degree right now and fully plan to get a PhD in astrophysics, so keep in mind that I've always got a bunch of stuff on space floating around. If outer space scares you, then you may want to be careful here.
My Work:
As I mentioned earlier, I tend to write in shorter, more sporadic bursts whenever I do have time (my physics classes take up so much time ;-;), but when I do, it's always posted on my AO3, linked here.
In terms of what I actually write, I don't have any currently updating longfics that I'm working on, but I do have some things in the planning/drafting phases. I also, of course, have some oneshots and such that I'll write and occasionally put out. In the future, when those pieces are finally put up, I'll edit this section with links and descriptions to ongoing projects.
In addition to writing actual fics though, I'm also one of the moderators of @dailyplanetmetropolis! This is a blog that aims to write and publish stories as if they were written by the actual Daily Planet from DC Comics. So me and the other moderator, Kit, read the newest issues every week, write articles about the stuff that would be public news, and put them up. You should REALLY go check it out, it's super fun and I enjoy it a lot.
Recs:
If you, for some reason, want to know what sort of stuff I'm enjoying, then here's a list of things I'd recommend looking into. Most of them are comic runs I really enjoy, which you can read if you'd like to know about some of the characters I talk about!
Green Lantern (1990): This is the definitive Kyle Rayner series, after he becomes a Green Lantern post-Emerald Twilight (which happens in #48-50). I love Kyle. He's amazing.
Batgirl (2000): CASSANDRA CAIN THE WOMAN THAT YOU ARE. This has to be, hands down, one of the best ongoings I've read. Most ongoings have issues with abrupt shifts between runs, things being forgotten about, and so on, but this one is beautiful. It's extremely consistent, very well written, and has such fantastic art. I love reading Cass' story as she learns to be Batgirl, it's so beautiful. The authors clearly put SO MUCH CARE AND LOVE into every bit of her story arc and her growth as a character. Foundational Cass comic.
Young Justice (1998): I love those kids and the insane shit they manage to get into every single issue. What the fuck. Why are we playing baseball. Why is Dante here. Why is Santa dead. Why are we invading a foreign country. It's fantastic, it's beautiful, and I love these kids.
Wonder Woman: Historia. Go read this. Now. Not only is it a fantastic reimagining of the Amazon's backstory, but also a beautiful dissection of the patriarchy and the sort of life women lead in society? I don't have the proper words to describe how emotional and accurate that book is. Go read it.
Death of Superman, Reign of the Supermen, Return of Superman: Such a good story arc with such good writing, and a very realistic reaction to the death of one of the world's greatest heroes? Beautiful. Amazing. Showstopping. I think about that special Newstime issue so often.
Gotham Academy: More people need to know about Maps Mizoguchi my beloved. She's canonically a Robin. She's adorable. She's super energetic and excited and just wants to help people and solve mysteries. She's amazing. Go read about her and her silly, insane, fun school life, please.
Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope you'll stick around! Be sure to check out some of my posts and my rants on characters or comics.
