Lycanthropy (5e Variant Rules)
Although there is an option in the Monster Manual for players to become werebeast, consider these options to make the curse and blessing of lycanthropy a more drawn out affair. Characters who gain this ability become more powerful, but you can force them to pay the price for that power.
How to Become Cursed
There are mutliple ways for a character to become infected with the blood of the beast. How one gains the curse might affect how they can prevent or even remove it. Bite. If a creature is reduced below half their maximum hit points by a lycanthrope, they must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, becoming infected on a failed save. The creature makes another saving throw at the end of the next two long rests, advancing the infection each time. If a creature succeeds on any of the saving throws or is immune to disease, the curse doesn’t take hold. Curse. Certain hags are able to damn souls to the wild hunt. A hag can target a creature and force them to make a DC 10 Charisma saving throw. On a failed save the creature is cursed as a werebeast of the hag’s choosing for 1d6 days. The creature’s alignment shifts to that of the werebeast’s in the Monster Manual. Deal With The Devil. A lesser fiend can provide a creature with the curse of lycanthropy for a price. Look at the Monster Manual, Tome of Foes and Descent into Avernus for more information about fiend contracts.
Lycanthrope Traits
Your lycanthrope characters get the following traits that all lycanthropes share.
Alignment. Your alignment shifts away from any neutrality and order. Your alignment changes to chaotic and either good or evil (your choice). Enhance Ability. Your Constitution, Dexterity and Strength scores increase to that of your hybrid form if yours aren’t higher already. Keen Senses. You have advantage on Perception checks. Shapechanger. You can transform into an animal and hybrid appropriate for your lycanthrope curse. You gain the lycanthrope’s speeds in nonhumanoid form, damage immunities, traits, and actions that don’t involve equipment. You are proficient with the lycanthrope’s natural attacks, such as its bite or claws, which deal damage as shown in the lycanthrope’s statistics. You can’t speak while in animal form. Bloodlust. During a full moon, you must be in either your hybrid or animal form. You must kill a creature and consume its flesh during this time or else your Constitution score is reduced to 9 if it isn’t already lower until the next full moon. Curse. Roll on the Curse table below.
are you finished with that anime yet?

Guys, I’m losing my shit. So, observe the humble tomato.
The scientific name for tomatoes is Lycopersicon esculentum, which apparently translates to “edible wolf peach”
Why? Apparently there was an old superstition that members of the nightshade (which includes tomatoes) were used by witches to summon werewolves.
You heard me. Suddenly that spaghetti sauce doesn’t seem so innocent.
Tomato sauce with roasted garlic. The ultimate culinary move in the Werewolf vs. Vampire war.

how to check if a d20 is cursed, thought you might like it :D
Oh, this is interesting. I might have to try this out. But I never would have thought about this.
If you roll a natural 20, good news! You’re GM now! Go!
The original GM is still a GM, you are too. This continues until everyone is a GM.
If the GM rolls a natural 1, they become a player again
If the GM rolls double ones, the players get to sacrifice them to Probabilitor the Devourer.

Ragriel, during our current boss fight.
Jad (the ghost): He’s kind of got a death grip on you.
HE’S DEAD.
history is fucked up and it sucks because all the people in it who had great viable werewolf names weren’t werewolves. like what the shit. if you knew nothing about history or literature i guess or whatever you’d see names like “virginia woolf” and “oscar wilde” and be like. ah yes. these are definitely some prime secret werewolf poorly masquerading as human intellectual situations? but neither of those people were real live werewolves, factually speaking? they did not take advantage of that opportunity. and i think we are all worse off for it actually
A glimpse of our next dungeon boss...
The Night of Great Anime Bullshit
The encounter consisted of
2 minotaurs,
a large purple worm,
4 paladins of Pelor,
and a single angel of Pelor.
Through a series of unfortunate events, Liam finds himself hurtling towards the ground from 17,000 feet up. Rather than planning on how to save Liam from his long fall with a short stop, the party conspired the following anime-esque bullshit:
Liam hurdles towards the ground, crackling in dark lightening.
30 attack vs Reflex
Brandishing his sword, Liam crashes downward into the angel of Pelor, stabbing the hovering ethereal being with thunderous cracks of dark energy such that his sword passed completely through the angel’s skull.
27 attack vs Fortitude
After burning 2 action points, Jad summons a furious gust of wind laden with embers and angst, throwing Liam through the air. Liam channels the powers bestowed upon his God, such that evil energy rushes over the blade to transform the edge into a grim reaper scythe.
NATURAL FUCKING 20
Liam hefts the crackling energy scythe up beyond his shoulder, then swings it forward in a feral scream borne of terror, adrenaline, and lucid anticipation. The scythe collides with the purple worm at the crux of the evil blade, cutting through the worm from tip to tail. The worm’s bisected halves fall away like macabre wings in a shower of viscera and dark lightening.
The party was screaming the whole time.
